Rainy weather is museum weather. But the Basket Museum should not be judged on this. If you want to see everything properly, you should come more often. It's always worth it.

You can't see the size and variety from the outside! We have been in Michelau for over 15 years and this year it was perfect. We can only recommend it, as there are so many exhibits you have never seen before and in some places they are very delicately worked. Here is an excerpt of pictures

Nice to have seen something like that. With a beautiful live demonstration

Very interesting. Praise the craft and tradition. Quite confusing. Not suitable for people with walking difficulties. Could be a museum fresher after 33 years.

A trip around the world, working with great braids. Worth seeing

If you are interested in this art or are interested in braiding yourself, it is a MUST. For me it's a really great museum. Too many impressions and suggestions for a one-time visit - so I have to go there again.

Very interesting exhibition with many everyday objects made of basket. An international overview of what has been woven from a wide variety of basic materials. You also got an impression of how economically influential basket making was for the region. It's worth a visit.

Spontaneous visit that was worth it. Great exhibition about the history of weaving, in which Michelau played a central role. Absolutely worth seeing!

We loved this place! It is a family run, perfectly organised and dated (very important for a museum), charming old house. The show peaces are not covered in glass, so they are relying on you common sense not to touch them since some of them are very old, and all of them are unique. The space has over 25 thematic units, where some are entire rooms full of the history of everyday life. If you are into historical costume and props, I can also highly recommend it. The museum shop carries only handcraft items, crafted in the region, so we ended up picking extra cash from the nearby atm (family run, no electronics). I went home with an XL rectangular base basket!
