BIG W Karingal

Department store

🫤 Recent upgrades have left Big W looking more like a warehouse than department store. It was hard to find what I wanted seeing as the layout had completely changed. People often mention staff, store, service, good, needed, find, manager, asked, told, item,

The click and collect staff were rude and did not comply with their own T&C's. We ordered a product to be collected and unfortunately I could no longer collect it. I asked my partner to grab it from the store and looked up what needed to be done so that he could collect it. The T&C's stated we needed to send an email to BigW and have a copy of said email provided to the staff upon collection. When my partner did this the lady was abrupt and rude to him and insisted that she called me to check. When she called I confirmed my partner would be collecting the item to which she told me next time I needed to fill out the correct persons details or ring the store. I said no worries we just were doing what the T&C's stated we needed to do to which she told me that they do not get the emails and this is no longer the procedure. After all of this my partner then got stopped upon exiting and was made to hold this heavy item for a long period of time whilst they tried to figure out if he was stealing the item. Once they realised he was not stealing it they offered a trolley to him. Very unprofessional and rude.

I visited the cosmetics/personal care department early Wednesday morning. I had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Jen. The service I received was beyond what I expected. She greeted me warmly and kept up with my annoying chattiness with patience and professionalism. I would consider this the best service I have ever received at this store. Most of the service staff are lovely but there was just something different and higher level regarding this service. I then made sure to pass on my comments to member of staff and asked that she inform the store manager who was standing less than 5 feet away addressing a group of staff. Another staff member overhead me and gave assurance the manager would be told A little while later I observed this person speak to the manager and believe she had passed on my positive feedback. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I returned this morning and was again brightly greeted by Jen and discovered the store manager had not bothered to pass on my comments. If my feedback was negative I guarantee he'd have found time to speak to her!! Jen is worthy of 5 stars but the store as a whole due to this, not so much!!

New store set up feels fresh and new, self serve has to go or put more people on the floor assisting people as I stood and waited for assistance for 15 min on a self serve machine as Ajax 5l doesn't weigh what it's ment to. Security is also another issue.

My daughter and her two friends (all aged 11) went into Big W tonight, given a little bit of freedom to go into a shop on their own. As young girls do, they spent a fair bit of time in the beauty section, having a laugh while doing so. Upon leaving (they didn't purchase anything), security stopped them and asked to see inside their bags, even though they didn't beep. They happily obliged, including one girl who only had a very small clutch sized bag (consumer law advises to be very sure of theft when looking in small bags). The girl had 2 lip glosses on her, out of the packet and used. They were a brand that is also sold in Woolworths and other places, and she easily explained that they had been bought for her birthday. They were interrogated for 10 minutes (without a parent) where they said that they looked suspicious and that they would check the cameras. To the manager who handled tonight, you should be fired. To the security guard, same. You saw three 11 year old girls and used it as an excuse to vent your pathetic existence onto them. Somehow I don't think you've heard the last of this.

It was easy enough to find stuff and while they didn't have some of what I wanted they had a reasonable supply. The store was super quiet this evening and still pretty easy to find what we wanted and a good selection of sizes.

Big W Karingal had a good range of different things to buy for Christmas. unfortunately every shop is expensive now. But Big W had some really good bargains on sale which was really good.

Be wary of the fake security o the door they threaten you if you don't show them dockets of items they don't even sell. Absolutely ridiculous behaviour. Stop me and see what happens. Lawyers are waiting for the call. Education of your staff is required, including Tim the manager.

What did they do to the interior? Woeful design/colours. Shelves sparsely packed. If you can't find it, sometimes you might be able to find a staff member to help. You can play find/spot the customer in this store - there's not many of them.

Nice store except for the new gender neutral layout and the lack of finding staff when you need to locate something. There is a really nice lady that works at the check stands that helped us with making sure the shoes we were buying for my daughter were the correct fit. I would suggest more seating though around the clothing and shoes department.

