So we arrive here and the food smells great. Place looks clean and hostess is friendly. Server was cool initially. I'm gonna start with everything that was good about the restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly and in front of the kitchen. On top of being seated quickly we were also greeted quickly by our server and again the place was very clean looking. Food wise, the things that were good were the potato skins, ice cream and our drinks. Everything else was not that great. Our server, Mayra for some reason was very passive aggressive towards us. They were busy however even considering that she wasn't very attentive towards us but was towards other tables. Our food didn't take that long to come out, maybe 30 minutes tops. It did sit on the counter though for about 7 minutes until we actually received it. With that in mind our food was more warm than anything. The dishes themselves looked and smelled good, I had the pulled pork sandwich and put my pickles on there with some onions and got to eating. The pork was dry so not a very good start and the fries were way too salty. The pork also had little to no flavor. I had cut the sandwich in half and by the time I was finished with the first half I was considering just straight up walking out. I asked for bbq sauce (don't know why it wouldn't come with a bbq dish) but it did save the second half of the sandwich a bit, enough that I was willing to pay just because its what I should do not because it was worth it. My girlfriend had the tri-tip sandwich and that had little to no flavor meat wise and she didn't get far into hers before deciding that she wouldn't finish it. After that we figured there was no way you could mess up an Apple Crisp but I guess anything is possible. Because the Apple Crisp was not crispy/crunchy at all and if anything it was soft and soggy, mind you the ice cream hadn't even started melting yet. Despite the clean appearance of the restaurant it did come into question if it really was due to a Chihuahua straight up walking out the kitchen with a worker. I wish I could say that was a joke or that it even was a trick of the eyes but we were right by one of the kitchen entrances and saw it for ourselves. Overall this place is not worth whatever you pay and I sincerely wish I could get a refund. I love BBQ and being from Texas and having tried multiple BBQ places in California this is easily the worst one I've been to. I hope my review reaches someone who can actually change something about this restaurant and knows what they're doing when it comes to food, otherwise we will not be back.

Service is amazing! The staff is great, the food taste greats and you won’t be disappointed. Potato skins are a must. The onion rings give a great taste. The ribs are soft and delicious. If you haven’t tried it I recommend you do!

Visited two different nights. First night, baby back ribs were outstanding. Good smoke flavor, cooked and seasoned to perfection. BBQ sauce wasn't needed but tasted great. Second night I had to try the "brisket" burnt ends. The meat was actually chuck roast, and while very tender, not particularly flavorful and preparation was barely "burnt". Pretty disappointed. Staff was outstanding, bourbon selection was on point with a legit large rock for the glass if that's your style. Great place, plenty of TVs, solid food, just skip the "burnt ends".

Had Westwoods a few times and it has ample amount of seating. Atmosphere is generally good dependent on where you sit. The fried chicken was very crispy and breading was not greasy.

With over 2,700 positive reviews, I don’t think there is much that I can add. I’ve dined at Westwoods many times. I love the vibe of the restaurant. It’s like an upscale sports bar with a large, impressive bar and big screen TVs. The smoked meat is spot-on Texas BBQ. I highly recommend the sliced brisket with a side of Golden Mashers and Mac & Cheese (pictured). My usual fav is the Black & Bleu Style Tri Tip plate with crusted black pepper, beer braised shallots, and bleu cheese sauce. My dining partner opted for a non-meat plate: the Strawberry Poppyseed salad. I cannot comment on the desserts displayed in the glass case at the entry because I am usually too full to think about dessert. Highly recommend!

Genuine BBQ atmosphere and bountiful servings. Food is delicious and the staff skilled, professional and forth coming. Definitely worth a visit!

My gf would be angry at me for ordering chicken strips at a restaurant; until today. The chicken strips were amazing and completely changed her perspective. And let me tell you, they were THAT good. So thank you for making ordering chicken strips acceptable for me. At least at Westwoods.

While the food is absolutely fantastic and served wonderfully, Westwood BBQ is also about the experience. The exterior and interior combined with the nice atmosphere makes you feel like you are in the southern states. As a European I had a great experience. I'll definitely return!

