The Resort is dated and needs major improvements. The pool and the water slide is pretty much all they have. We arrived on time and the resort did not had our room ready. We were placed on a studio room for one evening and the room was awful. There was no sense of urgency in getting us relocated to the room we were supposed to have but after complaining we finally got it. The Beach is nice and the restaurant has a limited menu, other than that you will have to go to town (about a 15 min trip by car) to get groceries or catch a ferry that runs every hour on the hour to get some other dining options. The resort buses cruise ships passenger there as part of excursions almost daily, that’s how you get some crowds but other than that the amount of guests that stay there via RCI is very limited to almost none. Groceries as well as other commodities are very expensive. I personally will not be staying there again or returning. The Bahamas has a lot to offer but not at this location. First and last for me. By the way, I am the generous one in the family, if it was for my wife the review rating would have been much lower!!!

Only had a day pass from my ship. Beautiful beachfront, and the water is just amazing. The lazy river/pool was great. I really enjoyed it and the jacuzzi. The swim up bar was just great. Strong drinks and fun staff. Restaurants were very, very expensive 🙄.

For starters the bug bites, over 50 bites on legs, arms, back. The cleanliness of the room, always having to go to the front desk to ask for things that should be daily delivered or just there. No room service at all. Not enough kitchen supplies, no can opener or knife.we so call owners and no benefits we can book online cheaper and probably get a better room for less. The pool was cloudy and hot tub filled with sand. Just not what expected for the price

Well this place has a lots of potential but they need to improve a lots of things: 1. everything close at 6pm after 6pm no bars or restaurants open. 2. the pool area is fantastic could have music to entertain people and they close the slide at 4:30 wich is ridiculous kid love the slide and beside is nothing else to enjoy.

We came on a day pass from a cruise ship, and it was excellent. The value of having the beach to ourselves was amazing plus the WiFi. The pool area was clean and quiet and we loved the flowers all around. The pool bar was super cool. We had a great few hours, wish we could’ve stayed a little longer!! Would definitely come back.

Love this place! Can't wait to return. Wonderful quiet beach that was clean and well attended. All of the staff was amazing. We even became members and were treated like royalty. The transportation that they offer is wonderful because it's quite expensive getting around the island otherwise. The ferry was wonderful. Jet skiing was great! Malcolm and Eunice are just incredible assets to the company. Absolutely recommend.

I stayed in a one bedroom at the Marlin with a balcony overlooking the pool. The unit was updated and only needed minor repairs pertaining to kitchen cabinet doors being out of alignment. The pool and swim-up bar are really nice and there was a poolside DJ from around 10am to 4pm every day. The restaurant is somewhat pricey so I only ate there once. The beach is beautiful and is a 2 min walk from the Marlin.

We visited here for the day as an excursion package from our cruise. The pool was nice and the restaurant was good. We ordered the conch bites & conch fritters. The beach was clean & very pretty!

Went for the water park. Day pass was $10 for kids, $20 for adults which includes parking and access to the resort's super clean beach front. They have a huge shallow section for new swimmers, a water slide, hot tub, and a swim up bar. A very relaxing environment to take the kids.

We did not spent the night as we use this as a stop from our cruise, so glad we did, beach is private and really nice, you can also rent a wave runner and a trip on a banana 🍌🤣. The hotel was clean and the pool area has a lot of activities for the people to participate. Also de bar is under the waterfall. Really nice!!

Didn't stay at the resort we went right to the beach and loved being the only ones really using it. It was a mini cruise to the Bahamas. The restaurant was nice with seating outside that was covered and overlooked the beach. Great place to relax!

As being a owner for over 25 plus years , this place is siding down hill FAST! So let's start with check in, always have to wait! Deposit on beach towels, which took several days to get one! It was pass the buck attitude. I got feeling that I don't have any priorities as an owner, I'm not there for a sales pitch but those who are sure get treated better. The Ocean units still are not done, so we were put into another unit where it smelled musky and the bolts to the toilet were rusted and it moved inches, the AC unit wasn't working up to par, the microwave had duct tape holding it together, no dish towels to do your dishes, shortage on bath towels, had to ask. Going to pool side, the pool was green, help wasn't checking the pH levels not once, they sprinkled chlorine, the hot tub was same way. The landscaping needed attention, the beach is being over grown, wasn't as nice as before for sure. You get the feeling the place closes every evening at 6pm. So what does our maintenance fees goes towards ? The negativity around the pool was unbelievable. By the way our unit is FOR SALE .

