Very nice staff and owner family. Good rooms, best service. Near to old town, but quiet.

We enjoyed 4 exquisite days at this lovely hotel enjoying sunsets and starry nights overlooking the town and the ocean (3rd floor). Each staff member was exceptionally helpful, including parking our car in a tight spot! The rooms are not large but they are clean and comfortable with good storage. The balcony view was so marvelous that a bottle of wine, cheese, bread and meats from a convenience store in Old Town made a memorable dinner. The staff provided good recommendations for restaurants. The garden path leads to old town which is marred a bit by many hawkers seeking your patronage for a meal. Skip those streets to start and walk along the ocean first to get your bearings. Old town is nicer in the morning hours before businesses open to enjoy all the different painted doors. Walk a few blocks to the left from the garden path to see the church (not the small chapel). A serene cafe in front of the church overlooks the ocean. The west end of Funchal is more lovely than old town. The photography museum provided glimpses into old Funchal.

Where to begin... The hotel standard is fabulous. The lovely pretty pool area is spot on...the rooms are lovely and have amazing pool and sea views. The breakfast is a good standard, the relaxing areas outside are really nice situated on an outdoor covered terrace near pool, as well as a small bar area. The hotel is literally 1 minute walk to the old town bars.. perfect Now the people, I couldn't have asked for more lovely people to look after me on my holiday. They are amazing, so friendly and caring.. big shout to Monica, i can still hear her saying hello my dear every time she saw us. Top tip... if there at new year it's a real treat regarding location. Dont even bother to watch the fireworks anywhere else. I will definitely go back xx

I prefer small hotels as I find the service more personal. Albergaria Dias was no exception. The staff are all genuinely pleased to see you and offer you what you need. The hotel is comfortable, with a lovely pool and well maintained gardens and flowers. It is a sanctuary from the bustle of the old town a mere 100m away. All rooms face the sea, the higher rooms you can see the giant cruise ships that visit daily. We stayed a week with Tui, which was sadly cheaper than booking direct which I would have preferred. The weather was wonderful in March. We loved it.

Super friendly and helpful. Shown round hotel facilities on arrival and informed on bar and breakfast options. Very helpful in recommending activities and restaurants. Rooms cleaned and replenished daily. Clean swimming pool and sheltered position. Hotelvtucked away but very close to busy restaurants and bars - all within walking distance.

Good accommodation, only thing missing is an evening meal but there are lots of restaurants close by.

The hotel was immaculate. Breakfast had a great choice. Location was superb but the main bonus for me was the staff. I have never seen such happy, hard working, caring staff. They were so friendly and helpful.

Small hotel within a minutes walk of old town and all its restaurants and bars.The hotel is always spotlessly clean and the staff are all welcoming and helpful. We stayed in 205 which has a restricted view of the harbour
