Super cute museum. My electronic engineer partner was enthralled by machines and engines. I however enjoyed the cute mini depictions of the island and the little rabbit game... Extremely cheap at only a few euros per person.

Doesn't sound like something you would do on holiday, visit a museum about electricity but it's 3 Euros and it's actually quite interesting! Set in a great building near the cable car, it shows Madeiras history regarding electric power. The fact that a lot of equipment inside came from Northern England in the UK was a bonus (being from that area myself!)

Great museum but very niche. If you like old British generators and machinary it's worth a visit. Well laid out and informative with an interactive section upstairs for children

Cheap entry fee, some of the exhibits had English translation, but the upstairs exhibits in particular did not have any English. Interesting content though about how the islands got electricity.

Nice details about the way electricity got introduced to the madeira island, very informative.

Museum about the history of electricity, strong focus on the island Madeira, but not only focus. Lots of things to see, unfortunately not really detailed information for non-native speakers. On the second floor all kind of interactive for children. Entrance just a few euros for adults. Wheelchair friendly museum.

Nice bit of history with exhibits showing how British Engineering once supplied the world. Upstairs are working educational models ideal for school visits. All in all worth the modest entry fee.

We visited it in January 2022. Although it was not on the 'must visit list' for Funchal, we wanted to go there, and not regrets. It's fun for kids and for engineers. They tell the history of electricity in Madeira, which I found didactic as well as well organized. Some people might find it boring, we did not.

A great place to discover, especially when you`d like to find something not typical for entartainment. 2,70 euros (only cash) is a very reasonable price for about 1,5 tour at two floors. You can find out a lot of interesting facts about electricity in general and in Madeira in particular. On the first floor there are lots of interactive objects that explain different features about electricity in a fun simple way. Pay attention that there`s quite a long break during the day (12:30-14:00). There`s very little information in english (no other foreign languages available), portuguese only, but if you understand how electricity works it will still be totally clear :)

Entrance fee here was really cheap, a couple of euros each (cash only) The museum has a couple floors. The ground floor mainly contains large power generators and electrical distribution switch work, while the first floor is more about the principles of production and the impact of electricity. There was also an interesting art exhibition when we went (Oct 2022) I really enjoyed it, but I'm an engineer, however my partner (not an engineer) also enjoyed it. Nearby is the Madeira Story Musium, that can be visited along side to make the visit woth a day. The Madeira Story centre has a pleasant rooftop café come restaurant with reasonable prices.

Excellent museum, very quiet and exceptionally clean. Very interesting to learn about how electricity was transported across the island. €2.70 entrance fee - cash only. Not all information explanations are translated. Lots of activity examples of how electricity works which were brilliant.

The history of Madeira and its electrical grid was interesting, specially seeing how fast the network expanded. However, the selling point for me was the interactive part in the second floor, which illustrated the way to generate electricity using various methods
