This is long overdue review. I spent the second day of my honeymoon here on room only basis ,on last year December. We selected the place due to its convenient location close to our homecoming venue We had our fair share of doubts when we booked the room because of some of the bad reviews complaining about a certain smell. Oh boy were they right!. We had a pool view room. It was very small, yet seemed clean. The bathroom was a mess really. It wasn't properly cleaned. My wife took an hour to clean it again before we could use it. The most worrisome thing however ,was the smell. There was a really foul smell, which was very strong at night. We tried hard to find the source we couldnt. We complained to the management about it and they didn't have a single care in the world. Maybe because we were there on a room only basis? The service was subpar for a place that charged so much for such a small room. The real positive was the pool, which was surprisingly good actually. There wasn't enough space for parking , and I had to move my car several times through the day, which wasn't convenient. All in all, we had a really underwhelming experience , and we had never even thought of suggesting the place to anyone.

This is my third visit to the hotel. The service is impeccable as always . The Bacon Pizza and the Koththu were delicious and the pancakes at breakfast were the fluffiest I’ve ever eaten. The hotel does need a coat of paint and some TLC but overall it was a satisfying experience.

Nice pool, great value! Remember, no swimming after 10 pm. Clean facilities, plus convenient food options available on-site. And it's conveniently close to Jungle Beach!

Went there with a couple of friends and we booked the 6 bed dormitory. Beds were comfortable. But the washroom was not so clean. It had a bad smell we had to use an air freshener both in the washroom and in the bedroom. Also the towels provided were too old and worn out some of them even had holes in it. Plus side - friendly staff, convenient place

This is truly a budget hotel. There was no view from the room, in fact you could see from one room to the other which is not a good thing. We had to change the room since the Air Conditioner was not working, The second room too had air-conditioning problems which was cooling but also rattling disturbing our sleep. The food was quite good which was the only highlight of the place. The upkeep of the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. However, The positive is an excellent staff who was pleasant and quite helpful at all times

The trip started with a bump but the management went way over to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The view is beautiful and special mention to their chef. The Indian food (vegetarian) was excellent. The way of serving in room is beautiful. Go for it. You will enjoy, relax and unwind here.

I visited Hotel J Unawatuna with a few of my friends, and we got two triple rooms with breakfast. It is a very calm and quiet place for a quick get-away. It is also located in an area where we could walk towards many restaurants and the Unawatuna Beach. The food we ordered from the hotel was really good and did pretty well with the quantity. The rooms that we got were spacious and clean (but the bathrooms could be a bit more cleaner). Even though they don't provide tea/coffee making facilities or water bottles in the room, as they do belong to Jetwing budget hotels, overall, the rooms, food, and service from the staff were second to none. I will certainly be staying here again!

As for me the Hotel J is actually good for the price and also The place is also very convenient. I rated 4 stars for the room is because the family rooms is actually amazing it's like a villa , But as for normal rooms it's too crampy and stuff. As for the service its a bit slow but it doesn't matter to me since there many people who have come to the hotel . Most of all You guys would want to about the internet connection the WiFi is super good and super fast . So yeah recommend to visit the hotel .Since I am new reviewer but I do know the when it comes to quality and other preferences.

It was really a nice surprise. We got here because we had to relocate in the evening of our arrival as the accomodation we book ahead of our arrival had mold in the room. So we called and they stayed even after their regular front desk opening ours to make sure we will get the room for the night! And also after the check-in the whole staff was just realy friendly and accomodating. The room is big enough for the budget category of hotels. The room was clean and dry, the AC works well and the bathroom is top notch for this price segment. There are plenty of outlets to charge all your gear and a smal desk if you need to work. The WiFi works, but does not allow VPNs, so if your comapny requires one you might have to rely on your mobile data if you gotta work. Beeing a budget hotel it was surprising that the breakfast is made to order instead of a bufet, but the quality of the breakfast is nice. The selection is a bit limited but managable. The only downside is the location. If you want to rely on Tuks to get around this might actually be a good location for you as it's bang in the middle of Galle and Unawatuna. But if you prefere to explore an area by foot this is not a great location as there is nothing close by, and walking multiple kilometers in Sri Lankan climate on Sri Lankan roads (no sidewalks) is not a pleasure.

Rooms are basic and disturbed by the loud noise of others at pool side, no views, no privacy. location is perfect , local food is Ok, western ones are not to the quality as it should be, reachable to city or main attractions within few minutes, less than 1hr, But, sadly manager didn’t care about two things happened. I requested their help to open/brake the padlock of my luggage just after the check in since I had lost the key of that, and they simply broke the zipper which cannot be reused and said ‘one zipper is working’. Second worst thing is, I left my golden necklace just on my bed before a shower and went out. Next day we moved the room and next day checked out, I explained to them that I’ve lost my necklace. Still it’s ‘no news’ after several calls and messages to the manager, they said there’s one staff is not loyal and problem him. But no action has been taken that I’m aware of or I didn’t get my necklace back. It was stolen by a housekeeper. I reported to Jetwing head office customer care / lost and found team too, simply said sorry. I’ll never return to this place.

