My husband and I went here for lunch. We came from San Antonio that time and my husband was craving some German food; and since I’ve never had one before, I was game. This place is a fun place. You can dine in inside or at the bar. The place has a relaxed and fun atmosphere perfect for any age group. I ordered something with sausage (I’m sorry I can’t remember what it was called); while my husband ordered the Reuben, and we also had the German snack for appetizers. To drink my husband had a dark beer on tap while I had the German beer which is not my favorite drink. I am giving this a 5-star rating because the serving is good, although a bit pricey, the food is delish! I love our bartender who was very attentive to our needs. I love the energy of the place and I would definitely come back and bring more family and friends with me.

Oh wow! It was our first night in town, and I wanted German food, or at the very least, some Hill Country comfort food. Ashley was our server, and she was awesome and so knowledgeable and helpful. The venison and pork sausage was delicious as was the peach Bavarian. If you are in town, try it! I dare you. So delish!

Everything was so delicious! All the food tasted so fresh and homemade. The plates fill you up. They also have amazing fried pickles! The customer service was friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth the price!

We came on a Thursday night around 6:45 pm and were told the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour. We got a text message after about 35 minutes that our table was ready. Nice! We ordered Fried Mushrooms, Venison Sausage plate, German Meatballs plate, Kid's Mac n Cheese, and Kid's Hot Dog. The fried mushrooms were great especially with the ranch sauce. The venison sausage wasn't to our liking and we ordered red cabbage (sour) as a side and saurkraut already came with the dish. If we had thought it through, the potato salad would have been a better choice. I loved the German meatballs. Three large meatballs came with the plate and the gravy was wonderful. Highly recommend the fried mushrooms and meatball plate!

I ordered smoked sausage with German potato salad (meal came with sauerkraut). My partner ordered the Potato soup and the pimiento appetizer. We had Apple strudel for dessert. First the positive: great atmosphere, and friendly host. Our waitress was super. The sausage was good and the mustard paired well with it. My partner said the potato soup was tasty. The Apple strudel was the best thing we had (but please, no caramel sauce!). Now areas that need improvement: the sauerkraut was too salty. The pimiento cheese tasted and looked like it came from H-E-B (not a bad thing, but we expected homemade). The German potato salad was simply gross. Canned potatoes? No taste of vinegar, onion, or bacon. Really disappointed with my sides.

Tourist trap! Great atmosphere, great service, terrible schnitzel. The breading was soggy and not authentic. The meat was not tenderized and pink. I’ve had real schnitzel and with all the authentic places in town to get one, don’t waste your money here. Great beers on tap though.

The food's just delicious, we had some mushrooms, sausage, chicken fried, and a stake all very tasty. You should visit this place with an empty stomach because the portion is very generous. Great service too.

Absolutely amazing experience. Coming from the Czech Republic, it was a meal that brought memories, with a delicious Chicken Schnitzel (it's my pet peeve but it would be nice if people pronounced it correctly - "shnitsl") and Ruladen. Wish we had gravy on our schnitzels when I went to school, because this gravy was to die for! The corn needs its own review. I have never tasted so flavorful buttery melting-in-my-mouth corn. We ordered dessert but none of us could finish it. The banana pudding was on the dryer side and needed a nice cup of coffee with it. Our server was an absolute delight. Her energy was contagious. Also shout-out to local Altstadt Brewery (I'm sorry I can't pronounce it the anglicized way, it will always be "altshtat" for me. Eight years of German does that to you). You can't go wrong with any of these dishes. Just go here and enjoy yourself.

Uh-mazing! I go to Fredericksburg once or twice a year for the past decade and somehow never stumbled into this great place until now! Order and eat all of it! The menu is pork heavy, so if you don’t do pork, the options are a little slim, but it still tastes all so good! Try the fried pickles!

If you are looking for schnitzel this is definitely the place. The fried mushroom were really good as part of the appetizer and the sausage sampler was just as good. I did order the red fish on the menu and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent they were very attentive and accommodating.

Exploring Fredericksburg shops and we decided to stop in and get out of the heat. They have indoor and outdoor, covered, seating. The decor was fun and fitting. Our waiter was very attentive and informative. Come hungry as the portions are a little bigger. We ordered Spicy Jalapeno Pimento Cheese appetizer. It came with crackers and veggies to eat it. Very good flavor, although if you like spicy, this may not be spicy enough for you. I ordered Smoked Sausage Sandwich with Hot German potato salad. The sausage is juicy and flavorful, but make sure you get to the potato salad before it goes room temp. It's better when it's hot (my fault for getting distracted). My girlfriend got The Reuben with fries. One of the better Reuben sandwiches I've had for sure. Never trying a grilled reuben it definitely made this one as one of my tops. I highly recommend stopping in here. We must have gotten lucky, it was 3pm on a Saturday and we were sat in less than 10min. I wouldn't expect that on a lunch weekend day but they will take care of you.

