I was seen in the ER. The nursing staff and ancillary staff were really sweet and thoughtful. Maybe the doctor was having a busy day but she didn’t even look at my knee before she discharged me and said there was nothing she could do. I had to beg for a walker to get up the stairs in my house. She said, “Just don’t go up the stairs.” ??? And use the bathroom and shower where? I totally understand they are limited on medications and resources but her attitude of “I could not care less” was very disheartening. I could have had a septic joint for all she knew as she didn’t even do an exam. Very, very negligent.

I was seen for anxiety for several visits. The provider never spoke and gave answers to my questions that didn't make sense, so I actually started to wonder if he spoke English until I read his beautifully written notes, which he put in writing but never relayed to me. He didn't prescribe anything until I asked, and he just gave me what I asked. The pharmacy gave false instructions, but I later found out that the notes that I never got contained accurate instructions. I wasn't referred to the Vet Center of any additional treatment, and when I walked in they were still completely reliant on my provider. I begged for a prognosis, diagnosis, treatment plan, or even just an index of suspicion, or anything. Much later I get a diagnosis in the letter for my VA claim: General Anxiety. Considering that's why I went into the hospital to begin with, it didn't help me at all. I was just a number. I was repeatedly scheduled for appointments and nothing ever happened, but since I was in the system and being seen they said I was "receiving treatment." The VA is not like an insurance that you can use anywhere else. I was told quite frankly that they will never approve outside care for any reason. The only thing that allows you to receive outside care is if they refuse to schedule you, but they can do absolutely nothing and get payed. The idea seems to be that the hospital is not payed the gov funding if you go to see someone else. It's one beurocracy after another with the military. I'm feeling completely abandoned. I gave too much, and I regret every minute of service.

Clean and helpful. I visited Hanford, CA Adventist ER for hip pain. They did an x-ray and didn't see anything and recommended an MRI. I went to theVA hospital ER the following Monday, got some more X-rays and they diagnosed my conditions and prescribed a new medication. They were able to diagnose my condition just with x-rays, but the Hanford ER couldn't. As the years go by, my opinion of the VA keeps dropping. I'm oh so tired of the VA canceling my appointments, then rescheduling me back at the back of the line for my next appointment, months away. In the last two years most of my appointments were cancelled by the VA and rescheduled. My last appointment was canceled early in the day it was supposed to happen. I got called to cancel, but I was still asleep and didn't hear the call. I drove 50 miles to the appointment, walked up to the receptionist and was told my appointment was canceled. I had to force myself to leave before the VA police came. My medications are all messed up now, I don't know if I'm coming or going. I've since made arrangements for community care for this issue.the VA has lost my trust

The Fresno VA has small issues, 20% of the staff hate veterans and are only there for a paycheck. 20% is alot but the other 80% care about the patients and do an amazing job.

Worst experience of my life. I come in for anxiety and depression and I’ve been sitting in an empty room for 2 hours with out being seen. Super awesome. No wonder why I never come here and I’m definitely not coming here again

I love this place. It's the only hospital I will go in town. They literally saved my life a couple of years ago. I found all the employees to be friendly and knowledgeable. They also helped me stop smoking, which I had been doing for over 50 years.

Brandy from community care has been their only redeeming quality so far. 4 months of appointments in their mental health program 3 changes of medication and they come full circle back to what they prescribed in the first place for anxiety. Asked for a referral out and the lady scoffed and then said "good luck with that but i guess it is your prerogative" then they call me to "schedule" only they immediately hit the button to be sent to my voicemail so they can tell me that they "cant" do it but do not give any reasons. They cancel the referral and make an appointment for the 31st of October with the same person and do not even tell me. They tried to make the referral in fresno and then said they had no other options in fresno when I specified i needed healthcare in the porterville area. I go into the fresno VA and talk to someone in community care and they tell me someone there canceled the referral and made the appointment and this was there reasoning. After the mental healthcare provider intentionally made the referral for fresno and even despite me being very specific with her she still did everything in her power to try and mess things up and this was pretty much what she alluded to and said that it was what she was going to do in so many words. All i can say is that the entire experience with mental healthcare has been terrible, they have cancelled appointments when i was in my car driving there (i live several hours away) i have had dental do the same thing and it took 4 months of them replacing a temporary crown over and over before i finally asked to be referred out. The failures if doctors does not stem from my inability to get there or try to make appointments it stems from the hospital and their lack of efficacy and proper communication. At this point its a "why bother going to the fresno VA" and will just be asking for all of my appointments to be referred out. Thankful i do not live closer.

