The pineapple swirl is a bit expensive but far better than what Disney serves. Yes, it is good. I was surprised by the simple dressing they use for the green salad, it was tasty same as the macaroni salad, creamy and fresh.. The teriyaki sauce was nice, really nice. The overall BBQ were yummy, and as a family we really enjoyed the rib the most, then beef. Pitifully chicken were on the dry side but the sauce were made to enhance the chicken meat for sure. I can't stress enough how clean the BBQ combo is arranged on top of the sticky bed of rice, it was a pretty sight! Last but not least the pork and cabbage was one simple dish but one that is cook right! A must try! Will return for more.

Super good food and great service too. Ive been wanting to try this place out for a while and we finally made it. Large servings that are fresh and tasty. Ive never had tobasco Sriracha and I really liked it. Only spicy at first bite. Definitely will be back.

Good food can be extraordinarily good, eliciting good memories. In the case of Matiki Island BBQ, it fell WAY short of the meals I experienced while living in Hawaii. While the Chicken teriyaki (left) had a good taste, the chicken was dry. The Macaroni salad was my most anticipated item of this meal; as I loved it in the ubiquitous Hawaiian Plate Lunch meal from The Rainbow Drive-in in Waikiki. This fell short too. It felt like calories wasted instead of well spent. My husband ordered the Kalua Pig; he loves anything pig and was almost salivating while ordering. Unfortunately, a pig dish, renowned for its tenderness, was also dry. He liked the cabbage.😬 The most important aspect of this meal were not the dry meats, it was the dry, inattentive staff, who instead of greeting us, hid behind dark glasses and a black hoodie; acting as if I was ruining a personal moment for her. Also offensive in this day and age of COVID, we’re the cooks without masks coughing while cooking. Yeah, we should have cancelled the order; but we had been wanting to go there for three years. There was no Aloha and the food was… meh. There was a LOT of food in each dish. However, I’d rather have a fair amount of food, that tastes perfect, with smiles and warm greetings, than mounds of Meh food. We will not be back.

Best effin ribs (dino ribs) I've ever had! Don't know how they sell it for the price and huge portion you get because dino ribs are effin expensive . One of these days I will learn how the heck they grill these ribs. The food is fan effin tabululus!!!

This place was delicious! I ordered the #1, which was the beef rib plate, and my wife ordered the #2, which was kalbi short ribs. The beef ribs were tender and would melt in your mouth. She liked her kalbi ribs, but they were a bit chewy. The plates came with 2 scoops of white rice and one scoop of their potato macaroni salad, but we substituted one scoop of rice for two scoops of Mac and one scoop of rice. For both meals, I paid about $33, and it was worth it. Most hawaiian places are about this price, but my beef rib plate almost couldn't close in the take out box because there was so much food. It is worth a visit if you are in the area and I'm sure it won't disappoint. There are a couple of locations, which include Fullerton, Anaheim, and Huntington Beach; I visited the fullerton store. They have their teriyaki sauce on each table along with some Sriracha, but also some bottles set to the side with sauce containers for people ordering takeout. If ordering takeout over the phone, try and call well before an hour before they close. I called at 7:58, they closed at 9, and they answered, but immediately put me on hold. I remained on hold for 6 minutes before hanging up and calling back multiple times, but they disconnected their phones; I would just get a busy tone every time. I was already driving to the restaurant, so I ended up ordering in person,

SAM's plate was recommended 4 ribs each plate, white rice, salad. Macaroni also available. Glass windows cover grilling area , so you are able to watch chef's at work preparing orders. Take out/ delivery available. See postmates site. Very urbanHawaiin feel for dining area. Hand carved Tikis in design. Comfortable seating. Family friendly. Restroom handical friendly. This was a really good spot to eat. The portion I got was absolutely massive, and the guys up front were super nice and friendly. I guess the only criticism I have of this spot is that Hawaiian Mac salad should most definitely not have potatoes in it...

No greeting upon entering as the only customer in the establishment. I greeted the cashier and she ignored me. Not the best start. The marinated meats in my entree were delicious and very favorable, however the white rice was old and soggy and the pasta salad was warm and extremely over peppered. Half my entree went uneaten. I will not return and would not recommend to anyone. I would rather spend my money elsewhere. Good luck to them though.

One of my favorite Hawaiian BBQ spots - when I’m craving substance and comfort this is my go to. I get the Kalbi (short ribs) with Mac and rice. Staff is always super friendly and they started serving dessert since I last came by. Their pineapple dole whip is 100% delicious. Can’t wait for next time.

First visit and it appears it's quite popular with the nearby college students. Casual dining...Hawiian style. Combo plates are generous and very tasty. We're definitely going back to try other dishes. I must return for a Dole whip for sure.

Got the #6 with one spare beef rib. The amount of food was a lot. However I found the the kalbi to be very tough and chewy, the beef rib was quite tough also, chicken was dry, mac salad was overly peppered and really only tasted like pepper. Overall not the worst I've had but not the best. For the price you get a lot of food but it's overall average in taste and quality.

The service was excellent. They were friendly and respectful and just overall great. I got teriyaki chicken, and a lot of the chicken was way overcooked, but the flavor was on point. The macaroni salad was just OK, if anything it was kinda bland. The flavors were there and I'm just hoping it was an off day, so I will go back to try again in a week or so

Only thing going for this place is the service and how quite of a place to eat. Sadly food taste is poor meat has a nasty flavor with too much fat left on lt, chicken is dry and no flavor to it, mac pasta is the worst I've had and the rice is the only good thing on the plate. Paid $22 for a good sprite and 2 scoops of rice and while I did eat all because i was hungry but have to say the worst meat and chicken I've ever had.

I want to like this place but they’ve been very disappointing lately. I ordered through Uber Eats from the Fullerton location and it was extremely disappointing. I ordered Chicken & Kalbi plate and the portions were small, chicken looked like it was leftover scraps- hard and burnt. Kalbi was ok though. I’ve ordered from the HB location twice before and that wasn’t great. I don’t know if they still have the location in Garden Grove but that was the first time I had Matiki’s and that was best Hawaiian bbq I had. Unless it’s from the Garden Grove location, I’ll never order from them again.

The food is good here. I had heard about this place and passed it several times and always wanted to hit this joint. The beef rib meat is fall off the bone status. There was so much food packed on the plate that I ate it cold the next day and it was still fall off the bone. Definitely wanna go back

The food here is so insanely good, I got the kalbi ribs and chicken with Mac salad and was absolutely blown away, 10000000% a must, I've been going to cal state Fullerton for over a year and have just now tried this place and feel like I've been doing a disservice to myself the whole time. The food came out in an appropriate time to the amount of large orders that were going in before me so no complaints there. The chicken and ribs literally melt in your mouth, I've been thinking about them for a week straight it feels like. 100% go if you're near, it won't let you down, and the portion size is top tier.

Delicious food across the board. Top favs, the beef ribs, kalua pork and short rib platter. Great portions and good service.

Beef Ribs are delicious!! the combo plates are about $15 depending the meat you get ...but they do have mini plates would definetly come back 10/10✨

I had the beef ribs and they were great! Also the service was very welcoming, informative, and friendly. The music playing inside reminds me of being in Hawaii. Will definitely be back!

I recommend the kalabi ribs. I've gotten take out several times. It is great when on point but they are inconsistent. The last time, the rice was mushy, the Mac salad too salty and warm. Chicken and ribs were good.
