If you read any of this review, please know that I'd highly recommend AVOIDING this venue at all costs. The main reason we went here was to try the rope swing. Note that there are several places nearby and along the coast that have rope swings -- so you have options. The place is a bit hard to find, but upon arrival we looked at the rope swing. The rope looks old and I'd question it's longevity (see pics), but because rope swings are a fun touristy things to do, we thought we'd give it a go. We were originally told it'd cost 500 Rs for us to try the swing 3 times each. Then when my wife was getting ready to try it, they doubled the price to 500 Rs each. After expressing concern about the price change the owner came out and said the prices was as it stands and they he set the rules. I then asked since the price was for 3 swings of we could divide up the swings. He got very angrey and very rudely said no it was against the rules that he set... The owner spoke fairly good English and in a very aggressive manner told us that he decided we couldn't use the swing and go find another one. I was honestly shocked because everyone I met in Sri Lanka has been so nice, helpful, and respectful. This man shouldn't be in the hospitality business and if he worked for me would be fired because of his actions. I then in a calm manner expressed how I was shocked and offended by his actions towards us and that this would be reflected in the review I write. Normally one would expert the owner to set a professional time for his staff... In this case since the experience was horrible you could say the worst of the owners traits have also been learned by his staff. I said we'd pay the rate he wanted, but he still refused and stormed off. I was still in shock at how childish this grown man was acting. Because I'm an active reviewer I began taking pictures so that I could share my experience with others and at least past pictures of what the venue looked like. He then started taking pictures of us and threatening us. We told him we didn't consent to him taking pictures of us and that he did not have permission to use them. We asked him to stop and delete the pictures, but he didn't. He then threatened us more and said how if we leave a bad review he'd to do whatever he wanted with the pictures he took of us and we'd regret it. I don't take kind to blackmail so I'm writing this review. You have a choice of where you stay and where you spend your money. Please skip this place and support another venue with kind hardworking people.

This place has only gotten better over the years. I have been travelling to Sri Lanka regularly since 2018, and the family are always so welcoming. I stay in the guesthouse which is right on the beach. The breakfast is healthy & delicious, and passionfruit mojitos are the best to enjoy the sunset views. The price for the swing has stayed the same since I first started staying here. Amazing to be consistent with their pricing even after the tough times. I can't wait for my next yearly holiday in 2024! ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿง‰

The owner is very rude and aggressive. We came to this swing in the morning at sunrise so when we came it was still very early and was no one there so we started using the swing. Suddenly the owner ran out of the hotel and started screaming and yanking my husband. He said we have to pay 500 rupees. It's not a lot of money and everything would be fine if he just said it kindly and didn't act like it. After all that, we didn't even want to pay these people anymore because swing is not worth it to financially support people like that.

In between Unawatuna and Delawella beach you find this hidden local and quiet place, with not many tourists, with such a nice vibe and nicest staff you can imagine in this busy area. I stopped buy one day just for a beer looking for a relaxing afternoon away from the Unawatuna crazinest and came back anytime I could since I felt very welcome and happy there. You are in a great location, yet it is not overcrowded like places around. Always smiling, always positive and welcoming. Thank you so much.

Astonishing place with a chill atmosphere. The beach is right in front of you, if you wanna have a time of your life, then enjoy the breeze at dream cabana bar. The guys are extremely friendly and positive. And donโ€™t forget to check the sunset here! P.s. you can see turtles here!

We dropped by to give the rope swing a go. Big shout-out to the lovely Ian who made sure that I conquered the rope swing properly. He also gave us a quick tour of the place and even showed us baby turtles the property was keeping safe. Must do when you're in the south!

Spent a great afternoon here. Nice family-owned place with sunbeds, good food and drinks. In the end of the afternoon, turtles come real close to the beach to eat the seaweed, which is really cool to see from the sunbeds.

To me this place has two sides: One, amazing food, good drinks, nice room (especially the ac) and very lovely staff. The other side: it starts already when having breakfast that tourists from other hotels come to try the rope whereas the ambience loses itโ€™s flair in my opinion. Second: unfortunately, they are throwing bread in the ocean to attract the turtles. Iโ€™m probably very different compared to other tourists regarding this topic but I canโ€™t stand it how people exploit animals for tourists/paying guests. There are lots of turtles, itโ€™s not even necessary to throw bread in the sea to attract them, youโ€™ll see them anyways. Furthermore, is it good for baby turtles to be touched by us tourists? On the first day they showed us baby turtles they keep and we were allowed to hold them. Of course itโ€™s an amazing experience, I love turtles too but Iโ€™m rather interested in their health than about having a baby turtle in my hands. As far as I know there is one rule: donโ€™t touch wild animals. What a pity.

Dream cabana is the essence of what I was looking for in Sri Lanka. For the first time I don't hear the road, I hear only ocean. Property hold by lovely family, who will make your stay awesome. Staying here for 3 days I already saw up to 50 little turtles to born, monkeys and iguana. Every day is very chilled. Food is very tasty and cooked by family. Swing is available any time. I enjoy every single second

Very good place with perfect view. Room was good with AC. Owners were very kind and suggest us a welcome drink. We used famous swing rope as much as we wanted. Breakfast was tasty. Also we said that we want to have surfing lessons so one of place owners - Banti arranged us tuktuk to the beach next morning and we had there surfing lessons with him. Great experience!

Great photo op! The guys who run this do their best so that everyone can enjoy it, regardless of mobility! Fair price and you get a couple of attempts- would recommend!

Very nice place to catch the sunset! The rope swing will get you awesome pictures. However I found that the beers there were quite expensive.

One rope swing over the ocean changed the tourism industry for an entire country. Is it clichรจ? Yes. Is it overpriced? Yes. Would I do it again? 100000x yes. This tiny little rustic cabana on the beach with a handful of old wooden deck chairs, a bar, a few rooms to stay in and a rope and a palm tree makes for a magical photograph to sum up a very unique island. Itโ€™s 500Rs to swing. The staff also keep hatchling turtles to release back into the ocean which they will happily show you.

The staff were friendly especially the ex military guy. Showed us some of the hatchling turtles they release into the sea and even let us do this. Wonderful. The dog Sandy is a shy one but friendly. Cocktails could be a bit better because alcohol is hard to find in them when you order more than one ;) The owner wasn't there when I went so I cannot unfortunately confirm what other say about him.
