We had a fantastic night here as France won the match against Morocco. Such fun ambiance and crowd. Bartenders were really nice. They had multiple TV screens so it was awesome to watch the match and not miss anything if someone was blocking one screen. Food was good as well. Definitely a good place to go to watch your games.

You're really not supposed to take the fish off of the fries. Once you lay them onto the fake newspaper, that paper will dissolve. Putting decor over taste? Kind of a bad move from the restaurant. You should account for the average inebriated customer like me for not being able to account for wet-paper-physics. Actually, is that why the Fish-batter tasted like medicine? And unlike fish at all? We had an amazing night for the world cup finals Argentina-France 😊. They put three huge screens for everyone in the pub to watch. They usually just have big TVs. they have a nice place outdoors during spring but everyone is smocking, it's the only thing about the place that I don't like, but it's out of their control I guess. One of the best burgers in Freiburg. Combine them with Irish Ciders. Nice vegetarian options as well. Tried mushroom burger and chilli corn nachos burger. Really good. Value for money.

First of all, I wanted to give a back story of why I gave the food only 1 star. I visited O'Kelly's for the first time upon a friend's recommendation to try their fish and chips. It's the chef's recommendation and I love fish and chips! Sadly, the white fish was under seasoned or not seasoned at all. The batter was undercooked so everything was soggy. The fries were cold and also not seasoned. I was really disappointed because I was really looking forward to it, especially after being caught in the rain. We told the server about the fish. He listened to us very attentively and told us that they had gotten a different fish over the Christmas season. And then he said he would communicate with the chef and his boss about the fish. And then he came back to our table and thanked us repeatedly for letting them know about the fish. He didn't charge us for our table. I have to say the service recovery is very very good but I almost felt as if they knew that they would have problems with the new fish and the server came to us prepared with an answer. Maybe it's me overthinking. Also I don't think the fish is the only problem but also the cooking. Other than that, the ambience was good. It's as Irish as an Irish bar goes. We walked into a full restaurant and it was bustling and quite loud. We were lucky to have found a table ourselves. The server was quick to come to our table and took our orders. The servers spoke perfect English for customers who don't speak German. It's maybe 10 minutes on foot from the train station. Despite the food, I would visit again the next time I'm in Freiburg. Hopefully the food is better next time.

Excellent beer! They keep excellent stout called O'Haras and I cannot recommend enough. The staff are polite and wait tables saving you the hassle of going to the bar. Sport is on the TV and we got to enjoy the rugby world cup. Atmosphere is relaxed.

We went for one of the euro 2021 games. The main area of the bar is super delightful and gives strong Irish pub vibes. We were seated in the adjacent room because of the euro crowd and there it was bit of a dampner. But the food and the drinks more than made up for it. Of course they have Guiness. The shepherds pie is amazing and so are the other typical grub you find in Irish pubs. It's really affordable and the service is on point. Only relatively bad point, if one could call it that, would be the location of the pub, which is right next to the opera House. But that's just me.