Had the brisket burnt ends for the third time and it was bomb as always. The fat melts in your mouth and the meat is smoky and tender. Potato salad was OK, but the green beans were pretty good, had a little bacon in it. Whenever I get up there, I always stop in and treat myself with some delicious brisket. Can't wait for my next trip🙂

They’re way too busy , good food and great culture I rather order online for delivery rather than going to this crowded place , I’ve been waiting for a long time

When seeing the huge BBQ sign adjacent to Hwy 41, located in northeast Fresno, finding Westwoods' physical location - off the highway - can be somewhat daunting! What may also be aggravating is the size and shape of the outside parking area when shared with other eateries in the same shopping center. A busy day/night may be a decent walk to and from the car - be aware of the surroundings. The interior of the restaurant is voluminous with a rustic, almost "western" theme. Staff were friendly, inviting, and very knowledgeable of the menu and options! The menu was filled with "meat" dishes and options to suit anyone's craving! However... when my combination rib and chicken dinner was delivered, my "warm" dinner salad was on the very same plate as the entre! The side of scalloped potatoes were served, on the side, in a cardboard French fry container?! Everything - including the salad - was warm at best. Nothing was hot! A swap between the salad and the scalloped potatoes, from the container to the plate, would have been a reasonable consideration!! Location, parking, and meal delivery will be of serious consideration if returning to Westwoods! I d have to admit, taste was better than expected... just a cold picnic kind of meal. Sorry, Dave... maybe just a bad day.

4.3??? Yeah I don’t get the avg score. I loved this place and the food was incredible!!! Before I get into the food, let me address the service since, I see a lot of negative comments on it. We went on a Wed evening and the place was near capacity. We had no issues with speed or service. We started with the deep fried pickles. Amazing. Perfect. Salty, sour, and we cleared the plate. I’ve heard reviews about these being overly salty?? They are pickles deep fried in batter….. so… yeah. That’s kinda the point. It’s a savory app. I got the Chefs Platter (pictured). Two St. Louis ribs cooked perfectly, a chicken drum wrapped in bacon that was spicy but not overly, a Buffalo chicken slider that was bigger than any other slider I’ve ever seen, a house chicken sausage, a very large portion of pulled pork, two slices of Texas toast, fries and baked beans. Needless to say I made a huge lunch from the leftovers. My gf got The Feast platter (pictured). Two ribs, two very thick, generous slices of tri tip cooked perfectly, massive chicken strips, jalapeño corn bread, fries, coleslaw, baked beans and cream corn. Everything was delicious!!! Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and very generous portions for steak house type prices. Don’t let the 4.3 avg score scare you. This place is great and we WILL be back!!!!

Nice BBQ place. Enjoyed most of the food. Was not too fond of the ribs. I may have just gotten the driest of dry ribs that day. Taste wise - sweet and salty, not bad. Portions are huge, so I'd say the price fits. Good place for family and friends.

We ordered pretty quickly and they accommodated us with a different table as it was pretty cold near the door and I had more elderly company with me. The server was nice and informative. The only negative was the fact that the beans were not my cup of tea since I have never thought tomatoes would go into baked beans. But to each their own. The chicken was amazing as well. Also I hope to see Apple Pay in the future!

This place is GREAT!! My husband and I were on our way back from Yosemite National Park and saw the big BBQ sign from the freeway. Having lived in Texas for a long time, we decided we had to try this place. The cocktails were amazing. I tried the Pumpkin Pie martini. It was sooo good. But then…I tried the Apple Pie cocktail and it was THE BEST cocktail I have had yet. You have to try both of these! The food was really good. We got the jalapeño cornbread, burnt ends plate and ribs plate. YUM! We will definitely be back!

Went out with my family. Mind you they are from out of town. So we all tried westwoods. Its a nice place, I went when it was claim jumpers. Its has nice seating, and good service....but theres a issue. The service during the day/lunch is great for the Woodward crowd and offices around. BUT the night service sucks. Chyna and Carlos were the hardest working ppl there that night. Carlos is cleaning the restrooms, hes got that thing hella clean, mind you its past closing.....we dont have our check in time. So after my dad received a burger with a bunch of stuff, *which should be on the side* he likes plain but hes old and needs help. Chyna accommodated my dad by taking it off the check. My wife have better left her a good tip btw. Ive been in the food/beer industry for over 15 yrs. I have lots off experience, but im a story teller and thats another day. Long story short. Its a family place, accommodate more familys. I love yosemite ranch, its a cool hiding spot and this place just lost its way at night. Thanks.

Good service, friendly staff, but the food is overpriced and mediocre. I've had better BBQ ribs in many other places. also all good BBQ joints sell meat by weight. this is a fancy restaurant masquerading as a true BBQ joint.

