So much fun chatting with "Van" (not his real name). Chatty guy with a rich life being father, husband, artist, and healthy food purveyor. He prepared a delicious hummus sandwich, topped with avocado and fresh veggies. The juice was a lovely blend of citrus and ginger. Speaks English fluently although I speak Portuguese and we chose to chat in his native tongue. I sat on a bench in front of his van as customers came up and joined in the revelry. I'm humbled by people like him who in the midst of pandemic somehow manage to pay the bills and take care of a family, all the while doing so with merriment. The van is located in the heart of city center where the locals and tourists commune in the day-to-day of life in Madeira. If you don't have time of a restaurant, or prefer avoiding one (and the prices), less than 10 Euro will buy you a good, healthy meal, and a cup of Joe to top it off.

If you stroll downtown Funchal, DON'T (you hear me, really don't!!!) miss out on Ruben's Vantastic food truck. Not only will you get tasty, hand made, fresh foods (vegan options available!!!) and drinks, Ruben himself is an attraction with his entertaining personality! Important message of the day: vegans - eat more salat! The walnut sandwich bread is revelation I'll surely be back...

Ruben is one of the most amazing guys I've ever met and the sandwiches are made with love, what you really can taste❤️😍.. We got the salmon sandwich and hummus sandwich and both were so good, that after we finished this beautiful piece of art we Couldn't resist to Get another one! 🙏 We will come daily now for the rest of our vacation. For the food! The vegan options here are outstanding, and we couldn't resist trying the hummus sandwich, juice of the day, and vegan salad. The hummus sandwich was a flavor explosion, with the creaminess of the hummus perfectly complemented by fresh veggies and hearty walnut bread. The juice of the day was so refreshing, and the vegan salad was a vibrant mix of flavors and textures, especially the mushrooms ! What makes Vantastic truly special, though, is the friendly guy who runs it. He's not only a master in the kitchen but also incredibly welcoming and attentive to his customers. We felt right at home! Excellent salad bowl, with interesting varied ingredients and textures. Green van easy to spot on the front by the ferry port. Great service and chat about healthy eating with the owner. Highly recommend and plenty of benches and shady places to eat in peace.

Simple, healthy food made with love. Ruben uses good quality produce and is passionate about what he does which translates in the great flavours and lovely service. Juices are great , hummus sandwich was very tasty but for me the salad wins and is simply delicious! Great spot for a healthy lunch by the marina.

We had the salad of the day which was super good! We wanted some healthy, veggie food and were looking for a salad. Not that easy in Funchal. We also got the drink of the day which was sooooo good! It had pineapple as a base and normally I don't even like pineapple but wow - I am glad I tried it!

Vantastic is a vegetarian's dream. I'm a health freak, and this place has the most delicious meals, all prepared fresh, with top ingredients. And the price is very affordable!! This is the best place on Madeira island, and I hope there will be more to come.