Just had a great Veterans day down at this VA. Dr. Brian Boudi is the most disrespectful doctor I have ever had. I hope he just treats me this poorly and not all Veterans. He was also rude to my wife that just had question and he couldn't be bothered to answer. He has no business working for the VA. He needs to be fired.

I’ve been going to this facility for years. Great care, polite and actually care about your health. However my last visit was to dermatology. Parking was horrible and elevators were slow and crowded. Late for my appointment and was told I had to reschedule because I was 15 minutes past my appointment time. Pretty sad.

Been going to the Fresno VA, for some years. I never say there is no problem. Try Saint Agness or Keiser. Worse. The thing is soldiers who come here are well respected . late calls happen. People want something for nothing , but this a facility that handles a lot of Veterans and you have to call and find the right department or file a quick complaint on the first floor. Covid virus has put a lot stress on the staff. Be patient or go to community Healthcare downtown .

Do not believe any good reviews. They do not care about their patients. They will tell you that you are dying and act like it’s no big deal. You can be having a stroke and they will not come to help you. Please never let any family member or friend go here.

My dad was scheduled for a eye exam today. He drives almost an hour to the VA. Goes to check in and they told him he doesn’t have an eye appointment today, it had been canceled. Nobody called him and told him it had been. Also, a few weeks ago, he had been told his dr/drs had found a mass growing on or near his pancreas. The dr./drs knew about it 6/7 months ago, but didn’t tell my dad, until a few weeks ago. So they schedule him for scans to see if the mass had grown, changed shape, or stayed the same. He goes in for his 2 scans a week or so ago, the guy doing the scans tells him his dr./drs will contact him in 2-3 days with the results. He never hears a word from them. So, while he at the VA today, he goes to the Oncology Department to find out what the results were of his scans. The results haven’t came in yet, and they also told him that they don’t know why they did the scans on him they did. That the VA doesn’t do those kinds of scans for the mass. 😡. WTH? The government needs to take better care of our Precious Vets. The government doesn’t do enough for them.

You won’t let the daughter in of a man who had a stroke, whose speech doesn’t match his words because it’s a “pandemic” with a 99% survival. That’s not science that hysteria and lunacy. He’s my dad, I’ve known him all my life. It’s easier for me to understand what he’s trying to say. I know his thought patterns and his daily speech changes. But I still have to wait outside for someone to come get me if it’s approved because this VA is ridiculous.

Where they pay administrators to walk around the hallways and socialize, then act like the patients arent supposed to be there. Seems like they practice good ol' government work where everyone can shrug off responsibility until somebody finally decides to do their job.

Overall I like the VA Health System however, their Mental Health Department leaves a lot to be desired. From what I've seen and heard the man in charge of mental health there appears to be out of touch with what's going on with the veterans and a set in his own ways. I was told by somebody in the mental health department that I wasn't the only veteran to complain about this man.

Been trying to get a hold of women’s health for weeks. It’s impossible to get through to them. I’ve left messages, been on hold for hours, the line drops, I get transferred constantly to wrong section. All I want to do is schedule an appointment! God forbid there is something seriously wrong with me.

Just gotta be honest here, most of the staff at this specific VA hospital are rude, looks like they hate their job, does not know what they're doing, lazy, no common sense nor critical thinking skills, incompetent, etc. How could they give a medication solution to a patient without syringes or anything to draw the meds and inject it with? That's just one example of how they think. Simply put, don't know how they were hired when there are a lot of applicants out there who are deserving of the job that these people have. Too bad, the VA hires bad and disrespectful employees. Some of the front desk workers at this specific VA are just there to work and socialize when they have no idea what is going on with the hospital. These same employees are very loud too talking about personal things which is very unprofessional. The way they respond to an upset patient is ridiculous when it is their fault. When the patient asks them something, they do not even direct the patient to the right person who can help. It is about time that the VA hires employees based on their attitude and not just their "impressive" resumes that most of the words listed in that resume are bunch of lies 😅 This same VA tells their patients to get their fasting labs done before the primary care doctor's appointment only to be told by the labs personnel that there's no lab ordered for them when the veterans get to the labs. No communication between patient care team at all. This VA needs to do staff cleaning which getting rid of employees who does not perform HCAPS, lack customer service skills, and no Healthcare skills. It's time to hire the best of the best through their work and professionalism.

I feel bad for the old vets that have to go here. It’s shameful how incompetent the staff and the people that run this place are. Some care but most do not. I was told over the phone that the pharmacy opens at 7am, because they shipped with USPS the most worthless organization on earth, and they returned a life saving medication I need, I show up at the VA only to be told it opens at 8. This is just one example of how this place does not gaf about any veteran. Iam only 46, I can’t imagine being an 75-80 year old vet getting the run around like this, time is precious and this place will waste that time and not even blink or care. Fresno VA you should be ashamed of yourselves. All that tax payer money wasted on a bunch of careless individuals who know nothing about honor, coursge and most of all commitment.