Decided to go here to celebrate our son’s birthday & my parents’ anniversary. We had to wait a little bit when there are 7 of you, I can understand. About 30 minutes to get a table which isn’t bad. Our server was kind of dismissive but we made the best of it. We were a little disappointed in no singing or anything for our son’s birthday. Just a piece of cake & candle handed to us. My steak was way undercooked. Medium = rare apparently. My margarita was a strawberry lime margarita which was not what I ordered but I drank it. & when we got dessert the chocolate cake was a little dry & tasted like dark chocolate. & the cheesecake or strawberry pizza was not sweet at all.

Brisket Tamales......over the years these have been a favorite till yesterday's batch came home. Very little meat. Mostly masa and of the 3 I pulled out to eat, 1 the masa was mostly raw. At $60 a dozen I expected to be amazed liked years passed. But not this time. I say eat one at the bar first if you plan on taking some home! Try it!

This was my 1st time back to this restaurant in a long time. The smell of freshly smoked meat is heavy in the air. I wanted to have an end of the year dinner with a good friend of mine. I started the night with the burnt end nachos and a drink from the mug menu. The nachos looked so good. However, the cheese was not that hot when it came to the table. I really would have preferred the meat and cheese sizzling once it's delivered. There was so much food I had to take the nachos home. For my meal, I landed with the Westwood cob salad. I chose not to get the Tri tip but replaced it with burnt ends on the salad. It came out with huge chunks of meat that were very tender and easy to separate to spread on the salad. Overall, I feel like this was an excellent place to eat. They had a very interesting drink menu and I definitely need to come back for their happy hour.

Food and service was good as usual but everything was cold. Granted, I ordered a salad, however, everything else was cold, just barely room temperature if that. Chicken, tri tip, beans, French fries, cold. No steam anywhere. Very disappointing when you go to a bbq spot

Really enjoyed the strawberry pizza. The onion rings were good but under the crispy yummy exterior was some other type of coating that didn't seem well cooked. Almost cooked green beans and too much peel in the potatoes were not a plus. They used to have grilled artichoke, what happened to those.

It was Delicious 😋 We were sitted within 10 minutes. I order a vodka drink but I didn't like it the waiter was a little annoyed haha but I got my new drink which it was really good. Mango margarita 🍹 For appetizer we got salsa and nachos. Salsa was really fresh. For dinner 🍽 I got baby back ribs with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese 10/10. My husband got black and bleu tri tip 11/10 soooo good. Definitely going back for another date night.

Food was delicious and came out quick! Our server barely checked on us, offered refills, or offered dessert when we were looking forward to it and just dropped off our check.

Went there for Father's Day dinner with the family. Ordered Tri-tip Dip it was to tuff to bite into. Undercooked fat and gristle. Service was VERY Slow even considering covid. Went for the Beef Ribs which were not on the menu anymore. Very Disappointing.

My wife had the NY steak with mash (cold) and broccoli. It was delicious. I had the rib and crispy chicken combo. I ordered a Cesar salad and Mac and cheese. The salad has the wrong lettuce and the lettuce and borderline old. The Mac and cheese was okay. The chicken was delicious. The ribs SMH where disgusting. The ribs where wayyyy overcooked. It was pork jerky on a bone. I told our server and he apologized but didn't offer any solutions. I was disappointed 😞

The atmosphere was pretty cool, trying to be like the BBQ restaurants in Texas. The mushroom rice pilaf was very dry and scrapped from the end of the day pot. I did not get chives on my baked potato even though we paid for it, my peach Bellini alcohol drink was extremely on the sweeter bitter side. There was no pepper at our table, and we didn't receive the BBQ sauce we asked for. The food was okay overall. We also had to grab our own straws for our drinks and takeout box..

Last night, my family and I celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday at Westwood BBQ, our favorite BBQ place in Fresno. To start our meal, I ordered the tri-tip appetizer, which was delicious. Then, I decided to step outside the box and try something different instead of my usual Black and Blue tri-tip. I ordered the brisket burnt ends, and my wife ordered the same. Unfortunately, my brisket burnt ends didn't come out so great. I sent it back twice, but it still wasn't right, so I ended up canceling my order. However, my wife's brisket burnt ends were delicious, and she wasn't very hungry, so I just ate her plate. Despite this hiccup, I've eaten at Westwood BBQ many times, and I always have a great experience. The service is excellent, and the food is consistently good. I highly recommend Westwood BBQ to anyone looking for a delicious BBQ meal in Fresno. Follow me on IG @hungry_dude_usa

I had the Parmesan Steak Sandwich and it was delicious. Lots of flavor, perfect thin steak with added extras like olives, pickles, bacon, white cheese and the Parmesan Garlic buttered bread was perfect. The fries were seasoned and perfect. Will go back again l. The waiter was very attentive and helpful.
