I absolutely LOVED my cooking class with Karuna today. The process was clear, fun and the results were - honestly - among the tastiest dishes I have ever eaten, let alone cooked. Can not recommend this experience enough. Be sure to pack cash as you will want to stock up at the spice store, especially for the things that are tough to find at home (roasted curry powder, for instance).

Karuna really makes the cooking class an experience. The class starts with a trip to the vegetable market in Galle by tuktuk, followed by a stop at the fish market. She let's you choose the ingredients you want (with a little help of course!). Back in the small kitchen everyone participates in the preparations: make your own coconut milk, mix the spices, cut the veggies and of course help with the cooking itself. While you're doing that you also have to find time to write down the recipes if you want to be able to reproduce the fine meals later! When finally everything is done you sit down and have the best lunch you'll have in Sri Lanka!

We had a wonderful time during the cooking class today! We could choose for a fish, chicken or vegetarian meal. Visiting the market with Karuna was great to learn about the different vegetables available. The result was so delicious we ate way too much ;)

I had an incredible time learning from Koruna ! From our trip to the market to her insider pointers on a true Sri Lankan curry, nothing could have been any better ! And the incredible taste of the food at the end of our morning cooking session was just the cherry on top. If you are planning a trip through Sri Lanka and count on learning some local recipes, Koruna’s is the place to be ! Thanks again 🙏

Authentic cooking experience with wonderful local lady. Bubbly and fun morning that included a trip to the food markets and back to her kitchen to cook 6 delicious curries that we sat down to eat afterwords. Would definitely recommend

March 2017 I took a lesson with Karuna. I enjoyed it really well. We were 6 Czechs and 4 other Europeans which we didn't know, Make sure you have your phone charged to take pictures of the stages of cooking.

We have known Karuna for years. Her food and cooking experience is unforgettable. Karuna is a professional, she will teach you the ins and outs of Sri Lankan cuisine. Playful and friendly. What you cook, you eat :). I highly recommend it. Karuna is one of the chef recommended by Lonely planet.

Karuna’s cooking class was so fun! I loved learning from her. We made coconut milk from scratch plus six different curries which all turned out super flavorful and delicious. I appreciated that she let us choose between vegetarian, fish or chicken. This was the highlight of my time in Unawatuna for sure!

Highlight of my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Sonya was hilarious and wonderful. We learned how to cook 7 different curry's in 2 hours, visited the market and had a great laugh. I recommend this to everyone who goes to Sri Lanka. Sonya also arranged for some spices for me to take home which was fantastic. Thanks sonya!!

We had an amazing cooking class with Karuna! She is such a sweet person, you will have a lovely time and much fun. First, you go an buy the ingredients and then you prepare different currys (you can decide if spicy or not). Vegetarian and vegan is also possible. Totally recommend it if you want to experience authentic Sri Lankan food 😍

Did the cooking class today and can totally recommend it to everyone! Food was very good and the preparation together with her was fun as well. We cooked 4vegetarian currys and one with fish. Also did coconut roti. Cost was 3000Lkr per person.

We spent a great time! Shopping at the local market, and after a great cooking class. We made delicious curry with Karuna, who's very kind.

We‘ve had the cooking lesson with Karuna yesterday and it was great! At first we drove to a market and she answered all our questions about spices and the different vegetables. At the market we decided which curry’s we will cook. The lesson itself was also great because you really COOK the meals by yourself, not only watch her doing it. We also got a notebook where we could write down the recipes. We really recommend to do the cooking class with her! Thank you for the nice time :-)
