We received a free upgrade from the Cliff Bay Hotel into one of the Duplex "Les Suites" rooms. The room quality was very high and the rooms were very large and clean. There was even an elevator taking you to the second floor, which was just as large as the first floor. The showers are very comfortable and not like the typical bad quality hotel showers. The staff are also all very helpful and are very quick to act upon any requests. There are a large number of facilities in the hotel, 3 (possibly 4) swimming pools, a library and games room (although no books due to COVID), and a gymnasium. The breakfast is very nice with a large selection of food, however the hot food (not served as buffet) can take some time. The only complaint I have during the stay is that there is an infestation of ants in the Breakfast room, and occasionally some might climb onto your plates or into your drinks. Other than that small criticism an excellent hotel to stay at with incredibly views of the sea

Magnificent hotel situated on a cliff overlooking the sea. My wife and I were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, and had planned a week here in one of the duplexes. A week before we arrived, hotel management informed us that there was an overbooking and that they would resolve it by upgrading us to another, larger suite. This room had an even better view and more privacy, so we were happy to accept it. They also kindly offered us half-board for the duration of our stay to thank us for accepting the changed itinerary. I have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, but this experience ranks among the best I've ever had. Incredible service, friendly faces, delicious food and drinks on property, and attention to the most important details during our stay. I appreciated the speed and painless nature with which they solved our overbooking problem as well. Our stay could not have been any smoother. I cannot think of a better place to stay on this island. 5 enthusiastic stars out of 5. Bravo.

Loved our stay here in early January and I will surely return at some point. The hotel is superb and our room was amazing. The service at the hotel can only be described as outstanding. One minor detail to be aware of if you consider booking this hotel. The hotel is connected to the larger Cliff Bay hotel through a corridor and in theory you would have access to the pools and facilities of that hotel also. During a week’s stay at Les Suites I went down to the Cliff Bay hotel only once at I saw no point in spending any time there.

I wrote the review you can find below about 7 months ago and we just got back from a new visit to les suites at the cliff bay. In short: our previous experience was confirmed. We even had the feeling, it got slightly better - which is difficult, considering the high level already. We recognized a lot of the staff from our last visit, which is pretty unique in the hospitality business seeing they're normally subject to a high turnover of staff. For us, this confirmed the passion of the team for this project. Because of the entire team that felt even better attuned (which we thought was nearly impossible), we again had an amazing experience. Thanks a lot to the entire staff for the warm welcome, the great wines and the amazing food. See you again in July! Review September 2020: I don't often write reviews but after our visit at Les Suites I felt obliged to do so: After we first discovered the Portobay hotel chain in Lisbon 3 years ago, we've been revisiting their hotels in Portugal every year (sometimes even multiple times a year). We're a fan of the boutique feeling, the attention to detail and their eye for quality products, decoration, food,... but most importantly the top notch service and the kindness of the staff. Combine this with the kindness of Portuguese people in general, their excellent clean & pure kitchen plus their great wines and you have an ideal holiday. Reason I'm writing this review is because the quality of a stay at Portobay was great at any hotel we've staid at, but this stay was beyond excellent. The rooms, the decoration, the swimming pool(s), bars, breakfast, Avista restaurant were all excellent and also great to have in your hotel when you're somewhat of a foodie. But what made this stay impeccable for us was the level of quality service, kindness and attention of all the staff. This is what transformed our holiday from an average lazy, luxury holiday to what we consider the best hotel experience we've ever had. A sincere thank you to all of the staff. We'll definitely revisit next year, this time with a group of friends.

If you are looking for a premium hotel with stunning views and the full resort experience this is the place for you. But I'm mainly writing this review to thank the management and staff at Cliff Bay and Suites for making our honeymoon so special! You were always one step ahead in knowing what we needed and when. You made our visit truly exceptional! From the luxury pick up at the airport to the restaurant at the hotel.. All exceeded our expectations.. Thank you! We cannot wait to see you again soon!

Les Suites is instantly in my top three hotels. The view, the attention, the accomodations, the details (from the perfectly placed towel handle, the hdmi plugs in the wall, to the design of furniture), the food from their Avista restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and, again, the attention from all personnel.

New 5* hotel in Madeira. All the suites have wonderful sea views. The hotel & rooms are modern and very stylish. We got an upgrade to a split-level duplex suite (perhaps because we stayed during the low season). The room was perfect... We were planning to stay for only 4 days but in the end extended to 8 days because we liked it so much. You have access to the sea pool and the sea through the Cliff Bay Hotel. Superb shower. Very comfortable beds (though I would have liked the option of a feather pillow). Lovely breakfast room (huge windows looking out over the sea) and beautifully landscaped area outside (though weather meant we couldn't use it much). Friendly and helpful staff. Parking space outside the reception area. Easy walk into town (and not too hard coming back, just one slightly steep hill to climb). In the other direction you have the Lido and a nice coastal walk. Lots of good restaurants to choose from in both directions. Not cheap.

Amazing - in every sense. We enjoyed a duplex suite with stunning views. The infinity pool on the top is breathtaking. First time I’ve had the pleasure of staying at a Porto Bay hotel. One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at . The suite was beautiful and spacious The food was excellent and varied but most of all the staff were warm , helpful and always ready to do whatever you needed Excellent spa

Nice views, service was just ok, rooms are large but feel a bit corporate. I prefer the Belmond and will stay there next time.

Ganz tolles Suiten-Hotel - angefangen beim Check-in wurden wir sehr herzlich Empfangen. Das Hotel ist modern und wirklich toll gelegen. Das Frühstück auf der Terrasse war sehr gut und hatte eine sehr gute Auswahl. Der Infinity-Pool hat eine tolle Aussicht und es waren zu jeder Uhrzeit genügend Liegen vorhanden. Der Service (Rezeption, Restaurant, Poolbar, etc.) war top. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Kleine und feine Hotelanlage. Extrem ruhig und exclusiv. Pool könnte nicht schöner sein. Frühstück in traumhafter Lage mit kleiner/feiner Auswahl. Alle Einrichtungen des Cliff Bay Hotels können mitgenutzt werden. Besser kann man sich nicht erholen als im Les Suites.
