This is a great place to start exploring Kings Canyon. Easy in and out if not too busy with wide, groomed paths winding up gradually up hill that most will have little trouble navigating. Statuesque giant sequoias clustered in a giant bowl leaving you feeling rather small by comparison and the resonant power of nature. Spiritual and physically emotional. Might be less so during the busy spring /summer season.

Grant Grove area and the General Grant Tree are amazing! You have to travel about an hour and a 1/2 if you came in from Woodlake, CA, but it is well worth it. We traveled here from Florida with a gentleman who has never been to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park and he was amazed. This was last year when the snow fall was down during April! We had to rent snow shoes, but we had an amazing time. We were able to still get the great experience of snow and dirt as we hiked for 2 days on different trails and two different elevation levels. A lot of the original paths were closed, but that is where the snow shoes came in. We were able to trek towards Big Stump, General Sherman and more.... The rivers were loaded with ice and running very fast. I go back almost every time I visit the Valley as I used to live 15 miles from the entrance. Yes it can be tough to drive up and find parking when it is busy, yes there is a lot tourist and yes it can be frustrating. Remember this is a part of the world you might never see again, so enjoy it, clean up after yourself and enjoy time with your friends and family.

This was the first spot we stopped at while in the area. It was first time seeing the Sequoias out of the car. They are an incredible sight! This is a great first spot to stop at as you don't need to do a lot of walking. You can also walk through a hollowed out Sequoia, which is really cool!

I didn't expect this to be as cool as it was, but we really loved seeing this! The paths are easy and fun and there's a fallen hollow tree you can walk through as well. You have to be there in person to really understand the size of the trees. We went on a Monday afternoon and it wasn't very crowded either, a big plus.

Impressive! Very impressive!! That's all I can say. This park is more than worth a visit! Take a jacket as it can be very cold. Take a camera (preferably with wide angle lens for the tall trees) as you will want to take pictures of these incredible and gigantic trees!

Amazing and Magnonimous!! We look so tiny in front of these huge and majestic Sequoia trees.. a peaceful place to meditate and be with nature. Snow adds charm to this place.. just must visit.

We only spent two days in Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks in our time in California. It definitely was not enough time and if you get the opportunity I would highly recommend at least three days to take it all in. It truly is a beautiful and magical place! These pictures are from the General Grant area and my favorite place of our time in the parks. If we had spent more time perhaps I would have liked a different spot better. I really like this spot because it had the most numerous amount of Sequoias of where we stopped. It also had an opening from the trail as if to invite you into the wilderness.....it was open and there were no sign to say not to enter so we went up! It made me want to go back and spend a full day hiking in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. It was such an enchanting piece of nature! I can't recommend a trip here enough!

It’s a bit of a drive to get to but the scenery on the way alone made it worth it. I was blown away at the beauty of the park and honestly wish i didn’t have to leave. The staff was friendly and a joy to talk to definitely a spot worth visiting again!

Fantastic experience!! There was a winter storm this week and today also it snowed a lot. The southern entrance to the sequoia park from the Three rivers is currently closed due to the recent fire, it made us drop the plan to see the general Sherman tree and so we went to see the General Grant tree. It was our first time to see the giant trees and the experience is unforgettable. The chains are required currently. It’s recommended to buy a set of chains. Make sure to match the chain size with your tire size, view how to videos and try to put chains on your tire before you reach the ice clad roads to avoid getting wet, facing snow etc. It’s not very hard to put the chain in the tires and would be great if you have a friend to help you.The park staff works continuously to clear the snow from the roads and that is very helpful in driving.

What a cool experience to see this! The General Grant Tree is surreal in person. Crazy that it’s the widest known sequoia at 40ft across! Nice easy 1/2 mile trail, with a bit of uphill & downhill in places, but not bad.

General grant tree is beautiful and impressive. Plenty of parking, to see the tree is a short hike but there is so much more to explore. We got to walk inside a Sequoia tree...that was a highlight. We spend a few hours here and even though there was many other visitors it never felt crowded. This is a must if visiting Kings Canyon.

Wow the size of the trees were breath taking. Busy but not too crowded for October. Sadly weather was misty so couldn't see some of the attractions. Still enjoyed our visit. Bought a year's membership so this trip was free.

Park with Sequoias. I've known, that these tree are huge, but haven't thought, that too much! This place is quite on working days (visited in September). Area isn't big. Trees are amazing! This area is a part of Kings Canyon National Park, is near entrance to there.

