Want to really get away from it all with minimum hassle? Best possible relaxation, an easy place to get to - you are still in the United States - and practically the only tourists you see on this side of St Croix in the summer months are those staying at Cottages by the Sea and a property next door. This is the place to book. We stayed in the Caravelle room, a large room with lots of space, a fully equipped kitchen, a myriad of cozy lights offering a delightful atmosphere, an entertaining gazebo across the private walkway. All that not more than steps from the beautiful beach and multi color of blue of the Caribbean Sea. You can also walk the mile into the town of Frederiksted. There are several restaurants here. But again, one sees hardly anyone during the summer months. Rent a car and drive to the spectacular rain forest, but watch out because people here drive on the left. Not to worry too much because almost everyone in St Croix seems to be friendly, and patient and on "island time." So enjoy the relaxation!

If you're looking for a cozy, relaxed getaway in St. Croix, look no further than Cottages by the Sea. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the lovely grounds and friendly staff, especially Sandy. Our room was spacious and comfortable, complete with the biggest bed I've ever seen and a walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. Although the resort isn't brand new, it's well kept and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. One of the highlights of our visit was the sense of community among the guests. We loved chatting with other travelers and exchanging tips on things to see and places to eat. One added bonus of Cottages by the Sea is the coin-operated washer and dryer for guest use, as well as a closet filled with snorkel equipment, sand toys, and floaties. And speaking of the beach, the sunsets were absolutely amazing. We made sure to take in the sunset every evening, each one with its own unique personality. If you're interested in exploring beyond the resort, the town of Frederiksted is about a 20-minute walk or a quick drive away. And don't forget to take advantage of the snorkeling right in front of the hotel - we saw all kinds of sea life just steps from our door. Overall, we highly recommend Cottages by the Sea. This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last.

We will come back for sure! Pristine beach with calm clear water and soft sand. Calm and relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in Castaway Cottage and it is very spacious, full of amenities to cook your own complete meal, and homey. We went here for babymoon and we already plan to come back here again when the baby is here!

Our very first trip to St Croix we stayed at the Cottages. We Loved it so much that before we left we had started planing our next trip. Located directly on the beach with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. The staff are the nicest people you will ever meet. The rooms are sufficient and very comfortable. We have no desire to stay anywhere other Than Cottages by the Sea while visiting this magical island.

My husband and I stayed in the Cruzan room for the first part of our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! Comfy bed and an AMAZING patio with lounge chairs and a beautiful view of the ocean. Loved the private beach and swimming around in the clear blue water. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We loved petting the cats that hang out on the grounds. The kitchen setup was great and they even have a blender! We made blended drinks and hung out in either the water or our patio for a bulk of our stay. We will absolutely be back for an anniversary trip πŸ’œ

This place is incredible. There's a few negatives but nothing to get rid of the 5 stars. The beach is literally right there, and just underwater its teeming with life. We saw 4 sea turtles in one day. The bathroom and shower feels like a dorm or camp ground, but that's minor, they have grills you can use to cook food but I could never get them hot enough to give a good sear, again not major at all because just having a way to grill food is a great way to save some money. 11/10 recommended and will stay here again.

We just returned from our stay at Cottage by the Sea and are already planning our return next year! We stayed in the Compass Rose which I think was one of the best locations, right on the sand with full sunset view. The cottage is small, but the bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only negative I can think of is the low water pressure and lukewarm showers, but I think that's just island living. Honestly, it was so warm when we were there, the cool water felt great. I spent most of the week just sitting on the patio and enjoying the view. Another plus was having the hotel beach club next door. A day pass is only $15.00! Overall, the property was very clean and well maintained; the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Five stars!!!

The hotel is really beautiful and in a great location. I will definitely be staying there again. We were able to come out of our room and walk right to beach. The room has everything you needed to prepare meals, etc, except paper towels. There were small roaches seen in our room during our stay. Found a small lizard as well. Lizards are to be expected but I was surprised by the number of roaches. All in all, I will stay again.

A snorkeling and diving must! Just off the shore we saw squid, turtle, stingray, and more. The cottages are each uniquely appointed with Caribbean flair. Carmen kept the rooms tidy, but be sure to ask her for all the local recommendations l, that's her true superpower. The public grills and spaces are clean, abundant, and perfect for finding your quiet piece of paradise. The Pier is a short drive to dive with Cane Bay Diving, or grab food at Louie's Nacho bar. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ LGBT positive - thank you for sharing the island paradise with us

I want to thank the owner Paul for making our stay at Cottages by the Sea. simply magical & amazing. He went out of his way to make our stay dreamy!! Thank you to John and lovely Kate as well! The room was spotless and cozy with a lovely view of the ocean upstairs. We loved listening to the waves while sitting on the porch. We met and spoke to many guests who come back time and time again. My wife and I will be back to stay at the Cottages by the Sea again. I recommend those reading this book a room & make beautiful memories on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Loved this place. We stayed in Chart House with the water just outside our door. Gorgeous. The place is scrupulously clean, the staff is friendly and full of helpful information. Truly, you can't do much better than to relax here.

This is a great location if you are a scuba diver. We were close to the dive shop, pier diving, and only 30 mins from the marina in the days we met there. Cute place, clean, older but maintained with a beautiful beach and common areas. Also... The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

The ocean view was amazing from our Coconut Cottage. The ocean was clear and calm- perfect for wading or snorkeling. Staff was friendly and super helpful. Our cottage was clean, comfortable, and updated. We can't wait to go back again!

We stayed at the Castaway, it had a full kitchen and perfect layout space-wise, a beautiful garden view patio, with a minute walk to the beach. The location was phenomenal, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Additionally, the staff was above and beyond for anything we needed! It’s right next door to a restaurant that’s quite delicious. 10/10.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, best perk is that it is right on the beach. No roads to cross, no long walks. We were literally about 20 feet from the sand, another 15 or so to the water's edge. Sunsets in the West are the best. Snorkeling in the calm waters of the West is easy! We used the hotel kayak several times. Wish it was a 2 seater. Easy walk / to Fredericksted. Ten minutes away is Sandy Point. Sand Castle On The Beach is literally next door and has a restaurant but service is sometimes a challenge and food could be better priced for what you get.

We had a great stay here. The beach, steps from our cabin, were gorgeous and more easily accessible than other beaches on the island. The cabin had absolutely everything we needed and were cleaned and given fresh towels every day or so. The onsite restaurant was tasty. And we loved the closets of snorkeling equipment, books, etc. Can't say enough good about this place.

What a wonderful experience! We felt honored to stay at the cottages by the sea. The entire staff was not only accommodating, but so incredibly kind. The room was clean and the beach was gorgeous! We hate to leave our trip, but we’re genuinely going to miss the staff. Kate in particular was one of the most amazing people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thank you to each and everyone of you!
