An amazing restaurant in an unlikely location. Definitely worth the effort to get there. Meal was delightful - we took the vegetarian 6 courses with a pairing of non-alcoholic drinks. A mix of very different flavours and textures. The staff were very happy to speak English to us. The ambience is professional but not overly formal.

While I was looking forward to our visit to this restaurant, it was an overall disappointing experience. We were pretty much ignored by the staff (45min to take our food order) while they took excellent care of their locals. The food was dull and did not live up to the relatively high pricing or its fancy descriptions.

One of the BEST restaurant ever tried in Germany! Hospitality , know how , elegance and real Taste all mixed vith Art for you ! I will certainly return !!!

The food was amazing, worth the experience! I had the 5-course menu. Keep in mind that it takes time to go through all the courses, you need to have time.

Overpriced, super slow service (you have to wait 30 mins between lunch courses in only 30% full restaurant), the starter and the main were tasty but nothing special. The dessert was bad (dry, poor taste and texture). The presentation of the food is very poor. The sauces looked like a pool of puke on the dessert and the starter. The interior and the terrace are very nice though. I wish they could do better with the food and the service.

What can I say …. The restaurant it self is amazing …. The music … the ambiance….. it make u feel like you are in another dimension. The staff … they make you feel like home …very welcoming…. Friendly faces…. The food was just amazing …. From the antipasti to the dessert …. Will come back of course

We have ordered two 5-course menu incl. one vegan. We enjoyed the dinner especially BBQ Sellerie, Thunfisch and desserts. Wine pairing was also great. Very nice staff. But very expensive. The most expensive dinner in my life so far 😅

tl;dr: good (but not excellent) food; they kept us there for way too long. This isn’t an easy review to write. ESSENCE is an upscale restaurant (they might even be hoping for a Michelin star at some point) and that comes with certain expectations, which (might I add, on that specific day; your experience may vary) were not entirely met. They offer a tasting style menu which comes with multiple courses, and that’s what we went for. The food is very nicely prepared and presented, and there is an interesting variety of options. It didn’t blow my mind, but I objectively cannot say it was bad. The biggest problem for us was the service. None of the servers were rude or unhelpful, quite the opposite, they just kept us there way too long. The whole menu took over four hours to be served, with gaps of sometimes almost half an hour between courses. I don’t know whether that was intentional or not (it’s entirely possible they were short staffed, it’s COVID times after all), but we felt it was too much and it’s the first time it took us this long to get our food, even in comparison with similar restaurants with even more courses. Overall an enjoyable dining experience, blemished by weirdly slow service.

We spent a wonderful evening here: it was a very interesting mix of tastes with a beautiful presentation. The personnel was very kind and delicate. Plus a nice romantic atmosphere... yes, the place is definitely worth coming! Ps. There is also large underground parking and 3 hours being paid by the restaurant;)

So I went to this place because we were celebrating with my family. Honestly, the food and wine are gorgeous. If you ever go to this place I can recommend you to get the 3 or 4 course menu with wine. The Restaurant is well decorated but the music was a bit too loud for my taste. I have no complaints about the food but I do have a concern that took a star away from this review. Now the reason why I took a star off is because from all the 4 people we were in the table not even once I was asked if I enjoyed my food, most of the time I was completely ignored. I felt it a bit disrespected and I hope that if I go there again as I really loved the food that I will be treated as a guest.

Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and friendly service.

Our father just invited our family to a meal at this beautiful restaurant yesterday. We had three vegetarian, and one „normal“ essence menu. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter was beyond friendly, funny, accommodating and made us feel very well looked after. Definitely recommend

Excellent cuisine and atmosphere

Some of the most amazing food i ever tasted, great service and tasty wine. Special thanks to tatjana and her excellent catering!

Very nice and relaxed athmosphere in the restaurant. The wine pairing to the food was excellent. The food looks great and the favourite of the evening were the risotto, tamago and the side bread. On the main dish, the winter cod, the curry flavoured soupc was a bit overwhelming the delicate taste of the fish but still very palatable to eat.

I got food poisoning. I think it was the tartare. The service was very long, 4 hours for a 6 courses meal. That’s a lot.

Me and my husband had a date night, first one in 2 years. We were not allowed to enter the restaurant, because I had only (!) Versicherungskarte and photo of my Aufenthaltstitel to prove my identity. It wasn't enough. The restaurant called me the day before to confirm the reservation, so they had an opportunity to mention that they need driver's license or passport itself to proove my identity 🤷🏼‍♀️
