Cozy place located bordering the sinharaja rain forest. Location was beautiful with views of the hills. There is a natural pool just a short walk from there where you can have a bath. You can also go on treks. Rooms were ok, bit dated but was fine for the price. Food was good and the staff were very helpful and attentive. Overall we had a great stay. Recommended for a small groups.

A beautiful sanctuary, albeit in the middle of renovation whilst we were there. The staff (who seemed to work all hours) ...were exceptional. It is a modern hotel, designed as if it was a historic tea planter's bungalow. It has an incredible, new swimming pool that looks out across the forest and a natural pool (part of a river) with crystal blue waters and fish (and endemic blue magpies flying around). Two very kind local tea workers cut some walking poles to help us get across the rocks there. We saw a range of birds, including 3 endemic bird species we didn't get to see in Sinharaja Forest itself from our bedroom balcony. Wonderful food, wonderful passion fruit juice (from fruits grown in their garden), wonderful place. It is a great idea only to have WiFi in the main Bungalow. We were in the larger family/group Bungalow and had to ask for mosquito nets over 1 bed...and another bed needed the mattress put on a bed frame up off the floor. The beds are also slightly short if you're over 6ft. The hotel seems completely immune to creepy crawlies. But if you're going into Sinharaja, bring gators for your boots, or leech socks, or long socks or maybe wellies as there are (albeit very tiny) leeches about that can quickly crawl up your boot/trousers if they have something to grip onto.

Amazing experience! It's a hidden gem in Sri Lanka and will cater for every type of need. You love nature but dont want to hike, this is the place to go. You want to hike in the Singharaja forest? Well this is the best place to stay. You just want to be with your loved one? Nothing can beat this place. The bunglow itself is an art in the middle of the forest, packed with memories from the past but also with all modern day amenities to make you comfortable. Above all, the staffs are exceptionally good and will ensure you have personalised experience all the time. They will know yoir need even before you notice. I woild like to thank Lasith for his exceptionally hospitality. I have been to many places but never found someone like him.

A hidden gem bordering Sinharaja forest. Really a beautiful and peaceful location on a hill with amazing views everywhere around. Walking distance, there is a waterfall and river where you can take a dip and a minute from the bungalow a beautiful natural pool where you can swim. A former tea estate transformed into bungalow with a few rooms, tastefully decorated with an antique touch. Rooms are clean, comfortable bed and have a terrace with a lovely view. There is also a new infinity swimming pool where you can relax on sun beds watching the Sinharaja forest in front of you. We had full board and enjoyed the local cuisine as well as some western dishes. The staff was amazing, very accommodating and friendly. Recommend to everyone who wants to connect to the nature, have a peaceful time and enjoy a beautiful accommodation and a great service.

Excellent place to relax, well supported & Super friendly staff (Tharindu and Team) makes the place so comfortable to guests. The sound of the river and the river itself is just breathtaking.. A dip in the river is a must it was so soothing that we didn’t want to get out of the water! Next in line is the INFINITY POOL. Its a newly built and the view from the pool is fantastic. he resort has to be specially mentioned for its cleanliness and service!! Excellent would be the best word! The rooms were spacious and bathrooms clean and convenient.. The huge balconies were best to sit out in the Misty mornings infront of Sinharaja Forest while having your tea.. The Sri Lankan meals provided were delicious… Service was also perfect as they were always ready to help us or to cater to our wants.. Very friendly staff.. will recommend Jansen's bungalow to family and friends for sure. Looking forward to more visits there again! Thank you Niron, Gayathri, Tharindu & His young energetic staff.

Absolutely loved the sweeping views around the property. The bungalows, building and decor were exceptional, beautiful gardens and interesting antiques can be found all over the property. Great for wildlife watching, spent my time watching birds and troups of purple faced langurs playing in the trees across the valley. Spent alot of time around the amazing infinity pool with 270 degree views. Great Sri Lankan food and service! highly recommend!!

Jansens is a lovely bungalow nestled in to the edges of Sinharajah Forrest. Very peaceful, with excellent food, pool with scenic views, and charming decor. The rooms are a bit basic reflecting the price, but you definitely won't be left wanting for anything. I recommend full voard as theres limited options but also the food is excellent. Great place to spend a couple of nights relaxing, enjoying the tranquillity, and enjoying the hikes. It's a short drive to the ticket office / entrance of Sinharajah. Jansens offers early breakfast and package lunch pack if you need. Get there at 7am when they open for the early morning walk. You *MUST* wear leech socks as the rain forest is filled with them - go to a Alpine camping store in Colombo for 1500rupees, or I think you can even rent them from the ticket office. Note the hike is 4-6hrs, and the long hike to Singhagala of 10hrs has been closed since Covid. Price is reasonable at 1200rupees for a foreigner plus 2500 for a guide. Excellent rainforest for hiking, birdwatching, and just enjoying the great outdoors.
