Contacted them via WhatsApp and made the booking, they were very responsive and also sent details the day before on where to arrive etc.. the boat is extremely clean. We were served with breakfast, a Sri Lankan bun and in the afternoon we got watermelon! We saw dolphins, unfortunately couldnโ€™t see whales. They do mention during the booking that it is 50:50 chance to see whales. Overall the experience was good. Heads up to people with vehicle, parking is difficult so you need to go early!

Amazing trip. 7 of us- youngest 10yrs. Started at 6:30am and back by 10am. Boat was very clean, everyone had a life vest. They offered us plastic bags for sea sickness (which some of us needed- the staff were very helpful). Also offered sea sickness meds if you wanted. They brought sandwiches and freshly cut pineapple with bottles of water for those who wanted it, at the end for no extra charge. We saw 4 whales (in August- off season). We were lucky! The crew were very knowledgeable and were able to spot the whale activity very quickly. They kept a good distance away, too. Highly recommended. We were taken there by our superb driver Dudley de Silva.

    1. One of the larger, newer and cleaner boats at the harbour. 2. Very helpful and attentive crew. My daughter was seasick, and the crew was constantly providing us with plastic bags, tissue etc and generally just being there for us and helping us manage the situation. 3. They kept their distance from the whales and didn't get too close. 4. We started at 6.30 AM and were back at the harbour by 10.00 AM. Sandwiches were provided along with water bottles and freshly cut (literally cut in the boat) watermelon and pineapple. 5. We were very fortunate. Seven sightings in total, and two of them up close. 6. I understand that if whales can't be found right away then the boats sail for longer in search of whales and there have been a rare few days where they have returned at 12 PM with no sightings. These are wildlife tours - always go with the expectation that you may not see anything. 7. I would definitely recommend them as they seem to be running a very good operation and the boat is definitely much nicer than others at the harbour. Note: The whale watching season is October to March/April, when the water isn't rough and before the Southwest Monsoon begins. They do tours during the off season too but better try to go during the season.

We had a great time. The crew were thoroughly professional, attentive and respectful of the wildlife. We were provided breakfast & best of all, we had about 7 sightings of an adult blue whale! The crewโ€™s knowledge of the local wildlife was vital in getting the best experience possible - if you are looking for a trip to see whales at Mirissa, then this is the company for you!

The best way to do whale watching. They pick you up from your hotel, The crew speaks good English, doing all the best to make sure you'll see the whales from the best point of view, but at the Sametime without interrupting them!!! I really appreciated it! The only thing is that there was no coffee or tea or juice, it is hard in the early morning :-). Thank you.

We had a great experience whale watching with Kumara. We were picked up from our hotel on time and taken to the harbour to start our trip. The boat was new, clean, tidy with comfortable seats. The staff were all friendly & made sure we were all offered lifejackets & explained what to do if we felt seasick. We luckily saw a blue fin whale surface several times and Kumara and his team made sure we could see the whale in a safe and environmentally friendly way. We were given lots of information about the whale and ocean . We had food served on board which was nice. We would definitely recommend booking this team if your considering a whale watching trip! Fantastic experience.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We were a group of 4 friends who decided to go on a Whale watching tour through Kumara Whale Watching, on Dec 8th. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us and the trip was entirely comfortable. The crew ensured that there was plenty of water, sandwiches, seasickness tablets/bags and fresh fruits available for all passengers. They also took a lot of trouble to make the experience as enjoyable for us as it was unobtrusive for the whales. We spotted a few blue whales and a larger group of spinner dolphins. While the behavior of the animals and their sighting cannot be guaranteed, the crew did a great job of making the sightings as comfortable as possible. Weather was great all day, barring a minor drizzle just as we were returning to harbor. In total we spent about 45 minutes to an hour to get going from the harbor and the entire trip was about 4 hours long. After the tour, on our way back, the crew even walked around explaining the types of whales and dolphins that we saw during the tip, along with interesting information about these beautiful animals. Would also recommend that you check the weather and times that you are visiting for the best chance at a sighting. 10/10 would recommend. Do call and ensure you have tickets (reserve, if you can).

