Beyond garbage school gym. You would think a school with such high funding would invest in better equipment but they let the students have the rusted over equipment from 2002. Maybe upgrade equipment and introduce more equipment? UCF makes this gym look like it’s been abandoned for 10 years and UF just started cleaning it up 2 weeks ago. Edit March 2023: they renovated the gym and made it larger… added 6 squat racks and 2 deadlift platforms… what about the rest? They just spread out all their garbage machines and made it spread out garbage. Gym is still dog water and an embarrassing gym for a Top 5 public university. Rating: 2/5.

It is extremely disappointing for a top 5 public university to only have one gym that works. In my previous school (not a top 5 public university), the staff wipe the floor every day after the gym closes. Here, nobody wipes the court and it is extremely dirty and slippery, which is dangerous for all sports on the court. What really frustrates me is that they adjust their schedules randomly for football games and holidays. The ironic part is that the students paid for the memberships. I can't imagine any instances in commercial gyms that they could close whenever they want to close if they got paid to run the gym. They have intramural games run constantly on weekday nights. This means if you are not on an intramural team, you can't use the courts at all. Come on. This is absolutely ridiculous. Thumb down the worst gym that I have experienced!

I love southwest it is usually pretty crowded besides for before noon but that is expected they are expanding it now and adding new equipment which I am so excited for. The staff there is always really nice and they have all the machines you could need. They also have many different areas where you can workout which is nice. Definitely a way better gym than student Rec and I also prefer it over crunch. Also over the summer the gym is really dead like in the picture I attached. They also have shake smart in here which is pretty good. They have 2 free massage chairs now which I really like to use after my workout

Spacious and well equipped. Free for students with long hours. Can’t complain!

Honestly disappointed by the shape of the weight training room. It’s pretty small for the amount of traffic it gets, always under repairs, and the machines are cramped together. You get a workout done, but I’d of imagined better considering what we pay in fees.

Well organized gym with a great assortment of machines. You should never run into a problem of machines being filled. That coupled with everything (for the most part) free for students really gets one excited to go and get fit. Wish there was non-decal parking though. All in all a great gym!

pretty good equipment selection and attendance by students! I definitely recommend going outside of peak hours, esp for compound equipment. Ended up paying almost 17$ for a guest pass, which was probs the only downside

Could have some more machines and better music but overall it's a good gym

Haven't been here since 2005, but it was pretty cool then. I go to a lot of baseball games, nearby and the gym is always bustling.

This is a really nice space that is rarely visited. Tons of great information about adventure trips and equipment rentals,

Came in for a taekwondo class. Was explaining to the front desk that I was there earlier and so I would need to be let in through the door since you cant scan in twice. They were kind of rude to me, worst part is I work there too and the reason I was there earlier was because I was on shift. They were asking things like “who are you?” and when they coworker who knew me said who I was, the manager (micheal I think) said “I have no idea who that is” in a very rude and condescending tone. I understand being tired or stressed while working and I can relate since I also work there but I came in as a patron and if I didn’t work there and the staff talked to me like that I would’ve left and even worse review. I’m being nice since we’re coworkers but that genuinely made me upset.