I used Resort Pass to go for the day while ported from a cruise. We had a good time although there were a few issues. Like we weren’t offered towels at check-in and i was sent to the pool bar to order food and then told to go the restaurant to order food even though the restaurant told me to go to the pool bar

My ranking is mainly based on the placement of the resort and the amenities provided not my actual stay. The rooms are clean even though dated and offer everything that you would need for a good stay there is harbor right next door and plenty of things to do in the area. The pool was serviced daily and the staff were super friendly. Hats off to Steve, Berryl and Mr Bucket. For our stay We originally booked an ocean unit but that building has been closed for quite some time. It is the only building that has an ocean view. I do not see that it could be repaired and open anytime soon.

Stayed at flamingo so can’t speak on rooms (timeshare) resort was pleasant. Nice landscape and pool, beach and hot tub was good. Overall experience with staff was very nice. Not sure if we were out of season but resort was kind of deserted minus the excursion and staff (late Nov, early Dec)

  • 3/5 Samantha O. 6 months ago on Google
Please do not be fooled by other reviews. Maybe it depends on time of year but in November the staff here couldn’t care less. The ferry is down, still unsure of this is common for it to go days without working because the staff was very apathetic and not sure if the ferry was running or if a van would be replacing it. Because sometimes it was a van with questionable hours. Which to me if this was a random fluke about the ferry I would assume staff would be more apologetic and concerned…. Be wary if you are staying at Taino Beach Resort and you’re NOT WITH A TIME SHARE you are across the street at the Flamingo Bay Hotel, which has nothing that this hotel offers but you have access to the pool and beach. No safes in the rooms across the street, No do not disturb signs, barely locking doors which requires you to bring any important things with you all day long…..they will pressure you into a time share so just say no to everything. Restaurant closes at 6PM forcing you to go to Port Lucaya for later dinner or anything (because there’s nothing going on here) so if the shuttle has unreliable hours you can almost count on getting stuck across the harbor because no one will tell you a straight answer about anything. Also no ATM here, closest is Port Lucaya. Make sure you come with bundles of cash (that you have to carry around because again no safes) because half the time the card reader is also down. Don’t even get me started about how sketchy it is that everyone asks for your room number, the ferry you have to sign in with your room number, the taxis will ask….what is that about???? honestly this “vacation” gave me so much anxiety with the unreliability and unconcern of the staff here. Don’t come here in November, or with high expectations, or if you don’t have a time share. The pool is dark green, but The beach is nice though

I absolutely LOVED Taino. We did the day pass and had a great time. It wasn’t overly crowded, the bartender at the swim up bar was so sweet, and everything was clean. 3-5 minute walk from the beach and also a cute restaurant nearby.

I want to thank the Jet Ski excursion staff for a beautiful birthday memory. Peaceful, serene water and Professional staff. The resort was fun, pool, restaurant and friendly staff. I wish you all the best.

This was a very spacious place we stayed. But, it is in great need of updating and repair. The air conditioning units leaked water on both room floors (we had to lay paper towels down the entire trip). All of the cabinets had issues opening, due to misaligned hinges. They need to have ways of cleaing your feet of the fine sand at entrance areas from beach (just one worked on west side entrance). My wife is 5.3 and she had difficulty getting cups out of the cabinets because all the kitchen counters were VERY high. We had keys for both entrances but only one worked. Gave up on the hall entrance. LOTS of potential here though! Beautiful grounds and access to beach. Due to not always being able to clean feet of the fine sand, our floors would get sandy. No place around the pools to clean well. All that is needed was some kind of bucket of water or more cleaning faucets.

We stayed in room #5404, there was no safe, broken lamp, broken fan, air unit dripping water EVERYWHERE , broken toaster. Spoke with supervisor Mr.Pratt and reported the issues, he said he would look for another room to transfer us. We were there 7 days and no new room and did not fix the issues. We went for my son's birthday and it was honestly the worst time share I have been at in the last 20 years. The onsite restaurant closes at 5,most things on the island close super early. I would recommend visiting another carribean destination and save yourself the trouble there in Freeport!

