Was admitted at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital on 7 Feb 2022 for the complex metabolic and bariatric surgery, under a programme which is facilitated by a lady named Kutlwano (such a loving soul, may God bless her). The staff at WARD 6, as well as the surgical team are amazing. The nurses are very helpful and the Doctors are thorough and give you the best care. I have never received this kind of care from a private facility where lot of money is spent!!! I am very impressed. Keep up the good work Team.

I went in to see a general surgeon and get a mamo date. I entered the first reception area which was impressively clean and comfy, they even had updated furniture and a huge samsung heater overhead. The two people there were very very helpful and tolerant with the clients! then I was sent to SOPD, the lady there was exceptionally helpful and compassionate, sent me to all the right people to get my booking date. Went to the x-ray department! very helpful, everything was smoothly done. I arrived just after 8 and was done around 09:30. I was nervous because of the language barrier, usually when I say I don't understand the 2 main local languages the treatment changes! but everyone that helped me today treated me with care. I was humbled by this. I was nervous because its a gov facility and we don't have high expectations but today the people I came across blew my mind away. Got lost, a random nurse helped me. Thank you! keep up the good work! God bless!

While you are in ICU the treatment is the best ever, but as soon as you are moved to a General Ward, well horrible, the place is dirty, they treat their patients very bad! People are lyng literally in their own waste and they are not helped or cleaned!! The smell is horrific, the pictures on their website do not reflect the real picture! How is this possible, and this is a academic hospital! Really needs answers!!

I have seen the reviews they say because the hospital is full and it accommodate people coming from far away. However that does not give them the right to put people in the casualty room. My mom slept there imagine sleeping there while you in pains no doctor just nurses checking up and doing nothing. Now as I type this message I am sitting out since 10 o'clock I am being told I can only come in at 3PM for crying out loud this person needs a familiar face at this stage being thrown at the casualty then no visitors allowed. No maan change your visiting hours

Worst service ever!!! Tried to call the Gyne department this morning to find out the name of the doctor, the manager was so rude and didn't want to assist me, because she was "BUSY". She refused to give me her name, only saying that shed was the "MANAGER". She said if I come in for the day she can help me. Do I have to go in to get help that I can get over the phone???? It would really take a few minutes to help me. Imagine, if the service I got over the phone was this pathetic, imagine if I have to go there. The reason for my call was to find out who the doctor is over there, because 1 of my employees went there yesterday. The note has a reference number, but what use is that if you can't get help, she blatently refused to help, probably in my opinion very lazy, and refusal to work. My advice, get rid of those lazy people, and rather employ people more deserving!!!

Worse hospital in South Africa. The doctors are great but the nursing staff and porters are the worse. Especially the night staff at ward.11 orthopedic. The literally dont care about the patient. For them it's just another job to get money and that's that.

Not a patient. Attended their office in order to obtain medical records of a client and found them professional and prepared. they lose a star on parking but otherwise I've waited longer at private hospitals, often. Further they took good care of my client who was in a motor vehicle accident and he is now well and had good comments on this hospital. Thank you, you did this country proud.

This is the worst hospital ever. I brought in a patient who is in a bad condition and we waiting for over 3 hours no, he hasn't even been checked, the day staff has knocked off now, I wonder how long are we going to wait before we will be assisted by the night staff. This hospital is ridiculous and the nurses just don't care

As I write this now you can go check pregnant woman are sleeping on the bench awaiting to be assisted as all 30 beds in the maternity ward are occupied. The so called academic hospital only serve to produce nurses n doctors only concerned about making salaries n enrichment of an incompetent management team who lacks the foresight to foresee a mere over admission problem. Black people are just incompetent show me a competent caring person I'll show u how Jesus worked on water

I treated well until I transferred to ward 34. I reported from ward 2 that am not feeling well, and they transfer me ward 34 so I was very worse around 2am and I eeh to ask help from nurses I found them sleeping and they shout at me to go back on my bed or otherwise they going to hung me, because it's not their fault to be poisoned,... I was vomiting experience the first symptoms when I started to sick, they able to help me after they saw the problem is very serious.... They take their time. They are lazy to do their job... Am not happy the way they treat us at ward 34.