Stayed one night on last week, service standards, cleanliness, ambience is pretty worthy in comparison with other places nearby. Located in a very convenient location pretty near to Unawatuna and Jungle beaches. And one hour drive to Mirissa as well. We were on BB basis and had several choices for the morning meal and its delicious. Must mention about the pool, though it cannot be occupied by all the guests at a time, pool was very clean and tidy. Overall my experience is much better rather than other places nearby at same cost. Hope to visit again for sure, considering the convenient location.

The hotel provided a decent stay, but cleanliness and maintenance could be improved. We were given a small room smelling bad and not cleaned at all. There were stains everywhere in the room even on bedsheets. We had to ask the staff to change our bedsheets and put an air freshener. Later, the property manager (couldn't get his name) offered us a new room. We were given an incorrect bill for the extra meals we purchased and they had to refund me the overcharged amount. The staff was really helpful. The way their property manager deals with their guests should be really appreciated. When it comes to food, I cannot complain about a single thing. They served us very delicious food. Overall experience was not great.

Hotel evaluation: food, service, room, facilities, everything is bad Dinner is inedible I contacted the staff 3 times regarding the service and room not being cleaned. No room, no tea or water provided. There's no refrigerator either. Towels are bath towels only The equipment is old, with lots of mold and stains. It was unsettling because of the noisy guests at the pool until late at night.

The place is amazing for a budget hotel and staff is really friendly also they are service is very efficient. They have amazing breakfast options, I would recommend the pancake/waffle option if you like your breakfast sweet. On top of that their chicken fried rice is amazing. If you need any sort of munchies there is a food city just opposite to the hotel. The place is not big it is very compact but you don't feel like stuck, the rooms have ample space. But it is crowded on the weekends and pool can occupy only few people. It is a 15 min walk away from the unawatuna beach.

We stayed at this Jetwing budget hotel for 02 nights for 4500 LKR per person per night on BB. (9000 LKR in total) For the price we paid, it was better than expected for a budget hotel and their service was prompt and warm.. Everyone who served us were friendly and whatever questions we had were promptly answered. We had breakfast and dinner from the hotel itself and it was also fulfilling and very well worth the price. Dinner was great but we forgot to take photos. Unlike in most hotels they don’t rush you for anything and can easily give 10/10 for the service we received. They have a pool which we didn’t get to use but looked clean. I read negative reviews that they don’t provide tooth brushes, tea, coffee in the rooms, BUT clearly, they haven’t mentioned having them in their advertisements either. We went prepared because we knew what they provided and didn't, so no trouble encountered. Therefore, before writing negative reviews please make sure you read the hotel amenity details clearly, so you get what you want and the hotel doesn’t receive any false negative reviews. (At least in most cases where the hotels don’t lie :) ) The 04 of us stayed in the air conditioned 02 bunk bed room (04 beds in total) which was small but once again it was expected through the photos and size details on the web. It was very comfortable and clean with all requirements to survive two nights. Faulty areas: Wish the bathroom had a hand shower in the showering area. There was a leak in the commode when we checked in but upon informing they fixed it almost immediately, Our electricity went out a few times due to some internal issue, but that too was fixed without delay. It was a wonderful stay and many thanks to the Hotel J staff for making it so .

This hotel doesn’t even deserve a 1 star. Our first impression was really disappointed coz we booked a standard double room and they gave us a standard twin room. Worse part is that room was not even cleaned. Then we informed the receptionist about the room type we booked. Then they gave the correct room we booked, with full of ants and leaking water from AC right next to the bed. And bed sheets and pillows cases wasn’t even good for a human to use. The bathroom had a really bad smell which made us really hard to stay inside the room. And the food also not good enough.

Clean and comfy. Friendly and really helpful staff. Very attentive and takes good care of you. Pool is bit small but nice. For me it’s the food that amazed me. Big portions and really delicious. My compliments to the chef. If you’re around unawatuna and crave for good food go to J and have their black pork curry. You won’t regret it ❤️

Basic budget hotel with a great pool and lovely staff! Rooms were spacious and clean with a balcony, desk & chair, TV with local channels, air con and a ceiling fan. Although housekeeping is available, and I believe there is supposed to be a card to put on the door, we never had one and despite mentioning this on several occasions we were never given one and had to constantly ask for housekeeping, fresh towels etc. Towels for the pool are also available and although there is a space for them they're rarely at the side of the pool, so you need to go ask for them too! Service can be a little slow, one morning I waited 40 minutes and no-one took my breakfast order so I had to go in and ask for that too, service is a hit and a miss, sometimes people are buzzing round you and other times they don't come near! We stayed here for 8 nights as a stop gap due to a change in our plans, and it was fine.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient for both business and leisure travel. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming hotel.