This VA has a social worker named Anna who was so disrespectful. She was yelling at a veterans wife who is looking for support. She kept calling veterans wife argumentative. This is unacceptable. Her husband put his life on the line and this is how the family treated? What a joke this place is.

I went to the ER for kidney pain, from a useless toradol shot the va gave me. NO PAIN TREATMENT, NO FURTHER TREATMENT. My BP was 180/100 from being in pain. No wonder veterans blow their brains out. I will not live like this. Nope.

ER team didn't listen and inaccurately treated my injury. Said I needed a pregnancy test to get X-rays and only took a drug screen. Didn't even take full X-rays; took me going back in to a different location to find out I had a fractured rib that they could have identified, had they listened to where I stated pain. Hope I never have to go back to that location.

I had nothing but good experiences here at the VA in Fresno. OIF (4)OEF (2) ARMY 1st Calvary. The only bad thing I can say is I could never get in for dental, I am 100% P&T disabled, not enough dentists. The VA in general is underfunded & understaffed.

VA health in Fresno does a great job 👍 taking care of veterans. Major and recent renovations have really improved the hospital, and looks very modern for an older building, great job 👍. Very informed and helpful staff. Been going to this facility for many years, only downside is the high turnover of doctors due to majority being interns and of course the neverending challenge of parking :)) But always good to see the "regular staff" doctors there taking care of us veterans, many thanks 🙏👍 for all you do for all of us!!

I couldn’t be happier with Dr Cook and his work on my oral surgery and my implants he did for me. His going though the procedure with me step by step. He was kind and empathetic throughout the whole procedure he was skilled and confident and even after it was over he reached out to me at home to make sure I was doing ok. His dr and patient relationship is outstanding! I’m an seventy-five year old Marine veteran. Thank you Dr Cook.

I can not complain about the care I get here my Doctor and the team are all my heroes. Doctor Pugoy is the best in this health care facility, like him and the others there they show that they care about you and your health.

VA Fresno is slipping badly; I was effectively blown off for my chronic back pain. It's so bad now, I will soon be unable to walk. My PCs orders were denied/changed by the "pain clinic." Recommendation from the latter? ACUPUNCTURE!!! Are you kidding me??? This is unacceptable care; for ANY patient. Find a doctor away from the VA.

I am a patient at the VA medical center I have special mode transportation because I can't drive and I have no one to drive me I went to the hand clinic to get surgery for trigger finger and they won't do my surgery because I have special mode transportation through the VA and even though they are the VA they don't accept that mode of transportation so they won't do my surgery so they're referring me to an outside doctor so I can get my surgery done how stupid is that and he couldn't give me a reason why they didn't accept that mode of transportation that's the VA for you they don't have any respect for the veterans that they serve

Way better than any hospital in fresno but the call center is junk! It says 2 min wait and you wait for an hour to make an appointment. I finally wrote my doctor on secure messaging center for an appointment. I miss the old local system. It really was a 2 min wait.

My husband has had multiple surgeries here, and the care he received was Excellent, Top Notch care by the nursing staff, surgeon, & the anesthesiologists. He followed the surgeons orders, and had no problems whatsoever during or after his recovery. He’s also had to be seen in the Emergency Room several times and there’s never been a wait time ever. He’s lab’s, X-rays, and other procedures were thoroughly addressed in a very timely manner and the staff was always friendly, & helpful! LlmmoiiIt makes me wish I were a veteran and receiving excellent care. I worked at my local hospital for years, and the emergency room was & still is always extremely busy!

The VA took real great care of my dad, they were always patient and kind to us. Always told him “Thank you for your service” he loved that. They arranged for Hospice care and everything he needed. He passed away June 7th 2020 from lung cancer 😭😭

Was happy with the VA until now. I called in to have insulin refilled by mail as usual, was sent wrong item and recalled to explain I was out of insulin and was informed by pharmacy that it would take 1 1/2 weeks to get more to me, I explained that I would probably be dead by then but was told it didn't matter and my only option was to wait. Needless to say this has definitely lowered my rating. In the past my life was saved by the VA with an operation to remove cancer, I guess they feel it's now fair that they take what they once saved.

VA Health Care at Fresno VAMC has been great. I have been for various issues and have had a positive experience each time. VA and Community Care really ensure minimal wait required to be seen. BZ!