I was parked at Gynocology, then went to pharmacy side as I struggle to walk, I saw an open parking close, just when Inparked the car guard came to tell me I can not park there unless the gate security say I can, I was already inside and needed to wait for my mother after the gynocology changed my referral lwtter to ucology after waiting 2 hours already in que, pretty irate already, he did not want me to park in a open spot, why I do not know, but others not having any mobility issues get to park there close to the pharmacy. Abuolutely horrible experience with the worst attitude ever from a car guard. I can probably have a heart attack infront of a doctor here and they will not even help. Which is part of the reason I was hoping to see a doctor due to a massive pain attack last night numming my whole left arm and back, and as expected from this hospital, no one listened to me trying to get help, just sent to another clinic which is only open on tuesdays. I thought they are suppose to put peoples lifes first before anything else, did they not do a auth about it. Useless I tell you.

Staff were friendly. The plastic surgeon who was meant to stitch my torn nose together made me wait 8 hours and then totally botched the job. An uncaring human who has left me with permanent nasal damage and disfigurement due to incompetence. Wish I'd taken the man's name. Beware the plastic surgeon at this hospital.

I would like to extend my appreciation to all the dedicated and amazing staff in ward 15 for their exceptional service and hard work. I was discharged yesterday after a ACL reconstruction surgery. I felt like at home and was well taken care of. Thanks to all the doctors and team who made this procedure a success. Special thanks to Dr Khanyile and Dr Senyolo as well as the anaesthetist present.

On the 25th of August 2023 the father of my son phoned me and requested me to accompany him to one of his friends, I agreed he then came fetched me from Hebron we drove together to soshanguve, as he was driving I saw him driving towards Block BB clinic, outside I saw a friend of my mother standing, when she saw the car she approached and gave signal to the father of my son that he should enter the clinic yard at the staff entrence, I then asked again why are we by the clinic he told me that he came to see his friend. We drove in parked the car then I saw my mom and her friend, the father of my son requested me to accompany him inside the clinic, I refused to get outside of the car as I've already seen their plan. I refused to get inside the clinic, my mom came with nurses by the car as I was sitting inside the car they tried convincing me that I need professional assistance as I'm mentally ill according to them, spoke to the nurses explained why I didn't want to be at the clinic, they then left after hearing the side of my story because my mother already portrayed a bad story to them regarding my health. I asked the father of my son to take me back home, he agreed, my mother and her friend climbed inside the car and drove with us, according to me I thought we driving towards Hebron so they could drop me by the house. We drove to Dr. George Mukhari entered the gate as if we had an emergency. We parked by the emergency dropp off, my mother and her friend went inside the clinic, one of the staff ladies came by my window and told me to get inside the clinic and I refused, I explained to her why I didn't want to get inside I even made her aware that I have my own medical aid. She tried convincing me to get inside, and she failed. They phoned Vimba female security officer's to come take me outside the car, and I still refused. Five male security officer's working for Vimba security came and pulled me by force while they were pulling me out they were hurting me, they chased people away from, scene and covered the front windscreen with clinic sheet. As I was getting hurt by the Vimba male officer's I voluntarily went outside the car then they lifted me up to lay down on the stratcher hospital bed that didn't even have a sheet on top, they grabbed my hands very painful and tired me with the handcuffs as well as my legs just like a prisoner. They took me to the mental ward waited to be seen by a nurse, I got by the hospital around 15H30 the nurse saw me around 19H00, Dr saw me around 23H00 and the psychiatrist saw me in the morning around 08H00 she then discharged me as she saw that I'm mentally fit. I was treated very badly, my rights were violated, and the deformation of my own character was changed. What happened to PEACE,JUSTICE, and STRONG INSTITUTIONS

My Brother passed away at the hospital in ward 7 due to liver failure, he was operated, my concern was that, the last time we visited there the Indian doctor told us that during the operation of my brother they found that all the liver was affected, meaning that they ended up cutting it all, so my question is that, how can a human being survive without a liver, and how can you operate someone without knowing the affected place of a liver, this is eating my health and we are thinking to take this matter further

If i could give a minus 5 starts i would. My child is sick and in the children's wards. Which is supposed to be a covid ward so only 1 parent allowed in at a time, when me and my wife wanted to swap so she could rest they had a bit fit about the mom only being allowed in, as this is 3 in the morning she is tired, other people come and go as they please while the nurses or on their phones watching videos. Further more if this ward is a covid ward shouldn't there be someone making sure any one entering gets sanitized or atleast have a properly marked out sanitizer???

