This hotel is situated in front of the most spotted beach in Hikkaduwa,just next to the Hikka Trans Hotel. there you can watch turtles in the clear blue water & the coral sands everywhere. This hotel maintains its traditional structure as it is with the improvements of modens facilities for reasonable cheap price. Hospitality of the staff was in a excellent way specially Mr.Isuru deliver an admirable service. It’s extremely value for the money u spend, if u wish to stay at Hikkaduwa, don’t bother to select this place, cleanliness,comfort,location & everything was perfect. For foods u can just visit to the hotel “Moon Light” just in front of this hotel for delirious foods for reasonable price (this is run by a foreigner) This was our 2nd time in this hotel & they’ve upgraded room facilities this time & we’ll be there in this hotel in our next trip at hikkaduwa for Sure.

Pros- Amazing place to watch the sunset. Great beach. Turtle watching is nearby. We saw baby sharks as well! Isuru was very nice and helpful. Made us feel welcome and made us some good tea. Cons- the room near the beach was infested with some flying bugs at night that gets attracted to light (image attached). It was very difficult to sleep. We showed this to a guy there while checking out and he didn’t seem to care. Locks and windows didn’t feel very safe. We were 2 girls in the beach view room and it was a bit stressful. We paid extra for an AC room but the AC didn’t cool the room at all. We kept all the windows and bathroom door closed as well as suggested after complaining. But it was just old and broken. Overall the place is great value for money if the room stuff doesn’t bother you:)

It is not as it looks. Rooms are very basic. Dirty marks on the commeds. It's good for set of boy's. I'm not recommend for family with small children.

The location is amazing / right on the beach and accessible There is some nice chill spots outside hammocks chairs etc However, imo none of this matters as the rooms where not clean. The mattresses were stained and dirty and the towels were also stained. The room in general was not clean.

This place is great! The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff is amazing. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell that making customers happy is their top priority. They went above and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable.A special mention should be made of Mr.Isuru of the staff. His service is very interesting.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I stayed with my family in the large room. Value for money. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Isuru the main caretaker is very accommodative. They do not have a restaurant but plenty of eating places in the vicinity. Call them directly for the best rates.

Budget hotel. Rooms are OK but require detailed cleaning and colour wash. Can be improved greatly.

Ideal place for a solo or couple for traveling. Received very good friendly service from isuru who cares the premises. The place is an antique building. Required new painting. Washrooms are clean and have hot water.

I love this place, the older style home and the location is exactly what you see in a travel brochure ... the staff could not be more helpful and welcoming. This is Sri Lankan character and I don't want the super modern hotels full of people who are prisoners of social image ! I will be returning, and returning for many years to come ... LOVE IT.

A Great Location - Really bad Service This is one of the greatest locations around Hikkaduwa area. So close to the beach. The beach is one of the best. You’ll find many sea creatures just around 50m-100m from the hotel. Hermit Crabs, Eels, Sharks, Turtles, Urchins, etc. You can go for a snorkelling session at just a walking distance from the place - don’t miss that chance. It’s a shame they this place has such a bad service. Let me explain: - When we entered the hotel, they asked to fill a form, and they gave me a small pencil, which was literally 3cm long. Couldn’t even grip it. Well, we all thought it’s just a joke and went along. - Room wasn’t cleaned properly. It wasn’t dirty, but wasn’t clean either. - The fan wasn’t working. They didn’t even check whether it’s working before handing it to us. (We got a non A/C room, so a fan is a must). - One room had a malfunctioning door lock, which seems to be an age old one. They didn’t bother but said *there’s some issue* with that lock. - The bedsheets were dirty. They didn’t give blankets. So we checked the top sheet, under it there were sand, dust, some spider webs, etc. - One room had a mosquito net that smelled bad. They haven’t cleaned it for ages. Another room didn’t have a mosquito net at all. - No soap, toilet papers, toothbrushes, or toothpaste. After we asked for, they gave a small bar of soap. That’s all. - One morning, we found that we are out of tap water. When notified, the caretaker said the motor was broken and it’ll take some time to get the water back. We waited for sometime and decided to take a bath at sea instead of waiting there. - No tea making facilities (which I say a commodity here). They didn’t even provide drinking water. (The tap water isn’t in drinkable). - When we asked whether we can get some tea, the caretaker hesitated, then said they have to charge extra (which is kinda okay), but even after the charges, we had to go to the kitchen and make it ourselves. 😂 (We ended up having a coffee from a cafe outside). - We asked for a couple of plates, to which caretaker agreed. But around 10PM we went to get the plates, but no one was there. We saw some lights in the kitchen was on, but no one answered even after we knocked the door multiple times. - last but not the least, they don’t have a card payment option. When we went to settle the bill, they asked us to go to a nearby ATM and bring cash! - They advertised they have WiFi, but we did not get any WiFi information. (We had our options, so didn’t ask; they should’ve give us it anyways). All in all, I feel really sad about the state of this place. Such a great location wasted. If they can hire a decent staff could be a great place to stay at Hikkaduwa.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location near the beach was absolutely fantastic, making it a perfect choice for anyone who loves the ocean. The rooms were clean, providing a pleasant place to relax. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. Considering the affordable price, this hotel is definitely a bargain. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great beachside getaway.

