Visited on a Friday as I had read that the factory outlet store is also open then (fri-sun from what I can remember but didn't check whether this was correct when we were there). We travelled 2hours on the train to get there and didn't know what to expect. Yes, as per previous reviews, it is small. However, it doesn't mean you have to whizz through quickly. My daughter is a huge Steiff and teddy bear fan, so she enjoyed learning about the history and we spent a while watching bears being made. We also took our time learning about how bears have changed over the years and learning about how to date the bears based on their features. We spent about 4.5hrs there including a trip to the cafe and shop. Although it was small, it was magical. Highlights included being able to sit on giant Steiffs and watching them being made. There is a selection of bears/animals available in the main shop or the outlet.

This place was a lot of fun. Make sure you go down the slide! Little cafe on property has really good sandwiches. Our favorite was the Mediterranean. They have English tours for the first part of the museum.

Excellent place for a visit. The tour around the life of the Bears was outstanding.

For kids a lovely experience! Our daughters 4 and 9 years old loved it! And even us adults were thrilled by the lovely animated tour at the beginning.

Brilliant visit. Far more there than I expected with various twists but won't spoil the surprises for future visitors. Loved it and great value and thoroughly recommend. Very quiet when we went.

Really interesting museum with a few surprises along the way. The cafe is good but basic.

Better than expected. I though it would be just a collection of teddys but no, they also have a few more surprises for the kids :-)

Lovely morning here. Kids were engaged. Appeared to be German only tour ( which is fine, I am in Germany) but missing a trick for the other tongues out there.

You must visit this museum if you love soft toys. The tour begins with a Geman voice over of Margaret Steiffs life story followed by a magical lift up and magical stories with soft toys. Wonderful experience!

If you have a kids this place is worth to visit. But only adults and who are not enthusiastic Steiff this place feels boring.

  • 3/5 Robert W. 3 years ago on Google
There was a 2 hour wait just to get in the door. The attraction itself takes only about 30 minutes.

This place is a must for parents and grandparents if you travel on the A7 or A8. Short exit and you made your kids so happy. The museum is a must. Animals in different sizes even for the biggest daddy's and mum's. We went with our 18 month old and this was so nice for him. Have a look at the outlet before you buy anything in the store next to the museum. You can get a good deal there. Will definitely go back.

Small store and prices are still high. Difficult to navigate with a stroller, especially when crowded.

We visited the place many times in the past. Very nice for the kids. The story and the little tour lovely. However this time was disappointing. There is nobody in the laboratory to show the Teddy bears fabrication, the submarine in the middle is gone, there is no possibility anymore for a birthday party and not a place where the kids can eat some food, unless you want yo pay to eat at the café. After one hour is all done. The suspended toys are very dusty. The ticket price is high for the offer, kids 6 years old 8 euro.

It was well worth it. It wasn't just a museum but an experience. My 16 month old loved it so much. Songs, adventure and moving Steiff animals in search of the teddy bears of the world. And when it's over you get to see all the large animals and sit on many life size ones to take pictures, including and elephant! We'll definitely be going back.

My wife and I visited here in September and spent 90 minutes on the tour and looking through the shop, another 30 minutes would have been good to spend a bit more time walking through and another 30-60 minutes if you're eating there (prices look very reasonable and food looks good). If you have children with you I'd allow another 60 minutes at least as there is a lot to do for all ages but especially children. The children we saw there were having a great time. Parking was free when we were there, the gates opened to let you out without needing a ticket but this may only be on weekends. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, it's close to a train station and the autobahn so access is easy.