VERY VERY POOR level of care. My mother broke her hip and was laying in traction for two weeks, she sadly passed away due to a pulmary embolism and renal failure. She complained about mistreatment and poor food the day before her death. Im heartbroken and feel like the poor level of care she recieved from the hospital is a major reason for her untimely death. She should have recovered from this as she was still young and otherwise healthy. We will probably never know the truth of what happened. One minute we were communicating and she said she was going to have the operation to the next that she has died. On the day that we had to go and identify her body we were first told about someone elses relatives death due to a administration error. On her death certificate the marked the reasons with a "?" next to it. As in they are not even sure what she died of.I would say that if you have a choice to avoid this hospital at all cost.

Bad bad service, that hospital doesn't care about people , a very sick little girl got there through emergency from 4pm , it's now 21:12 as I type this and she's still crying waiting for the doctors and she's in deep pain , the nurses are rude and don't care whether people are in deep pain or what , even when its their lunch time , one will tell you that it's her lunch time and that you just wait for her , while you're in pains and dying? What kind of people are these ?? Are we now just studying medicine for money? Are we just working for salaries? What happened to the passion of helping people, the hunger for healing the nation? Or all of them just keep on lying just to get into medicine schools?? The government needs to do something!

Today 4 Sept 2023I went for my check up and eye treament. I arrived at 6 in the morning. I had and appointment with an eye doctor and he referred me to another doctor cos he said he cannot see me even though he is the one who booked me for this day. The socend doctor that he referred me to also refuses to assist me cos he said the the. Doctor who booked me did not talk to him. 5 hours later still have not received treatment or seen any doctor. Still waiting and counting the hours. If u are coming for consultation here just be prepared for a very bad treatment and ugly service....

The place is dirty, I saw used gloves thrown outside next to walkways. I really do not understand how can a medical professional in their right state of mind can dispose such dangerous things in public. The nurses left a a bucket with some liquid they drained from my sister for days instead of disposing it in the medical waste. My sister died waiting for tests which were taking forever, I really hate this place.

My Grandmother is currently admitted at the hospital , and has since had toes imputation due to Ghuangrie infection on her middle toe . Post surgery nothing has been explained to us as to what was performed and progress. We have since been able to see her and as usual apart from the norm of nurses , there was a a professor and a few Drs in the ward who didn't bother answering our queries which are due to her recovery process let by her frail years 89 old . As if that is not bad enough we've had to here from my cousins late afternoons visitation that they may / have scheduled a bypass for her as they suspect or found vescular deasese in one of her test . This is not validated and she was told in passing , my poitp is who was contacted and if not why , as we were there yesterday 02/05/2018 and the previous day and were clearly ignored . If such a decision can be reached without consulting next of keens By a Dr Luke whose concern is he going by . A bypass is not just a surgery you wake up and decide hey we gonna perform this but a high decision for a person my grandmother's age. I have contacted the ward and the duty nurse couldn't confirm anything as nothing reflected on her file and has advised we come Tommorow at 8 to see the Dr Luke as his handling the case. I would be very upset if anything happens in the interem without our consent as she's not a case study or part of a stats count. Her ligl matters still . The will be replications really.

My Grandma broke her hip on the 29 of April 2017. she was admitted at Brits district hospital for 10 days she then was transferred to George Mukhari hospital for the hip replacement she stayed there without the operation for nearly 2 months. they did the operation on the 19 june 2017. ont the 21st she did not receive any food or supplements or nothing she was weak and confused she lost a lot of blood after i was at the hosp they gave her blood and put her on drip feeding. their service was not up-to standard. the hospital is filthy and full of roaches the food was horrible my transport was a problem to be there every day. once when I was there for a visit her bedsheets was dirty. and they just didnt care. the night staff was always nice and helpfull but the day staff that's the problem.

The psychiatrist is excellent and knows how to communicate effectively with the patient and family members. Always available when you need an update on everything pertaining to the patient.

Very professional staff. Brought my 89 year old grandmother who was attacked by a bad allergy. We came with Paramedics around 3am, the hospital was hectic because of Covid patients, but the Doctor attended her 3 hours later. The nurse who was attending to us was very professional.

The experience is very bad. It's very crowded and my niece was sick we spent the day and night at casualty, the following day it was a holiday we had to wait until 10:00 to collect medication at pharmacy there's another queue but they helped us very fast. I was really tired spending hours at hospital.
