Definitely different than any other guided tour we've taken. Chuck was great, he made it fun for everyone. He was engaged with his audience and made it personable for all, we were in a larger crowd too-5 or 6 different parties, around 12 to 15 people total. Very impressed.

If you are interested in American history you will enjoy touring his house. The man who built it was a wood worker and he used this house to showcase his talent. The staircase is beautifully made as well as many other details in the home. The house was located in the middle of the historic Battle of Franklin. There are still bullet holes in the house. They don’t allow photos to be taken inside. They have a gift shop if you would like to purchase a souvenir.

We did the haunted tour. Was pretty amazing. Some of us on the tour even smelled cigar smoke! Our guide/host was the best!

JT was an amazing tour guide! I walked away really having an appreciation for the history and his historical knowledge! I give this tour an A+++! If you're in Tennessee tell your Uber driver to drive you to Franklin for the Lotz House tour. You will not be disappointed! They also have a small bit impressive Civil War gift shop! I can't wait to return!

Truly awesome tour! I've taken both the Ghost Tour and the regular day time tour. The Ghost Tour is on Saturday nights after normal hours. For this you need to get your tickets in advance but it is worth it! Our guide Kelly was very knowledgeable about the Ghost that occupy the home. She shared stories, photos, video and recording of paranormal events. A couple of weeks later I went back for the history tour which is during the day. Our guide Chuck was so good and had so much knowledge and history to share. I learned so much about the Lotz family from the tour,if you're in the Franklin/Nashville area you should try to take the time for the tour you will be grateful you did

Passionate tour guide (Kelly 🙌) was very knowledgeable, and unlike many other historic home tours weaved the history of the area and Battle of Franklin into the tour! Would highly recommend if visiting Franklin. Date: 8 January 2022 Standard adult admission: $12 (discounts available)

This home is rich with history, from the workmanship of the original owners to the historical tours given by the staff. It takes you back in time to enjoy and learn about the past. Mr. Thomas is the most entertaining tour guide I've ever listened to he definitely keeps your attention the amount of knowledge this man knows from the past with dates, times, people and places is remarkable! Then you have sweet Kelly she is who is a joy to be around and listen to she's really good with the children on the tours, and in the gift shop. Mr Chuck who used to be a teacher is also extremely knowledgeable and has done countless reenactments of the battles. During the haunted tours you will also encounter a volunteer Mrs Nikki who is amazing as well. The home in itself is just amazing from the stairs case, to the fireplaces. The beautiful antiques that are in the home. The owners have such a love and admiration for this home and it shows from the upkeep to their workers and volunteers. It truly is a must see! I have been their several times and will continue to go back and enjoy this beautiful historical place that just reminds you of home.

My husband and I just finished the tour at Lotz House. Chuck did a phenomenal job! He was full of information. And humor, which I find an important part of tours. There is nothing worse then a dry, boring guide. Chuck is the opposite of that. We absolutely recommend the tour!

Great tour for the history buffs and those that enjoy viewing historic buildings! Tour guide was hilarious and very knowledgeable about the surrounding civil war battles (could point out where your state's regiments were off the top of his head) and what happened to the family living in the house. Beautiful period furniture and wallpapers make you feel as if you stepped back in time.

Had a wonderful tour with Chuck. The lady cashier was extremely great as well, I wish I remembered her name. My son kept coughing and she was so sweet to give him a bottle of water. Very kind people. I wish we were allowed to browse the books upstairs, though I understand why we aren't.

What a fun find! 30 min drive from Nashville, it’s worth the visit. Mr Burn was our tour guide and he was informative, friendly and interesting. We really enjoyed all that he had to tell us about the area! Thanks!

We arrived 20 minutes early and our guide Chuck was very interested in us, and where we were from. He also explained a few things about the tour that he later gave us when everyone had arrived. He did an exceptional job and and I was very impressed about his knowledge. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

In plain sight lies a very interesting story and gem of the area. Though the overall tour of the Lotz House is small, there is an enormous wealth of knowledge to be seen and heard. The tour guide, Seth, in our case, was highly educated on all aspects of the home, the story, the battle, and the history. It is well worth the price of admission. I would recommend you read up on the house, the battle, and the family, that way you have questions to ask as you walk through the home and are taken back to the end of the civil war. I appreciated the intricate woodwork of Mr. Lotz as well as the painting by his daughter and other pieces from the era. Overall great experience and great way to spend a couple of hours.