We booked via Whatsapp which was very easy. Boat leaves at 7am but ideally you are at the harbour by 6.15am. What we loved about it is that the crew, especially the leader, got us all excited about the possibility of seeing the whales and explained the process very well! We were so lucky to see several spouts/blows and saw 3 tails of blue whales diving into the water! It was an incredible experience to witness. They also provide sandwiches, fruit and water on board, and safety jackets. They are also recommended by Lonely Planet because they are friendly and kind to the whales. We also witnessed this during our trip. They keep a distance from the whales and do not chase them excessively. We concluded the trip early because we had seen enough blue whales - so we could let the whales do their thing :) Definitely recommend whale watching with Kumara. (Also known as Kumara and Whales).

I would have loved to say wow it was a fantastic experience bit it was not. It is not worth the price you pay. You go search for wales or dolphins instead of watching them. When you finally find one, fifteen seconds later is gone (without being so close). I didn't really enjoy. I want to mention that it was the case for all companies so I am underrating this activity.

๐Ÿณ MIRISSA - ๐Ÿณ Kumara & ๐Ÿณ Whales Watching - Whales Really positive experience with Kumara & The Whales ๐Ÿณ . Their boat is only 2 years old, it's really clean and doesn't pollute the waters as many of the older boats looked to do ๐Ÿณ . ๐Ÿณ They had excellent intuition on how to locate the whales ๐Ÿณ and we ended up being really close to a number of whales ๐Ÿณ without having to chase them (as I've read in reviews of other operators) ๐Ÿณ . ๐Ÿณ We were delighted with our trip as we got so close to the whales, it was really an experience of a lifetime ๐Ÿณ !! ๐Ÿณ Lots of refreshments and snacks on board. I had a touch of sea sickness and the staff were on hand with medication and a little bag !!!! They were very attentive ๐Ÿณ !! ๐Ÿณ 100% recommend Kumara & The Whales ๐Ÿณ !!! ๐Ÿณ whales๐Ÿณ Kumara ๐Ÿณ whales ๐Ÿณ

We had a great trip with this company. We saw a Blue whale up close within 45 minutes and although we didn't see others, we had plenty of time to view the one whale. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us. The boat was spacious and well-maintained with good viewing all around. There were good life-jackets on every seat and sea-sickness tablets offered if needed. The crew were friendly and really helped passengers to get a good view of the whale. They were respectful of the whale's space. There was a fresh sandwich and fruit and a drink provided. We noticed some other boats seemed quite crowded but we had plenty of space to move around. Recommend .

Hi Kumar, We thoroughly enjoyed our whale watching adventure with you. Your earnest enthusiasm set the scene for us just like you promised. Didnt think we would see so many dolphins and blue whales. We liked how you interacted with each group and helped us deal with sea sickness. Great knowledgeable crew and would totally recommend Kumar whale watching to one and all. Tina John

Great, clean and well-kept boat, very competent crew, who knew exactly how to react and what to do, also with respect to the animals in the sea. lifejackets for everyone and we were so lucky to see whales, which is not always the case. This is something no one van influence, so yes we are very happy. Dolphins several times as well. We were served several sandwiches, fresh fruit and were offered bottles of water. I can highly recommend this company!

Friendly staff and clean boats. Tour will last 3-3.5hrs. Staff will try their best to show you the Whales. If it's your lucky day, you'll see Whales 4-5 times on the tour. Don't expect to see the whole Whale jumping out of the water. You'll see their fins and breathing. Worth a visit.

It was my first experience of watching whales, and I can't say enough about what a great trip in the blue ocean Kumara and Crew put on. The crew and the boat were absolutely fantastic. We were able to see about five whales and a few dolphins. Yes, it was a safe and joyful journey. We were able to refresh with snacks and drinks while experiencing the beauty of the ocean, thanks to Kumara and the crew. The whole journey was about 3.5 hrs. Highly recommend the great service provided by Kumara and can't wait to have that experience again.

Had the most epic time on this tour , the boys where so pleasant to be around the whole day making sure everyone was tended to. The whales itself was insane completely smashed my initial intentions , if I had more time in Sri Lanka I would of done it again. All in all absolutly unreal!!

I really liked the Whale watching tour from Kumara. We saw different types of whales. If you come a bit earlier then you have the best place at the first floor. I highly recommend this organization
