There are three reasons you should visit it: First of all, it is probably on your touristic route around the Old Town- its is located just next to the famous Mercado dos Lavradores (Farmer's Market). It is a perfect indoor attraction for when the weather isn't good, but most of all- it is a place where you can buy really beautiful art and souvenirs. You can buy there many small and affordable gifts - little magnets, pictures, designer postcards and beautiful jewelry. The prices of these small, handmade or design souvenirs aren't much higher than the kitschy Made in China souvenirs sold in tourist souvenir stores. There is also a nice and affordable cafe. I highly recommend!

This artisan market was probably once cool but is currently barely open. The people at the ceramics store (one of two shops opened still) said all but the main art gallery stall closed in the past few months, so all the space is just the art gallery/shop run by the tall German. He also has access to the vintage toy museum on floor 2, which costs a few euros to visit, so if you want to go you must let him know so he can open it for you. It is really nothing anymore - the reviews here need to e updated.

Lovely complex with shops, a gallery, and a few restaurants. A nice place to shop and relax for a meal.

This little arcade has some unique little shops with unusual souvenirs, Madeiran and continental. I've always felt welcome even when just looking around.