Please read before you stay here for a week. I’ll start positive to be kind but negatives are deal breakers. I was so sadly disappointed that I didn’t sift through the CRUISE REVIEWS. If you are cruising, ignore me. The people are all so kind, it almost hurts to be negative but honestly this place needs a major renovation. We stayed in 5112 (after being told we booked ocean view)… we were ground level and we couldn't change for 2/3 days so we didn’t bother. I’ll break down pros/cons but honestly this is a HARD PASS for a week. Let’s start positive: location was great, the beach was great and very remote. There was virtually no one there so you hardly fought for anything on non-cruise days. The people are so nice. The DJ, bless him tried to get everyday going to be fun, drinks are fairly strong for the cost, lots of beach seats and unmanned activities (cornhole, ping pong, etc), on site restaurant was decent, activities are available (boat tours, jet skis…), pool is huge, the slide, and maybe the spaciousness of the room. The cons: they only accommodate cruise people coming in (for example: they close down the pool slide at 4:30pm daily , they only have lifeguards for the slide when cruises are dropped off, restaurant also closes then, activities during cruise people times, etc. when there is NO CRUISE. It’s a free for all. Children are climbing up the slide because no one is paying attention and you have to be very cautious using it. Cruise people leave trash all over the place that isn’t picked up until the next day at some point, nothing is open after 5, the pool is perpetually green, has floating combos and trash & is dirty, there is ZERO security (people without wrist bands wandered in off a boats) Four guys rolled up and sat in the grotto bar talking about driving their boat up and just finding the place (mind you, the grotto is IN the pool for guests only) they were rude to people who were staying there and there was no one to man the place and kick them out, (wrist bands are useless), local teens used the pool at night and were screaming “I’m horny” & fighting with people inside at night time it’s like a free watering hole- it feels grossly unsafe at times our room never got below 75, our tv never worked after it rained, THERE IS NO IN ROOM WIFI, the bug bites are still itchy as I type from home. At one point a group of kids were told to get off the slide after hours and their drunk adults said “they’re not mine” - which they were, and the kids continued to be clowns and even throw a basketball into a group of people below them off the closed slide & taunt them after. There are NO RULES after 5pm because no one is employed there afterwards. These are mostly timeshare people who don’t know better so before you waste a week, please look at the reviews of people who stayed here not cruising in for $25. Drinks are 16 ounces $9-11 dollars, happy hour is 2/$12 8 ounces.

Great beach, close to shopping and food. View of the ocean while eating at the restaurant was priceless. No conventional oven but the microwave was supposed to be a convection oven. Didn't have great results. Beds were OK but the chairs were not. Towels are hard to replace, laundry is on 2nd and 3rd floors. Not great. Weather caused snorkeling to be canceled and couldn't get a refund. Time share sales pitch was not 1.5 hrs. More like 3 hrs. Did not get the rum they promised. Staff was generally wonderful to deal with. The area is still recovering from a huge hurricane and the covid fiasco. I am sure as the time moves on the area will rebound to old status. Fished off the rock jetty. Good snapper spot. Groceries are very expensive and so is eating out. Bring food if you can. I would pack 50 pounds and pay $30 for checked bags next go around. We enjoyed it. I would consider going back but maybe look at other islands.

This resort was beautiful. The water was clear and cold when I went I got in for a few minutes then enjoyed myself at the pool area. The water slide was fun. The restaurant on the beach the food was delicious. Try the fried conch and fries delicious. I would definitely go back.

Great place to stay! Our room was a 9. Loved our balcony. Great pool. Great restaurant. Just needs new mattress. Very worn and a lamp on nightstands. Beautiful place.

The pool and the people are awesome. The beds are so dang hard it was hard, for this old bod to sleep. We paid the deposit for the pool towels, when we left we tried to get the deposit back we had lost the receipt so they would not give us our deposit back. Having the shuttle bus is a great perk. I loved our visiting kitty that came to visit every evening. It's a great place to visit. But, once was enough for us. Also was told I would get back the 100 dollar deposit, got home to find out they charged me 130 per room. We rented 2 rooms. That was never reimbursed either. So, be prepared to dispute some charges on your credit card. Once in a lifetime vacation for us.

