We received a great welcome by Joel and Bruno at our arrival at Vila Marta which is easy to access from the airport. My girlfriend and I felt like we were expected if you add to that a glass of their favorite Madeira wine during the check-in. On top of that, our room was well equipped and cleaned each day, the place is quiet. Moreover, Joel and Bruno gave us very great advices regarding the restaurants they love/or other people told them they are worth the try, how to go to the main points of interest near Funchal and especially where to park. All of that for a very fair price! If you stay a few days in Funchal, this is definitively a great place to stay!!

An exceptionally warm welcome and a room with a view over Funchal and the sea. The apartment is equipped with a small fully equipped kitchen, sleeping area and an area with dining table and sofa. I would describe the accessibility as barrier-free due to an elevator and a small ramp at the main entrance. The room was cleaned every day and the beds were made, just like in a hotel. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely hospitable nature of the owner, who always has an open ear for problems, help and a nice conversation. Mr. Alves has always organized our day trips or bookings for tours for us without hesitation. The Vila Marta is located in a small street in the district of Sao Marthino, from which two bus stops are within easy reach. A larger supermarket is about a 10-minute walk away, after overcoming two, slopes. The hotel is family-run and is managed by the two gentlemen Joel and Bruno Alves. More than 5 stars from me if I could give them :-)

Everything exceeded our expectations! Very nice hosts and great housekeeping. If there is anything they are always ready to help you. It is a little outside the centre however it is really easy to use all the busses to anywhere you want (google maps works great for the busses!) The room is spacious and gets cleaned very good. Lovely balcony to eat the bread in the morning with a ocean view. We still have to taste the gifts we received ;)

Simply fantastic. Vila Marta made my stay in Madeira all the better. Fresh bread every morning, the room cleaned spotlessly. Close to shops, restaurants, the bus route into town (avoid the crowds). If there's anything you need, Joel or Bruno are eager to help. Watching the sunset from the balcony was idyllic. I felt like I was at a home from home. Obrigado!

An absolute value for money! The rooms with a gorgeous oceanview, the location within a walking distance from amenities (Continente grocery store, laundromat, cafes/restaurants bus stops with easy connections), and within a short car/bus ride from the city centre. In addition, the hosts provided me with tons of useful information on navigating the island by public transport and were always available to help.

Great accommodation! Friendly owner, many useful tips, clean, great view. Pedestrian way to the city is far (to do it every day). Tip: Go straight to the sea and then use the promenade. You can find a very good seafood restaurant on your way (Dona Nina). For hiking you don't need a car - go with public transport. It's excellent!

If you want a perfect accommodation in Madeira, you can't ask for more. This place was perfect from every point of view. It was very clean, the room was spacious, very good location and the owners helped us a lot with everything! Thank you again, Joel and Bruno!

The owners take care of their guests in amaizng way, I dont think Ive stayed in a place before where staff/owners were so helpfull and looking after you. The room was rather an apartment with all facilities you need even kitchen, large and vintage styled. Balcony gave you see side view and location was great ( car is helpful though cause of hill) . Fresh bread every morning, gorgeous wine on arrival, as well when me and my partner needed help at the end of our stay Bruno helped us so much Im forever grateful :)

I am impressed with Vila Marta. Joel and Bruno are extremely hospitable, friendly and helpful, it feels authentic and makes your stay in Madeira infinitely better. I arrived very late at night and there was a flight delay and Joel was waiting for me at 2am to welcome and show me the room and give insights about how to get around the area. The room is extremely clean, the Wi-Fi connection is great, every morning fresh bread was left at my door and on the last day I was gifted a traditional Madeira cake. It was a very comfortable and special stay at a great value for the price, and I will definitely recommend Vila Marta for my friends when they come to Madeira.

A warm reception awaited us. The proprietors, Joel and his son, Bruno, were extremely helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and facilities were comfortable and clean. We had a lovely sea view. Towels and bed linen were provided and regularly changed. Easy access into Funchal by bus. Local shops only a few minutes walk. Brilliant.

Fantastic staying here at Vila Marta. The rooms are very clean, like i never seen in a hotel or B&B, but the best thing of all are the hosts: he owner, Joel, and his son Bruno will give you all the directions to have the best vacation and see what's best for the day (the weather in Madeira is very unpredictable). We didn't plan anything for our trip, but with their directions we didn't have any need of doing so which made our vacation even more relaxing. We truly felt at home here and if I'll ever go back to that beautiful island, I will stay at Vila Marta again for sure.

What an enjoyable hotel! Extraordinary management and staff, great location, bus and market very close by, clean and safe, room terraces offer excellent unobstructed views, fresh baked bread delivered each morning. Not a single complaint.
