So we intended to go to The Original Pancake House but clicked the wrong location and this was the best mistake we could make. I’m so glad we tried this place. The lemon German Pancakes were tasty and something different. Our server Nieyla was on top of everything! She knew the menu in and out, was super friendly and attentive and I couldn’t have asked for better service. The eggs benedict was delicious too. I didn’t get to try the chicken and waffles but my friend said they were good. The place was super packed on a Saturday afternoon and now I can see why.

Post visit to the zoo. We were both tired and hungry. Waiter was efficient, it's a nice place to eat for sure. Food is good and filling. Neat to find a 24 hour establishment these days. Overall I'd recommend eating here to relax and enjoy good food.

I like this old fashioned feel of a diner. The service was good. They have an app for rewards. The pancakes wasn’t the best. The Dutch baby was good.

Came here for Mother's day brunch and was pretty disappointed. We did wait which is understandable because it was mother's day and they sat us right around the time they said they were. Unfortunately the building is super outdated, with the floor super dirty, dirty walls and musty smell in the air. The server was very young and really didn't seem to care for being there, he did however get our order correct and was attentive. The coffee had no flavor, and the rest of the food was bland as well, the hash browns were dry, the bacon was gross. My husband had a chicken fried steak and he said the meat tasted weird. The only thing that was good were the pancakes, they were delicious. Unfortunately nothing else.

Excellent old school breakfast. Enjoyed the coffee (basic but tasty blend like Greek dinners) and South of border omelet. Recommend it! Biscuits and sausage gravy. For dessert we had the famous German pancake. Great way to finish. Aaron was our server and was great!

Outstanding food. Start with the keggers and the ranch chips. Both are extremely tasty. Next was their famous German pancake finished at your table. I added blueberries. To die for. Also made it a combo with sausage and eggs. The service is as outstanding as the food. Lots of timely refills. Just go, you won't regret it.

Ol' South is just the best. It's a staple here in Fort Worth and its king when it comes to down-home country cooking. I love that I can get breakfast food 'round the clock, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Their biscuits are so good, fluffy and big, and their pancakes are divine. You can add so many different flavors to spice them up. One order of them can feed me for many meals. If you're feeling adventurous, the Dutch pancakes are out of this world, and you won't find anything like it around. The wait on the weekend is a little extreme in the mornings, but it's always worth it!

Friendly staff, Atmosphere is decent, gives a nice old country vibe to it. High amount of seating so we were sat immediately, didn’t have issues waiting. The food was good, the German Pancakes were delicious but not my cup of tea. They are the most popular thing there though.

I would not recommend going to this place. Me and my boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. It was both breaded heavily and the steak had white parts from it being frozen. The cornbread was very dry and everything was just not seasoned at all. Save your money for a better place !

Haven't been here for quite a while and I'm so sorry I haven't. Everything we had here was delicious. And the service was top-notch. I had the German pancake with blueberries, my wife had the corn pancakes. We shared an appetizer of fried mozzarella beforehand. Cooked perfectly. Crispy on the outside with gooey goodness on the inside. I would highly recommend going to groupon before you come here, they offer discounts on both 25 and $50 increments that you can get for about half price. Be careful which one you buy because some are only good during a certain time. Obviously we will be back. Also be forewarned, if you come here early in the morning you will most definitely wait in line to be seated. This place is generally always packed. But it's well worth it. We showed up at about 10:45 and had no issues.

It's definitely a very unique vintage style restaurant. From the architecture outside and the inside decoration. The food wasn't bad, but wasn't what we expected due the great reviews we read online. Part of our order was onions ring's and unfortunately they come very overcook. The bacon wasn't good either. But the fried chicken has very good flavor. And the German style breakfast was definitely the highlight from all the food that we ordered. They need to do a deeper cleaning in the tables, floor and specially the clear table dividers. The location is great. And for last but not least. Our elderly woman server was super sweet and very attentive. Always making sure that my coffee cup was full and checking on us continuously.

It's a perfect place to go on a cool rainy evening. Breakfast for dinner is the perfect comfort food and no one does it better than the Ol' Pancake House. The light and fluffy German pancake with the oozing warmth of the lemon, butter, powdered sugar mix is heavenly. Breakfast tacos have the perfect combo of meat, eggs, and potatoes. Our server Morgan recommended the French crepes, which again, were perfect. She is also the perfect server, quick with a smile and a coffee refill, and kind words. Ask for her when you visit.

A classic Fort Worth Restaurant open 24 hours. The best and most famous dishes are their German pancakes / Dutch babies. I suggest ordering them as they are (with lemon) but you can also add other fruit toppings. We also ordered the breakfast tacos- spot on-and the chicken fried steak. Coffee was good, too. It’s really a giant restaurant but the atmosphere is like southern, cozy diner. Service can be a hit or miss depending on when you go (this place gets really busy!), but this place is definitely worth a visit.

At first you would not think you will have a good experience as it is located near the highway and the exterior is not so fancy... But, but, at first the reception is good, the place is clean! Then, I saw many people of all ages... then the service is good and fast, the sitting is good and the food also good and pretty. We had pancake, waffle, egg, chicken... We did enjoy it. I'll put some photos. Yep, it was a good experience!

A Fort Worth staple that has decent food in a rundown building. The service was good, food was okay. If you're looking for a decent breakfast at a good price, this is the spot. The Dutch baby and chicken fried steak were really great. The building is old and not very well taken care of. If you're one of those people who avoids restaurants with carpet -- avoid.