The best part about the trip was the Bahamian people, so nice and friendly! We also had a nice time at the pool; the restaurant was decent. The worst part was our room. We got stuck in the Coral building and it was the worst room I’ve ever stayed in. The Marlin building seems ok though (we took a cruel tour as part of the timeshare sales pitch). The Coral building room was so dated and tacky. The walls were PINK-tinted mirrors that were delaminating. Fixtures were rusted. Screws missing or rusted from the light switch plate covers and don’t even get me started on the kitchen. Faux coral walls, doors, everything. The bed was a Murphy bed. The shower was glass blocks, so you couldn’t turn on the light when you used the restroom in the middle of the night because it lit up the entire room. It was so tacky and everything was PINK! It also had a non-functioning spa thing on the patio that was empty. The door stuck, so that every time anyone used it it slammed loudly. The air conditioner leaked and was loud. It was a nightmare and we were stuck in it during Hurricane Ian with no where else to go. It did have a nice view of the pool though. Other cons: *The pictures show a lazy River, but there were no floats (you were expected to bring your own or buy them at the store). * I was excited by the swim up bar, but it wasn’t open the entire time we were there, so we got drinks from the restaurant and brought them over ourselves. *There is an on site restaurant, but it closed at 4 PM every day and the menu was limited. *There were not any other restaurants around, so we went to Port Lucaya on the ferry ($8 round trip per person) for dinner. This was fine with us, but when a tropical storm hit the ferry shut down and the only option for delivery was ordering pizza (or a $30 taxi ride to go a few miles, round trip). *We came in the off season hoping to avoid crowds. Turns out that was a bad idea because most things were shut down due to a lack of people. In fact, the shops at the Port were closed nearly every day that the cruise ships weren’t in, which was most days. Only one vendor was open at the straw market the entire week we were there. Pros: *The Bahamian people are so lovely and tried to make our trip good. Desmond (“golden nugget”) added another snorkeling tour to the schedule for us, even though it was a free perk of sitting through their timeshare presentation. He knew I came there to dive and hadn’t been able to because of the storm, so his efforts make up a whole star of this review because it saved our trip from being a complete waste of time and money. *The ferry was a fun way to get to the Port. *The snorkel trip to Rainbow Reef was good. The reef was not in great shape, but it was lovely. I wish I could have gotten to Paradise Cove. *The beach is clean and has soft white sand. Not much to see if you want to snorkel - just sea grass. They had plenty of toys (banana not, jet ski, etc), if you are into that sort of thing.

I’ll get to the point. The resort posted floats for the lazy river, there were none. The staff in the grotto were rude. It took forever to get our food and it was ok. For the price, it should have been excellent. The prices overall were ridiculous and at this point I’m not sure I was charged properly. Don’t talk to them about it because again, they were rude. There are NO lockers and this means you have to swim around with your personal belongings or just leave them laying on a lawn chair with hopes that no one steals your stuff. The slide was fun.

The stay at the Flamingo hotel was terrible. The resort offers better rooms. The bed mattress and pillows are awful, you will wake up with back pains. You definitely need to rent a vehicle. There's nothing around.

We stayed here as an anniversary trip and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The rooms are spacious with lots of closet space, a large shower, and a fully-equipped kitchen with enough items to cook your own meals if desired. The resort includes several lodging buildings adjacent Taino Beach, with available umbrellas and chairs on the beach; a restaurant with great food that faces the beach; an outdoor pool with lazy river, pool bar, and water slide; outdoor whirlpool hot tub; and, Lucayan Watersports on-site for renting jet skis, snorkel gear, etc. along with the ability to arrange off-resort excursions. NOTE: I didn't take photos of the resort itself (their website has all that) but have shared those of the beach at night and of other places on Grand Bahama we visited during our week long stay.

  • 3/5 Gregory R. 2 years ago on Google
Rooms are dated, bed was little better than a board, and wifi was spotty. That said, the beach itself was fabulous and the pool with the slide was great.

  • 5/5 Tiffany L (. 1 year ago on Google
Everyone there is friendly and treats you like family. It has a private beach and is only a ferry ride away from Lacaya (where you can do shopping and go to restaurants) and they will drive you to the grocery store. I can't wait to come back.

The resort is laid back and quaint. If you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere with the option for watersport activities, a restaurant and swim up bar then this a great choice.

  • 2/5 Jennifer E. 1 year ago on Google
The vegetation and views are beautiful. However, the patio around the pool and the rooms are in need of maintenance and repair. The patio area has many areas that are heaving up or dipping down (major trip and fall hazard). The rooms are showing age and neglect with shelves being broken, phones not working, TV coming in fuzzy, hide-a-beds worn to the point of something you would find in a 1 star motel, and the doors very hard to open. Some of the workers are great and seem to really care about your experience. However, when you tell the front desk about issues (such as the phone not working), they say they will fix it and they never do. There is so much trash on the beach that it is depressing. This could be a beautiful, wonderful place, however it seems that not enough of the staff care about it enough to fix the issues.

I've enjoyed taino beach for 20 years. I love the location, the way the grounds are always alive with color, and the friendliness of the people. God willing i hope to enjoy this place another 20 years. If you have not experienced taino beach, you are missing out on one beautiful experience. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants peace and tranquility, beauty at its best, and people who always make you feel like you've come home ,this is the place. Try it, you will be glad you did. Can't wait for my next trip.
