It's a great place to admire the view of of the city and bay. We went there to enjoy the sunset - it was amazing. We decided to walk - as it was around 4-5 km walking distance from our hotel - if you also decide to walk there be prepared for some climbing ;) As I noticed many people came by car or bus. At the top, there's a small cafe - you can order some drinks & snacks there and enjoy the view.

If you're looking for a great viewpoint over Funchal, Miradouro Pico dos Barcelos should be your first stop. It's free, easily accessible by car (free parking), there's disabled access, toilets and a cafe. What I liked the most were the views that made me realise just how widely Funchal spans over the mountains and how densely populated it is. You look up the very top house on each cliff and can't help but wonder how did they build there. I also loved the old pine trees that offer lovely shade and the beautiful tropical flowers. It's a great place to stop and take a minute or two to appreciate the beauty of the island before you move on to explore some more.

Amazing place, we can see Funchal, we can see the mountains, we can see the ocean, just amazing place to visit. Also there is a Bar and a Band inside Pico dos Barcelos, both worth a sit or a visit. Parking spots are not enough tho, you have to park outside sometimes.

Stunning views if the beautiful city of Funchal,Madeira. A beautiful Island, we had just one day as we stopped there in a cruise but will definitely be going back again some time. This destination affords you some stunning vistas. The 80 percent mountain terrain is one of such contrasts depending on your altitude.

In the city of Funchal among the hills is this viewing deck facing the south. The view from the view point is marvellous particularly in morning and evening. When postcard photographs can be clicked. Not too crowded. Although the is no cafe around to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.

Tourist spot in Funchal without a doubt to visit stunning view, place with toilet, parking café and souvenir shop. Extra tip, not far from have a parish of Santo Antonio where Cristiano Ronaldo initially lived before starting his career at Sporting

The Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint is approximately 355 meters above sea level. From this point there is a splendid panoramic view over Funchal bay and the city area, with the Desertas Islands in the background. This viewingpoint was recently restructured and nowdays it includes additional green and commercial areas where local crafts and restaurants can be found and also new leisurement facilities. This area underwent substantial improvements in terms of pedestrian and automobile access. Pico dos Barcelos is an observation point at 1165 ft above sea level with stunning, sweeping views of the Bay of Funchal. This is the nearest viewpoint to Funchal and the easiest to get to, as it is on the Red bus or Yellow Bus route. At a height of 335m, there are 360°views over Funchal and the surrounding area. This is also where the locals meet on New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks. There is a café, a restaurant and some stalls where you can buy souvenirs and crafts.

Best views in Funchal. Easy to reach by local service bus (no 9, 13, or 48). Cafe on site with good affordable pricing to have coffee or wine while admiring spectacular views. Recommend any time.

Nice peek to see the surroundings! From this place you can see the old neighborhood where Cristiano Ronaldo was born and the new sport academy he developed here.

Nice views over Funchal and the surrounding mountains, but is quite far from the city center.

Wonderful view across the Funchal Amphitheatre. You can even see Ronaldo's boyhood house from here, which I think why most people stop here now. Forgetting about the over-rated, over-paid footballer (let's face it, they all are) it's a nice view, but it's a bit like stopping at the M6 services just to get a look at Shap. (Those who live in Cumbria will know what I mean).

Another beautiful view among countless amazing views on the island. Restrooms were closed and parking was limited. Small gift shop a very short walk down the street with pay restrooms.