Absolutely discussing service had to get a price check as the product I was buying scanned higher than the yellow ticket price the till lady went and checked with the manager on shift today she proceeded to sauntered up to us and asked are you right in a very condescending manner and didn't want to hear what we had to say about the price all she kept saying this is the price didn't bother to saunter over to look at ticket price so we left with nothing we will never Shop there again.. don't be in customer service with rude attitude.. doesn't deserve the one star..

I would post a zero if I could however one it is. I have a trauma bear that I carry for my anxiety and depression. I walked in with the toy dinosaur and thought nothing of it as me having the dinosaur has never been an issue. Went in to find an office chair they had none and went to walk out with my friend. A man in a fluoro jacket stopped me and asked for proof of purchase. I had no idea who this man was as there was no security badge or number on him. I was confused as my dinosaur has Nike's on and ripcurl shorts so clearly I didn't shop life him.I tried to walk away from the man and he stepped in my way and told me he was going to punch me. No joke there security with no badge or I'd threatened to punch a disabled person for not having a reciept for no purchases. And shame on you Tim the manager at Big w for sided with a man that is not identifying himself as security.

Myself and two others in the last week have had dealings with multiple staff with minimal knowledge on store policies. The lack of customer service is shocking. Rudest staff! Disgusting!

Very poor return service on one of their products. Given I lost my receipt & did provide my ID, I was told there’s nothing they can do. So I had to leave the faulty Paper Shredder on their desk & leave with nothing. Dissatisfied as I’m a long term Big W shopper. They can learn a lot from Bunnings.

Had an unusual problem with my phone I purchased from big W. Service staff went above and beyond too rectify my problem and offering me an exchange for a new one. So happy they were able to help me and Understand my issues and fixing the situation so I didn't end up without a working phone.

Came for a click and collect as was not available in my area. Nice clean store, easy access. The lady at the front was very helpful leading me where to go. There was not a single trolley though and when I asked I was told that's because the trolley collector person had not started work yet. This was at 9.30am. So if you are heading in early and see a trolley in the car park, grab it on your way in!

Garden area has been closed down, substance addicted folks were openly shoplifting and eating food from the shelves, no sizes in women's swimwear or footwear. Might have told the staff if they weren't so rude and incompetent on previous visits where they refused to help me.

Plenty of free undercover, shaded & normal parking. Food court not too bad & plenty of other retailers.

The store has been renovated during the peak Christmas period and the stock appeared very low and difficult to locate. The staff were abliging but appeared to be under the pump and stressed

Being a bachelor I realised I have no idea how to buy bedding , I got pretty much everything wrong in pillow cases, returned them after 3 months of having a kidney stone and not able to drive , I arrived with the wrong receipt , the lad with the mohawk at your service desk was absolutely brilliant , tracked down my purchase and did everything possible to help me out. Exceptional service.

Got there at 7:55 am, to be cheerfully greeted by an older lady with even-cheerier coloured hair. We had the store to ourselves; found exactly what we needed and at a good price. Over to thecself-serve checkout and, as we deoarted with our purchases, we were thanked for shopping there by another staff member. All in all, a very good experience.

Great shopping experience today from start to finish. Service was first class in every way. The doorway greeter saw me looking puzzled at the entry+ directed me towards the right end of store. Staff approached me to see if I needed help+ when the shelf was bare (sold out) he got what I needed from out the back ( just delivered he said). At the checkout the staff member saw I probably needed a trolley due2 the size/dimensions of the item (or longer arms)+ a trolley appeared. 4 excellent retail staff- thankyou! Am very happy with the dog crate+ comfy bedding purchased at very good prices. Fur baby is not sure if he likes it though. I will be back.

Very busy for Black Friday sale, but staff seemed to handle the rush well. New review. It's a bit annoying, that so often I go into Big W, and they have moved a few things around, it is probably for a good reason, but never the less, quite annoying.

Such a spacious store, well set out, easy signage and staff very pleasant. Registers open and not a long wait.

Layout doesn't make any sense. Nothing much clothing wise for a toddler boy - but if it's toddler girls clothes you after your in luck. It's hard to navigate through the store and now there are only 2 manned registers and the rest is self serve. Ita a turn off to shop there.