Everything lacked seasoning simply salt and pepper would have been good it wasn’t there. The gravy was the best part of the meal. No utensils or condiments were given. It looked good but highly disappointed. Precooked chicken probably would have been better fresh

We followed the online recommendations for Best Breakfast in Ft. Worth and we were not disappointed. Despite what looked like a long line, we were seated in <10 mins. Our server Crystal (sp?) was awesome and took our order quickly while recommending the German pancakes. My wife who had a German grandmother said it was the best German pancake she'd ever had. It was my first German pancake and it was delicious! We also had a pecan waffle and a piece of French Toast...all delicious. The food was excellent, the service friendly and quick. We forgot to take pics of our food. But here's a pic of our empty plate to "PROVE" it was delicious. We'll be back !

Everything was delicious! Our server Omar was super great! He made recommendations for the skillet toppings (amazing!) and gave us great ideas about what to do in the area. This is definitely a place to come whenever you want something delicious. Also the tater kegs are ridiculously yummy.

Place was super busy but they managed to get us seated immediately. I went with the chicken and waffles. Was pretty good especially for the price. Wife had eggs and French toast which the eggs were cold and she didn't really like them. The pancakes were good though. Ultimately, I'd come back again. Better than waffle house but not as good as a breadwinner. (Much more affordable though)

Short wait. Prices are reasonable. It's 3% more expensive to pay with card. Service was quick. My toddler liked his Texas-shaped waffle. I had the chicken and waffle and it was ok; it had honey butter and gravy (I felt the gravy didn't have much flavor). I've had the German pancakes in the past and I thought that was really good. My husband had the breakfast burrito and liked it.

I visited Ol South Pancake House for breakfast, looking forward to sampling their renowned offerings. The experience was a mixed bag, with some dishes hitting the mark and others falling short. A standout was the sausage biscuits and gravy. The dish was hearty, flavorful, and comforting - everything you’d want in a classic breakfast staple. The gravy was rich and well-seasoned, complementing the freshly baked biscuits perfectly. The scrambled eggs were another highlight. They were cooked to a fine texture, avoiding the large, chunky pieces often found in less carefully prepared scrambles. This attention to detail in cooking made the eggs particularly enjoyable and a cut above the standard fare. The German Pancake, while good in flavor, had an unexpected texture that didn’t completely win me over. It was impressively large, and in hindsight, a mini version might have been a better choice. The pancake's spongy texture was a bit off-putting for me, although the overall taste was pleasant. In summary, Ol South Pancake House serves up a decent breakfast with some dishes standing out more than others. The sausage biscuits and gravy, along with the finely scrambled eggs, are worth trying. However, be mindful of the portion sizes and textures, particularly with the German Pancake, which might not suit everyone's palate. Overall, it's a solid option for a hearty breakfast, though it may not exceed expectations.

I hate posting stuff like this especially since I've been enjoying there food for years. The food was fantastic until I pulled a white piece of plastic out of my mouth from the German pancake it was delicious until then. I normally wouldn't say they need to step there kitchen staff up but since this is the second delivery we have had issues with (hair in steak) last time. It's time to let everyone know. Be careful when ordering delivery, never had this issue in the actual restaurant. We will most likely stop ordering.

First trip, and we were so happy with the trip to Ol' South Plantation. We look forward to a return trip. I had Eggs Benedict which was beyond good, my hubby had Chicken Fried Steak with eggs biscuits and gravy, and we shared the German Pancake with the lemon powered sugar fixing. OH MY Goodness! There was not one disappointing bite, and they were busy. Great service, great food, and a place to visit soon. I studied the menu before we went. That helped, because it is a big menu. We brought food home too! Always a plus.

Historical Fort Worth landmark restaurant, must visit when coming through here. Open 24/7, most friendly bunch through and through. The food is uniquely special at this place. German pancake is the most famous dish- and Dutch babies.

Never had this kind of pancake with eggs and lime and sweet. A must visit place if you are in Fort Worth. Supposed to be German.

This place was much better this time around. I got the chicken and waffle. The chicken was tasty. The waffle was great. Bacon is always good. The eggs were done well. Our waitress was there any time our coffee was low. She was polite and friendly. The place was packed out but we didn't have to wait long for anything.

Service today was good and the main courses were delicious. The Lemon German pancake is still my favorite of the fruit flavors but the blueberry was fun to try. The sides of ham and bacon were really unremarkable and we would have done better to save the money and stick with the main meal only. We learned a bit of local history when we sat in Van Cliburn’s booth today and that was really neat.

First visit to the pancake house. There were two younger people at the host stand upon entering that were very friendly and pleasant. I was sat immediately, which was great, because the last time I was here there was a wait out the door so I opted to leave. This place is old and has never seen a renovation. Now, I don’t mind old places, as long as they are kept up, but this place could use a cleaning and some minor reno. On to the food…. It was okay. I ordered an omelet with pancakes and it came out not even 3 minutes later, which tells me this isn’t fresh off the grill. My pancakes were a little cool and the mushrooms on the omelet were like they were straight from a can and never even touched the skillet. It still had good flavor. So compared to other breakfast restaurants, I’ll give it a 3. My waitress checked on me one time before immediately dropping the ticket. Guess they want you in and out fast. And the older lady who rung me up had no personality or smiles to give. So so experience…