We had a lovely stay here, we started booking for two days and liked the location so much we extended five more nights, the staff accommodated this without issues. The staff and manager were super friendly and the location was perfect as it was right on the beach and at the center of town.

my experience was disappointing. Rooms are not like uploaded photos. totally messed up. badly maintained all rooms. mold smell in the all rooms. Unable to recommend it to anyone. The restaurant ambiance was dull, and the decorations were outdated. poor response to the calls after reach to the place. The management seemed disinterested and unprofessional.

Probably one of the best locations I've ever visited. Whether you are a solo traveler, a couple, a group of friends or a family, you will definitely love the location. As the property has beach access you can dip in the ocean anytime you wish. If you want to enjoy sunset, or just read a book enjoying the view, then this is definitely the place to be. The caretaker was really friendly and always ready to help if we request anything. I guess the restaurant isn't functioning at the moment but you can find plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. You can park your vehicle without any trouble at the premises too. The room was spacious and the attached bathroom had hot water facility also. And the room was fitted with square pin plug points. Doors to the room and bathroom were a bit difficult to open and close as they seemed a little stuck. I guess one or two lights were not working too. Those never bothered myself but just a heads up because someone might find it not good. All in all from the moment of booking, I received positive response from the owners and the caretaker when we arrived. Already decided to visit here again when the time permits.

Stayed here last month with a friend and one of the best locations to stay in Hikka. The owner took her time and explained about the place, things we SHOULD do in Hikka with direction. Very very friendly staffs. Specially Isuru. Very polite and was there at door step. It was very clear that they are running this business for passion and not for money so are the employees. Including Gayan. Great location. Their backyard with beach is one of the most beautiful places to spend the evening with some wine and count stars. Could have been more hammocks at the back yard. Room are average, needed bit of painting and maintenance but worth the money spent. There’s so much potential in this place and they can do even better but felt, since they are not much into ‘commercializing’ this property, but doing it for the passion (at least that’s what we felt), they are not thinking of expansion but if they do, this place gonna get lots of tourists for sure!

We had a peaceful time there. Nice location. Beachfront hotel and easy accessible from main road. Clean room and very supportive staff. Worth for price. No meal provided by the property but plenty of food stalls are nearby.

Great hosts, great place and really quite the location hidden away in Hikkaduwa. If you're looking for some peace and quiet this is your go to. Location - It's located right next to Hikka Tranz. Walking distance of 4min by beach to Turtle Beach where you can see many turtles in the area. Hotel - Hotel itself is a Walawwa with multiple rooms with a variety of bedroom choices and outdoor area in the back filled with palm trees and lounge chairs. Very friendly staff who even offered us Thambili on the house. Accessibility - A number of restaurants available in the vicinity such as Moonlight, JHL which are all walking distance of not less than 100m. Price range - 12 Usd to 16 Usd (This is one of the most convenient places you'll find - so highly recommend)

The room was in excellent condition, with air conditioning, a lovely balcony that looks out onto the beach, and beautifully decorated. Radika and her family are absolutely lovely and were always looking to make sure our stay was the best it could be by giving us tips about the area and showing us the best places to visit. Roshan and Isuru couldn't have done more to help us, they were always offering us king coconut and advice on what to do and what we can see, which meant we saw places that we hadn't planned on visiting but would have missed out if we had skipped them. They also told us where to go to see and feed turtles on the beach nearby which was the most wonderful experience. The breakfast they made was delicious and we were always greeted with a smile and a chat! Looking forward to coming back to Curry Bowl again soon! Chloe

Good location and nice looking place with a friendly owner + caretaker guy. Room has AC and fan, a table and two racks to hang clothes which was quite useful. No TV or mini fridge in room but you can use the common kitchen fridge after checking with caretaker guy. Bathroom wasn't the best and was our main downside to the room. It's right next to turtle beach and a short walk toward hikka tranz will land you in a beach with huge turtles coming to shore to feed off seaweed which was a cool experience! This was the main reason why we booked this place :D All in all had a good time. I would definitely revisit if they could upgrade their bathrooms to make it a tad more presentable.

Great place to stay! The location was amazing, the staff were great and super accommodating. We were there for two nights. Highly recommend ! Simple but nice place just infront of the beach.
