Food- ribs: it’s good but it’s not super special. Sashimi- was futsu Chicken- was so bad. Water took forever too, and it wasn’t crowded.

Really enjoyed my experience here. Great atmosphere and great food and great service…what more could you ask for? The kaarage was good, the oden was yummy, the curry was delicious and the fish was flavorful. It was crowded but it didn’t feel like the service was hindered because of it. Cool place to try out and eat some Japanese izakaya goodness.

Amazing izakaya 🏮 The food is really tasty and the atmosphere here is pretty cool. I tried the recommended foods, everything was pretty good 🍜. They come flambé the cream and the fish, it’s pretty funny to see. 🍮 If you can, try to get a seat next to the center, where you can see the chefs cooking 👨🏻‍🍳 You may have to book, I went there for dinner, it was crowded but you don’t feel it.

Excellent food and great atmosphere! It's just off the main street, but this hidden gem offers amazing food. This Izakaya offered great twists on classic japanese dishes, bursting with flavor and spice. Highly recommend!

Wow! Probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Classic izakaya with a great atmosphere and really good food which is served and prepared by very friendly staff. Highly recommended :)

A great izakaya that adds a modern twist to classics. All seating in a wooden platform, with the cooks in full display, it’s a lively place to enjoy a drink with great bites on the side.

Stewed beef & oden were good. You can watch the chefs in the open kitchen. Service was ok. Crowded after 7pm.

Incredibly delicious food and lively atmosphere. With the wide range of options on the menu, you'd expect some to just taste okay, but everything tasted amazing! Very reasonably priced, will be back again.

We have been coming to Shirubee for years. The menu is ever changing, with very unique items, many of which are not found elsewhere. We really enjoy trying their new dishes that are always delicious. One item, though, that has never changed is their blowtorched mackerel, due to its popularity. It is not only delicious, but its a visual experience, as the waiter brings it to your table and blowtorches it right in front of you. This night, we also enjoyed cooked anago eel over potato salad, beef stew with a barely cooked fried egg to mix in and eat with garlic toast, sashimi, chili shrimp, and raw egg rice. The seating is interesting: you sit on the floor with your legs under the table. There is also a big square center counter with the cooks in the center. The price is a bit above moderate, but worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful, with telling you about the dishes and making recommendations. Give it a try if you're ever in Shimokitazawa.

Wow, we tried so many dishes and they were all delicious. I especially love the bread dishes like the stew beef and cheese tofu. The restaurant gets pretty crowded but we got a seat within 15 minutes. Love the vibe of the izakaya. Great place to chill with friends.

Good fun and a great atmosphere. Nobody really understands English here, we had to communicate with Google Translate. Food is good, and the place is definately trendy among young people. You will not find the name "Shirube" anywhere on the street. We navigated with Google Maps, and ended up confirming this is the place by comparing the phone number written here with the one written on the outside sign!

If you're looking for great foods and a nice Japanese 'pub' atmosphere, look no more than this place. The daily sashimi is fresh and changing, but other menu's dishes are joyful to your mouth. You can try the flaming mackerel, which is fun to watch and delicious too. Its also close to the station.

This place is excellent. It really checks all the boxes. Atmosphere: very Tokyo. Concrete interior meets traditional in-floor seating. Take off shoes at the door. Staff: friendly Clientele: mostly younger Japanese and ex-pats in their 20s. Drinks: interesting and tasty Food: AMAZING. Exceeded expectations Had the sashimi from tsukiji, nikujaga, mackerel broiled at the table and some incredible chicken. This place is VIBES. This place is TOPS.

This izakaya is really good. Food is tasty, quantity pretty good and really affordable. Staff is also really nice which is really a plus in such a busy place. I loved it and will go again.

The restaurant sets up the cooking area right in the meddle and seats around the cooking area. You can easier chat with cooks even we speak different languages. You can see they were enjoying in cooking and happy to service you. The way the make some dishes was amazing like a show.
