One of the greatest gallery of painting I've ever seen, with Friedrich and Richter, but also Monet, Van Gogh, and Dix. On top of that, the collection includes works of less known artists, such as Max Slevogt, a German Impressionist, whose cycle of Egyptian oils was a great surprise for me as an example of a rare and daring truthfulness.

(Translated by Google) You go through time in the picture, you step down a few centuries and then modernity is also in special exhibitions. Only the constant noise of the video presentation is unspeakable. Meaningless, hollow, annoying. If you put in a goat that complains, it would at least have style.

Has few important pieces and also pieces from Picasso, Manet, Monet, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, Degas, Klimt, Rodin, Basquiat , Caspar Friedrich (probably they are on loan). Overall a nice museum to spend time if you are interested in art. But I couldn’t understand why they advertise with an original-copy of Rodin’s The Thinket when there is plenty of originals from important artists listed above.

A beautiful art museum. The building is impressive and there are several exhibition areas: The sculpture hall, the "Klingersaal" (more sculptures), "Galerie Neue Meister" (paintings from the Romantic period to the present day) and an area where changing special exhibitions are located. Among the personal highlights are some impressionistic paintings by Degas, Monet and Max Liebermann.

(Translated by Google) Conceptual chaos and poor signage make the visit a frustrating experience. Behind the large entrance door that leads directly into the staircase, visitors can expect for the first time ... NOTHING! No sign, no notice, no cash register, no reception. NOTHING. You are disoriented and slowly feel your way forward. It is only on request from the security guard that you learn that your jacket and bag must be left in a cloakroom in the basement. There is no indication of this anywhere. Even in the basement, no sign, no signpost. On the left you can find out about other visitors. Back at the top, the security service sends you back to the basement, next to an unmarked bookshop behind a concrete wall there are tickets. We want to go to the special exhibition, but we have to pay for all parts of the museum, including the Lipsius building. We do not know where and what the Lipsius building is. Notices anywhere, nowhere. Back at the top we have to notice that the pictures of the special exhibition hang in all rooms, with other artists in between. So we go on the search, because there is also no signposting. Some visitors wear a guide. We would also have liked to have. Where is it? No idea. No hint. Again in the basement? No more lust. Finally we see Rayski's magnificent paintings, we would like to have known more about them, but the exhibition catalog is not available. The explanations in the exhibition text are limited to two wall texts. A Polish-born security guard tells us something about the pictures, but falls silent quickly, because he is not allowed to speak to the visitors. But he shows us the scattered pictures of the special exhibition. Conclusion: chaotic, free of concept, unfriendly to visitors and above all badly prepared. P. S. Over half of the special exhibition is sketches and studies of paintings that are not shown.

(Translated by Google) It's a bit different from the art museum in Vienna. Once there is a secluded, impressive sculpture, there is also an exhibition room where you just collected the sculptures. Among the paintings are Gauguin, Degas one by one, Expressionist works and works related to war. Recommended for those interested in art.

One of the most amazing museums in Dresden and there is not an English text on a few of the exhibits. Also I interacted with 5 employees, changed 3 floors, until someone was able to help me in english with the audioguide. Want to charge tourists 20 euros for a ticket? Then act as professionals and hire personel that at least speak english!

Wonderful museum. My personal favorite in Dresden, perhaps all of Deutschland. Beautiful artworks and sculptures here, including many from masterful artists local to Dresden area. Magnificent works from artists such as Max Slevogt, Caspar David Friedrich, Hans Grundig, Otto Dix, Max Liebermann, Oskar Zwintscher... Quite possibly the greatest collection of artwork from late 19th / early 20th century German painters in the world.

Great art gallery with a very good selection of artworks. They have for instance Gerhard Richter, Tillmanns, Dix, Casper David Friedrich and many more awesome artists on display. The house itself is beautiful too!

  • 5/5 Marius S. 1 year ago on Google
Impressive and varied collection, but overall the gallery is pretty compact, which leaves a nice feeling of wanting more, but not dying from how overwhelmed you are. Also didn't expect to see several of Rodin's original sculptures there!

  • 4/5 Andrew S. 1 year ago on Google
The building, the artworks, the sculptures... on which so many people have commented. However, one strange policy is that people are not allowed to enter the gallery with their jackets. I have visited so many museums everywhere. Mandatory for such a thing never happened before. Without a purse or a backpack is totally understandable.

Big museum with an impressive collection ranging from older masterpieces with pinches of contemporary art. Good to come for a quick check on the free Sundays or for a more in depth visit for which one should put a couple of hours aside for contemplating Art.

  • 2/5 Kestutis V. 10 months ago on Google
The collection of the Neue Meister is bad. Only few good artists, only few art works of high level: one work of Degas, one of Picasso, on of Loutreck, one Klee… and a lot of bad and very bad art, I am sorry. But if you love soviet-german art - this museum for you. You say Richter? Bad commercial art.

  • 4/5 Klaus W. 1 year ago on Google
Interesting collection of mostly local German art going back to the 18th century, if you have a keen interest in that it's right up your alley, if you are a "normal" tourist you might find this to be quite overpriced for what it has to offer. The building looks great on the outside and had a modern feel on the inside. As most museums in Germany and Austria it's quite frustrating to visit as there are no clear circuits of how to do it and you always get this feeling you missed something. The staff are a bit like hawks watching you but pictures are allowed everywhere, this is a big plus.

(Translated by Google) Very extensive museum in which you get an incredible amount of impressions. The most impressive thing is probably when you - like me - have been to the gallery of the old masters in the Zwinger directly beforehand. Then it's like a step into the modern age. From oil paintings that are still older to the very latest art, everything is included, and the sculptures are also very interesting. Entry price very cheap, with the Sparkassencard only 9 euros (Original) Sehr umfangreiches Museum in dem man unglaublich viele Eindrücke bekommt. We started above with the "New Masters" Due to a lack of information, we started with the very modern and sometimes incomprehensible works. I have to say it is of course up to each viewer what he sees in these works. The works of Caspar David Friedrich and Nolde Kandinsky are wonderful It is definitely worth a visit. What I find annoying is this constant showing of the ticket (Original) Sehr schönes Gebäude unerwartet die große Halle im inneren sehr hell und modern.