Stay in hotel J in Galle, Sri Lanka, was truly delightful. Situated conveniently close to the beach, although not beachfront, the hotel offered a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The highlight for me was the inviting pool, a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The hotel's vibrant and colorful decor added a unique charm to the atmosphere. The interior of the rooms was equally impressive - well-designed and impeccably clean, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The culinary offerings were a standout feature. The food was not only delicious but also reflective of the local flavors, providing an authentic culinary experience. The friendly and accommodating staff further enhanced the overall stay, ensuring that I felt welcomed and well taken care of. It's worth noting that the hotel charges a corkage fee, so be prepared if you plan to bring your own beverages. The strategic location of the hotel made it convenient to access various attractions such as Jungle Beach, Unawatuna, and Galle, all just a short drive away. In summary, if you're looking for a colorful and comfortable stay near the beach, with excellent food and a friendly staff, this hotel is a fantastic choice. The convenient access to nearby attractions is an added bonus.

Under the jetwing group this is a good accommodating place. I found two problems Service not good, rooms not cleaning on a regular basis: we had to inform the staff several times. As a budget hotel price is too high.

Hotel j has its positives and negatives both.its a nice little hotel and you can easily reach main city in minutes, and the staff is really good and most positive part is themy and the place is clean and new.. pool is ok and rooms need more attention where they have to change their clothings(bed sheets, towels, curtains because they are old but not dirty.) But for a basic small hotel i would say rooms are ok. Down side is food, i only booked room only because i wanted to check different restaurants in the area but you can order food from them and we ordered one sriankan meal and one italian dish.srilankan meal was ok but the italian dish was not to the standards which i am not surprised for the amount that we pay for that. But overall it a nice little hotel.

We were thoroughly disappointed with the hotel service. We had initially requested an upstairs room facing the pool, and the hotel front office had confirmed it was possible. However, upon our arrival, one of the staff members informed us that the entire hotel was fully booked. They stated that the only available room was room number 1, leaving us with no other option. Unfortunately, room number 1 was far from satisfactory; No view, a small bucket was kept instead of a dustbin ,it was not clean, the amenities were subpar, and there were even stains on the chair that were not even clean. We. We were travelling with an 18 month old and did not have a heater. We had to request a dustbin, pillow covers, Mats, etc. Furthermore, some of the bathroom fixtures were broken. Our two-night stay at hotel J was a truly dreadful experience. We strongly advise future guests to thoroughly check the room arrangements prior to their arrival. Not recommended to traveling with babies or toddlers.

The hotel is located along the main road of Unawatuna, which makes it convenient to walk over to the beach. The rooms are decently spacious, clean. Apart from above points, everything else is going wrong in the hotel. The staff isn't helpful at all, we checked in around 10pm after a long day of traveling from another city, and they made us wait for 25 minutes just to do the paperwork, not even letting us pay for the room after dinner, as if we'll run away with all our luggage in the rooms. Oh, water bottles are not included in the rooms(that's a first!). And room cleaning isn't done without asking for it at the counter, and even then the floor is not wiped clean. Overpriced for the kind of services they provide.

I was here with a bunch of friends two weeks ago. We were worried about the recent negative reviews but ended up having a wonderful time. We stayed in the 6 bed dormitory (separated from rest of the room types, so allows best privacy) and the 4 bed male dormitory (better facilities and interiors) Overall we loved this property, very convenient location for exploring Una. Having a supermarket next door is such an advantage! We enjoyed the pool and playing cards and dining in the outdoor seating area. All the breakfast options were delicious too. Manger was kind enough to allow a late check out. The staff even returned a pair of shades i had left behind. Great hospitality and service for a budget hostel. Definitely worth the price. Thank you. Cons : In the 6 bedroom dorm - Lockers weren’t operable. Bathrooms smelled badly and water wouldn’t drain. ACs weren’t working properly at all. Some basic amenities like towels, glasses weren’t included but the staff was very kind to provide everything we asked for.

Little pricy for a budget hotel, clean linen and bathroom. Privacy is but limited due to glass windows and rolling windows are not closed properly. No free water given, so you have to pay Rs. 400 for two water bottles. Do recommend as your last resort , safe and cozy. However, I will recommend. Staff is friendly as well.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was a complete disaster. The biggest issue was the bed bugs. I woke up with bites all over my body and it was extremely uncomfortable. On top of that, the other guests were very loud at night which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The bed bug issue alone is enough to steer clear of this place. It was a huge disappointment and a complete waste of money.