This area is breathtakingly amazing. No picture will ever do these trees justice. Don't go to the Sequoia Park entrance right now, the road is out and you can't see any of these trees. Instead plant to go to King's Canyon instead. They have a set of trees asking with General Grant that you can explore. Definitely worth the trip, even in the snow. You'll need a 4wd vehicle and could be asked if you have snow chains as a precaution.

This place is always beautiful if you love nature, and even if you don't, the sceneries will catch your eye and remain as wonderful memories. I took my 4 year old grandson, and he lived playing in the snow and was especially amazed by the thickness of our General Grant Tree.

General Grant is so big that a fire was extinguished while trying to take it down. No camera can capture the scale of this natural wonder! Definitely a must see in your lifetime!

I honestly am unable to express the feelings being amongst these giants brought to me. You feel so insignificant looking up and then reading how long these majestic trees have lived. One alone is over 1700 years old. I am only able to say for myself and my wife it was truly spiritual. Please if you ever have the chance come and become lost in the in the tranquility of these breathtaking giants.

Unbelievably tall trees. They are taller than the tall trees I have seen around the world. The alpine mountains are full of wonders. The tree hugging experience of those giants was the best experience in my life! Mental health therapy!

Amazing place. Grand tree is 268 ft second tallest tree around the area. And this is world 3rd tallest tree. Short hike of around 3 miles. Weak reception in this area. Must place to visit on way to Hume lake.

Beautiful Grove of Sequoia and they are massive. It's difficult to comprehend until you see them in person. Parking at bottom of hill. Trail is smooth and easy. A sight to see.

It was so magical to walk through these giants. The trees are so majestic . Parking lot is very small , its little challenging to find a spot. Restrooms were well kept. General grant is the major attaraction. Our group had a great time exploring.

Amazing. There's no words or photos to describe this, you just have to experience it. I recommend doing one of these other loops as well. The general grant tree loop is popular but the other loops are nice and less crowded.

The tree was gorgeous. The walk is easy, a bit uneven because of debris from the rain, but a beautiful walk. Not steep except for the spot you walk up to see the burn scar on General Grant. This path has slightly steep rock stairs with no handrail, or a path on the other that is slightly steep. There are benches to sit on over the entire walk, providing it has not rained.

What amazing Grove of Giants. Need go walk more areound the area. Sad to see that in other places they have cut then down and all you see are burnt stumps. We need to keep protecting. It's such an awe to be among such huge beautiful old friends.

AMAZING! A must see when you visit Sequoia National Park. The trail is easy to find and the walk to the tree is not bad at all. The tree stands tall and majestic! :-) come prepared to be amazed at this natural wonder!

You have to see this stuff in person! You may see some folks in the distance on some of my pictures to help you understand just how large these trees are. And I don't know about anyone else but there's a magical feeling I get when walking around these giants. I can't explain it...but it's definitely worth the trip. Lots of other stuff to see in the Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks as well so drive/hike around. I had no cell coverage so I definitely recommend paying attention to the roads you're on and keep the park map handy. There is a fee to enter the National Parks. I think it's like $30 for a 7 day pass or $80 for an annual pass good for all National Parks. I got the Annual Pass and live close by so I'm definitely going back! 👍😎👍

We try to visit a few times a year. Great place to walk around and see tons of huge trees. There a plenty of hikes to enjoy. This park is majestic to say the least!

We went there for our Squaw Valley American Legion Post #621 Veterans Day Ceremony at the General Grant Giant Sequoia Tree. Love this place, and it is so much more meaningful after the ceremony. Free admission on Veterans Day! Earlier that morning we raised the flags at the Squaw Valley cemetery. Enjoy my photos.

The road for General Sherman was closed so the ranger suggested we should visit General Grant. I did not even know about this to be honest. What a magnificent being. The picture do not show how huge this tree is as all the surrounding trees as huge. Very good experience. Parking is nearby and to walk around the tree it is a half a mile walk.

So glad roads were open etc. In awe at how beautiful Gods creations are. Note-wear appropriate shoes. I had tennis shoes on as forgot to pack hiking or snow shoes. Slippery for sure there!!!!!

The General Grant tree was a wonderful experience. The snow was an added bonus! It made the whole experience that much sweet. We originally planned on going to the Sherman tree on the south side but due to road closures we ended up here. Best detour ever made. This was life time experience and I recommend going here. We didn't need chains! 12miles going into the park! I recommend checking the road status before heading to give daily updates. Best of luck