I got a "hunter" schnitzel that has red wine mushrooms gravy on it and it was perfect. Meat was thick unlike usual schnitzel but it was tender and juicy so I still loved it. It was "different" from schnitzel I had in the past but I'm not saying it was a bad thing, it was unique and I actually liked it thick as long as it was tender and juicy. It was cruncy on the outside and real tender on the meat. Smoked sausage was amazing as well. It was even better with spicy mustard and German beer. Every single side menu was amazing too. Buttered corn was sweet and rich, potato salad was not too sour and was perfectly cooked & seasoned. mashed potato was so good and I normally hate mashed potatos. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who's traveling or living in local areas

We wanted to try some German food. This is a German-American restaurant. We were 5 people so tried 5 different items from their menu. We tried the rouladen, the reuben, grilled red fish, grilled pork chop and schmorbraten. We kind of liked them all. They gave a bun with the food. It was really good! German foods don’t have a lot of spice. So it tastes kind of bland. So be prepared for it. We also tried the beer buttered mushroom. It was good. I recommend going to this restaurant if you are in that area.

Loved the feel and decor of the restaurant. We visited on a Saturday and expected a wait but service was fast and friendly with a smile. I had the German potato soup for an appetizer and it was amazing. I ordered the Jägerschnitzel, it was crispy, thick, juicy and delicious. The German potato salad was a little too vinegary for me. I wish I had room for the strudel maybe next visit because I will be back. Overall we had an excellent dining experience.

Hands down best German food in Fredericksburg! Loved the food, the staff was amazing and kind to my son who was up dancing to the music lol, and the food was top-tier! Was so happy we stopped here on a recommendation from one of the local shops. Definitely will be back when we take another family vacation. It is right off the main strip. They have a bar area outside and a place to eat inside. They had a wall of cuckoo clocks. They were all beautiful. They play German music which was different and my son loved it. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for amazing German food.

Ate here on Tuesday and the food was amazing! The fried mushrooms for an appetizer and then the main entree was fried pork loin with mushrooms in a red wine sauce with red cabbage and potato salad. Very filling and for the portions the price wasn't bad. Friendly staff, highly recommended if you're in the area looking for lunch or dinner!

Today was my first experience at The Auslander. Zachary was my server and he provided great and friendly customer service. I started with the Old World Potato Soup and it was excellent and unlike any potato soup I've tried before. For the main course I ordered the Spicy Texas Schnitzel with the German potato salad and red cabbage, and the flavors were outstanding and delicious. For desert I ordered the Peach Bavarian and it was great as well. I've never had German food before so this was a new experience that I really enjoyed. Next time I visit Fredericksburg I would absolutely come back.

Great food, especially the Jagerschnitzel! Apple strudel was good but not very good layers in the dough, basically filled it up with apple filling to make it taste good but that makes it too moist/wet. We have has better. Prices are higher, but that is the times for right now sadly.

Had a very enjoyable time here. We ordered the German Snack as an appetizer and it was delicious. The bread was so soft and tasty and the sauerkraut savory! This was paired with Hofbräu Original Lager & the Erdinger Hefe Dunkel which we enjoyed as they complimented the brat. We were so happy after finishing this we chose not to order a meal (since it was enough for two) and ordered dessert instead. We chose the bread pudding topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Perfect!! We preferred to sit in the dining area instead of outdoors bc it’s Texas in July. Our server was friendly, helpful and had a great attitude. German music played over the speakers and kept the ambiance delightful.bread pudding

this place was really yummy! it was pretty busy on a Sunday evening but the wait wasn’t too bad, maybe about 15-20 minutes. we got the pimento appetizer which was good and not too spicy. i got the meatballs and my boyfriend got the regular schnitzel and we enjoyed both a lot. the meatballs were very flavorful, i also had a side of green beans and they were surprisingly nice and buttery. our server Christian was very friendly and nice. will definitely stop back in next time we’re in town!

Good restaurant to dine in. The food we ordered tasted good. It was quick service. It’s always crowded and there is a wait time. They do have restrooms inside though it’s super small. The only negative feedback we had was the staff, they were rushing and was just doing their job.

Admittedly, I didn't have any of the German cuisine but my wife did. She thought that schnitzel was well done, but the spicy sauce on top of the spicy schnitzel wasn't to her liking. (It tasted like Frank's hot sauce). I tried the steak and to my delight, it was well done. Decent beer selection, friendly staff, and plenty of space. We'd go back for sure.

Everything about this place feels German. The food is awesome especially the desserts. The staff if excellent. Always friendly and courteous and the atmosphere is vibrant. My only concern is the tiny restroom. With seating easily for a hundred one would think a restroom to accommodate at least 4 would be a given, but alas when you enter the 15x15 restroom there's barely enough room for the line of men waiting on a busy evening. If you can handle that then this is your place for delicious German cuisine.

As delicious as always! The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The food came out very quickly, which was perfect, since we are on a road trip! Just a heads-up; portions were rather large!

45min wait time for a table of 6, not too bad, we shopped around the stores nearby until text reminder table is ready. Beer battered mushroom was tasty!! a must try 👌 Reuben sandwich was great. Our server was very attentive making sure we got all the condiments we need and drinks refilled. A wonderful experience here.
