I really doubted I’d be leaving this place a 5* review before I visited. 3 days later we went every evening of our holiday as our air BnB was next door. Ridiculously reasonable, amazing cocktails / especially the caipirinha was the best I’ve had. Peanuts with every round, it’s a must-visit if you’re staying nearby!

Went here when looking for a proper "pub" to watch football (rather than a restaurant with a TV in the corner as is often the case in the area). This fitted the bill perfectly. The owners are really friendly, as are the staff. The prices are excellent, brilliant value drinks, no doubt about that (so much so that I thought we'd been given the wrong bill initially)!! They're very accommodating and will put the match of your choice on one of the TVs (although I think they only have a couple of TVs in the pub, so it may be a challenge if there's a few big matches on at the same time). Seemed to be a good mix of locals and tourists. if you're looking for a welcoming pub/bar to have a few drinks whilst watching football/sport then look no further. Well done folks.

I arrived late at the hotel across the street that day and was still in the mood for a beer or two. The Local Bar looked very inviting and I'm glad I "got lost" in it. Very cool, relaxed and courteous staff and good prices! They made my day. Thanks for everything!

This is a quiet and quaint little gem in the Lido area of Funchal. The owner and his staff are truly delightful and welcoming to all their guests no matter where you hail from. Prices are a bit better than most (or all) other bars in the area. It's cozy and a great place for a night cap. HIGHLY recommend.

Great little Pub . Friendly Employees and its almost english in traditional setting lol. But The Island is beautiful. Friendly people.

I like this bar, it is definitley a bar....no food apart from Scoobie snacks. Good music. Madge is Raining Men and supping Coral in a bottle. Tima on rosé wine listening to 1980's hits. Oddly quiet on our visit but only 7.30pm. Eclectic collection of footie and music memorabillia. It is a downward spiral to the facilities. Very good value at 4€ ..more old town price than hotel zone.

We ran into this bar on the way back to our stay. The service was great, the drinks are more than reasonably priced and the atmosphere of a pub like this feels like a home far away! Would visit again!

Two germans, a british, a polish and a finish enter a bar run by a South African. So could start a bad joke but it is what happens in the local pub on a rainy night in December 2022. The Local Pub is a nice place to meet cool people and try Madeira rum the proper way. Would recommend 10/10.

This pub is a joy to drink a beer. Specialy when you are a football fan. The pub is decorated with all kind of accessoires of footballclubs from all over the world. The staff are really nice people and always in for a talk! 5 stars are more then deserved.

Like all the other reviews that gave 5star we popped in for watching a Liverpool match had 4kids with us. Bar staff really friendly. Reasonably priced and good atmosphere.

Nice atmosphere bar with friendly staff, good relatively cheap drinks close to different restaurants. Bartender made a special kiwi mojito drink that made us go back for more!

Cosy friendly local pub great staff, we enjoyed chatting with them and the choice of drinks were great and very cheap.

It’s a great bar with lovely owners. We passed by this bar the first night we arrived in Funchal and we went there for 4 out of the 5 nights we were in Madeira. Everything we tried (cocktails, sangria, poncha) was amazing! We wish you all the luck with this bar and hopefully we will be able to come back another time! :) big hugs from the dutchies

Where do I start. I have never experienced such thorough and generous hospitality in a bar abroad until here. Angelo and Bernadette were most welcoming from the moment we walked into the bar, showing enthusiastic and friendly service from the moment we stepped foot inside this modern and intimate bar. Eli was amazing. He chatted to us every night, suggesting us drinks and nearby restaurants and even went out of his way to bring us for a beer in one of the local bars on his day off. We had an amazing and entirely memorable time every time we stepped foot inside this warm and welcoming bar. I cannot recommend this place enough. Wide range of drinks, cocktails and poncha and the most friendliest staff we have encountered on our travels. Great staff and amazing locals. This is simply a must while in the area. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we will never forget our visits to this wonderful bar.

Poncha traditional was not available 🥴. The waitress didn't have the ingredients to make the drink. I wanted to wait.

Hey there, We visited Madeira 27 times since 1979, last time was in december 2019. Stayed mostly in the (Four Views) Monumental Lido. We visted the Local Pub after dinner mostly every night. Great atmosphere, nice food and drinks and friendly serving. The bar was owned then by 3 guys. Great people. Are they retired now?
