Just a stones throw from the oldest building in WA this Italian 🇮🇹 restaurant has the charm, taste and looks of a very good Italian restaurant. The charming Italian staff greet you and do a very good job with their communication. They have a good small menu of entrees and mostly pasta mains. Their wine list is very extensive and their name does mean wine for the people in Italian. Their pasta mains are not very big portions as you are used to in Aussie Australian restaurants. It’s quality over quantity and this is what this place does best. Their pasta are very Al dente and very tasty. Their potato agnalotti was the star ⭐️ dish of the night. Couldn’t fault them on service, ambience, drinks and food. Was a great night and dinner 🍽️

Had a few small dishes and dessert. The sardines were really good but everything else was just average. Sadly I don't think the food matches the hype. Service was very friendly but the place is really loud and hectic. If that's your thing, go for it. But overall it was a bit disappointing for us.

Fantastic traditional Italian cuisine served in a European styled retro and cosy environment . The service was great and prompt, the staff warm and friendly. Very good wine selection as the name of the restaurant reflects. The food was delicious with beautiful textures and flavours. Price and portion sizes were also reasonable.If I was to be critical the only thing would be, it needs a broader selection of menu choices, would be nice to see some more dishes to choose, as it was a bit limited, however! Will definitely be returning.

My partner and I dined here in September, and it was the first and last time we will. From get go the service was terrible. I’m all for being new and different compared to the rest of the basic restaurants in Fremantle, it to seat people down and not even bother to explain to them how ordering or how the menu works? Simply pointing at the board is far from an explanation, and when the staff would come over and talk to us we could barely understand them from their heavy accents. And no we’re not ‘Australians’ if that’s what you’re thinking, both myself and my partner are from a European background and know what good food and service should be like - and it wasn’t from Vin Populi! For our mains we both ordered the squid ink pasta, and that is because our other choices apparently were no longer available. If there’s food that’s no longer available here’s a thought, wipe it off your blackboards and re-write it when it is for your customers. The pasta was heavily lacking love and flavour as it was tasteless and it was as if you’re just eating pasta coated in a thick layer of unflavoured squid ink sauce. Also the pricing, I’m all for paying top dollar for good quality food. But unfortunately we paid top dollar for rude service as well as u flavoursome food. We have been to many restaurants around Perth for squid ink pasta, and this one was by far the worst we both have ever tried! Also the atmosphere, if you’re wanting to come for an intimate dining experience with a loved one or even for a family celebration I highly do not recommend coming here!

My current favourite restaurant in Perth, and up there with the best I’ve ever been to. The interior is beautiful, staff are perfection and the food is even better. Book ahead as it’s so popular and rightly so! Ask to sit outside if you struggle to hear as can get noisy indoors when busy. Been multiple times and I think about it for days after.

Wow! What a great find! First time in WA and found this place online. The food is spectacular. Wished I could have licked the plate! The linguine vongole was perfect and the spaghetti and meatballs was mouthwatering. And the wait staff are so friendly and obliging. The water was replaced as soon as the bottle was emptied. So attentive. Highly recommend

Beautiful food and service in the quiet streets of Freo. I’ve been here on two occasions, the first time with friends and I tried the Linguine ala Vongole and the Italian Donuts. Second time, I came for date night with my partner. He had a beautiful lobster pasta and i opted for Porchetta. All was lovely except i wasn’t sure about the lentils that came with my dish 🥹 Also loved the wine list. Will be back again to try the rest of the menu!

Very nice restaurant in the heart of Fremantle. Several waiters and waitresses took care of us and made sure everything was appreciated. The food was authentic and delicious, along with a massive selection of Italian wines from different regions, even though I was surprised that they had only one bottle from Puglia. A great experience overhaul, highly recommended.