We visited the Lotz House this week during the Christmas/New Year Break. Our tour guide was Thomas and he was fantastic. Trust me, this tour is worth it and if you’re lucky enough to get Thomas as your guide, you will have a great, educational and entertaining visit.

Great tour. Chuck was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. The history is tragic but a must see for al! Our tour group was large so it was difficult for everyone to see everything. An extra tour guide would be helpful. Overall one of the best historical tours we’ve seen!

While not knowing a lot of the details about the Battle of Franklin this tour of the Lotz House was a good way to be introduced to what happened and how the battle affected the Lotz family. There are a few original carved pieces left in the house but the rest of the furnishings are from other places and create an atmosphere of how people lived during that time. Our guide Seth gave an enjoyable narration and wasn't boring. Plus he also brought me a chair to sit on when it was uncomfortable for my back to stand for a long time which I really appreciated. Also recommend to buy your tickets on Groupon first.

The staff are absolutely amazing and knowledgeable about the history of the Battle at Franklin the Lotz family and home. Our tour guide, Chuck was so interesting in combining his historical knowledge and interests in a way that captivates. We learned more on this tour than we did at other historical locations. Thank you Chuck and Tom!

Day tour is great, the night tour not so much. For double the price it's just double the disappointment. The "ghost" tour was just a man showing you pictures of objects in different places. He proceedes to say that they don't put it there and how it could possibly get there. I could only stand 30 minutes of this lack luster tour before leaving. Great house, great vibe, bad tour.

What a tour we had with JT! We learned alot and there were many details that he shared that were above and beyond other historical tours we have taken. Don't miss touring the Lotz House if your in the Franklin TN area.

Perfect pairing with the Carter House across the street. This is a private museum - no photos allowed. Great piece of history - try to follow up with learning more about Matilda. Great story!

We toured several historic houses in Franklin. The Lotz House was one of our favorites. Seth, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Our group had people of various ages from different parts of the country (including one man from Italy) and Seth was able to relate to all of us. The tour was not only interesting, it was fun!

Great tour! Well worth the money. I was very skeptical looking from the outside, but our tour guide Seth was exceptionally knowledgeable on everything. He definitely had a good combination of humor and facts. It was interesting to hear the history of the house, family, town, and battle.

Chuck, new his stuff. A must do if in Franklin or nearby. About an hour and a half full of civil facts regarding the Battle of Franklinand local history. Very knowledgeable about Lotz family. Definitely check it out!

  • 5/5 Cheyhalis B. 1 year ago on Google
The curator was very informative and had answers for every question we had. His story telling of the events happening to the house before, during, and after the battle paints a vivid and clear picture. We learned a lot from this experience and would suggest it to others, and for less than $15 a person it's well with it!

Awesome tour and American Civil War (Battle of Franklin) presentation. I was riveted. The tour guide brings history to life as if it were happening now. It's well worth the time and effort if you're interested in culture and war history. The Lotz House Museum is beautifully restored and preserved and will transport you back in time. The tours are small and discussion is welcome. There is also a gift shop on site. Many delicious eateries can be found nearby as well. It's a great way to spend any day of the week - window shopping, finding unique decor and gifts and simply enjoying being alive and loved.

I would most definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Franklin!

This evening my 13 year old daughter and I took the Women’s History Tour at the amazing Lotz House. I’ve been on Kelly’s day time tour of the home before, so I knew it would be great, but I was absolutely blown away by the evening tour! She is incredibly knowledgeable and easily brought to life some incredible women of Franklin, as well as a few others who weren’t from the area, but have had a great impact on our country. I really appreciated how she talked about the seemingly mundane aspects of life that relate to all of us today, to sharing some of the fantastic stories that were these women’s’ lives and experiences! On the way home, my daughter couldn’t stop talking about what she learned and how much she enjoyed the tour-and coming from a teenager, I think that alone speaks volumes! I grew up in Franklin and tonight Kelly gave me a new appreciation and love for my hometown. So thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us this evening, Kelly, and I sure hope this tour is an opportunity that more people will take advantage of, whether they live in the area or are visiting!
