We stayed in Galawatta Beach Cabana for 4 nights, never feel so close to the ocean waves and turtles. We swim almost 2-3 times a day to the nature Pond just in front of our Cabana, you will see many big turtles visiting us in the Pond at noon and evening time, I think the time is related to high/ low tide.. The breakfast is brilliant, we order typical Sri Lanka breakfast every day, Hoppers with egg, Coconut roti, dar curry, coconut sambal, bananas pancake with chocolate, with either Lanka coffee or Cylon tea..yummy yummy! We also booked for one time lobster dinner, it was super! the lobster is so fresh and biiiggg... it only takes 10 minutes to Unawatuna town by tuk tuk, and 5 minutes walking to the popular big stone with coconut tree and fisherman's Ins spot. It's hard to express our great stay experience

Zero hospitality We a family with 1.5 year kid We rent a few days a sunbeds from this guys And once a day decided to go to his beds thru property And in this time they show who are they really is: 1. Guy in front said that we must pay for the road to the beach - buy ticket (just for the walk) 2. Than we said that we rent a sunbed - we go to the beach, this guy clap hands, like we are his dog or something 3. When we walk to the front of the beach, some women said that it’s her property, and we can’t go to the beach, even if we rent her sunbeds Zero tolerance, zero hospitality, i’m really confused with this place and with this people Never and nobody would’t recommend this place Buy property, rent sunbeds and hotel rooms, and block the entrance to the beach, even if you rent this sunbeds.. in 2020 it sounds crazy, awful and disappointing UPD: "The rule is if they eat or drink something or they rent one of our beach beds then they are welcome to enter. If people don’t tell don’t stop and just walk through" YOU ARE LIER – WHEN I WALK WITH MY FAMILY I TOLD THAT WE ARE GOING TO RENT SUNBED

Beautiful hotel, made of luxurious bungalows in the middle of the cocounuts palms forest, in front of the equally beautiful beach. The sound of the waves pampers you at night. Ideal temperature in February not too hot, and not wet. Dinner with fish, prawns, rice and curry and breakfast with papaya, pineapple, banana, toasted bread, eggs, butter and jam, the healthiest and most delicious food I have ever eaten, cooked and served with love.

I agree, the location is amazing! Perfect for families even with toddlers. The beach has a natural pool without a strong current and yes, turtles everywhere! The new very friendly manager ( from Montenegro) seems to be willing to make a change but unfortunately she is confronted with a terrible staff. Pro: - very nice cabanas! Clean, directly at the beach, nicely maintained. -Nice and friendly kitchen staff Con: - The security guy didn't want to let us in without even asking if we have a reservation. That's a way to welcome guests... - The guy standing next to him didn't want to help us the luggage. - to order something you have to all the way to the kitchen and even when the waiter saw me from far, they didn't bother... - I asked them to clean the dirty looking foot bath at the beach side entrance and they just said they will clean it tomorrow. By the end of our stay a lady came and we thout even talking to us, she gave us the bill. It have us really the impression of not being welcomed. - when checking out the guy offered us to bring us to Galle for an absolute overpriced offer. Again, not a very nice way to say good bye. The cabana it self would be five stars, unfortunately the staff downgraded this experiences to three.

.Fantastic cabanas right on the beach, with nice trees, fence to give you some seclusion from people.Beautiful cabanas, with space, big bed and bathroom,,lovely decking for sitting and relaxing and having breakfast, lunch, dinner or just our afternoon tea. Lovely grounds to sit in or walk around, private from the beach, sunbeds and an outside shower. The owners and staff are super nice and helpful

Word PARADISE is the best word that can use for description of GALAWATTA. Far from the noise, fast lifes, just nature and you ...along the coast and the sound of the ocean. some turtles just see you and pass gracefully on her way. Delicious food with very reasonable prices. The staff .... always at your service whatever you need. They take care of every detail. And Cabana, one intimate, quiet and very clean accommodation. In the morning you wake up after a strange bird or barking dogs but this just gives you security since animals are were there is warm and loving people...From the heart to all I recommend this paradise!!!

Had a wonderful experience at Galawatta. Best thing about this place is the staff, who went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. So friendly and genuinely care that you have a nice stay. The cabins are beautiful, really spacious and homely. Right by the ocean so you get a pure nature experience.. important to note that even during low season many people come to the beach during the day so it’s not very private (and sometimes loud). Also there is a disgusting habit of people coming to the beach and feeding and touching the sea turtles there, completely interfering in their natural habitat and potentially causing them harm. Obviously that has nothing to do with the resort, and please if you come and stay here don’t feed or touch the turtles!

We had a pleasent Stay and liked to come back some day. The little home is nice and well spotted near to the beach. The water ist crsital clear and the beach is clean. The stuff is friendly and speaks good English. Highlight are the giant turtles which can be seen every day from noon to the evening. For my opinion the price without breakfast is a little bit to high compared to other destinations in Sri Lanka. There for 4of5.

We loved the Galawatta beach cabanas - their location couldn’t be better, with the turtle beach right at your doorstep. You can actually see the turtles swimming from the terrace. The cabanas are spacious with lovely terraces and some beach area, which keeps a good amount of distance between you and the beach goers. We got all meals served on our terrace as well, which was really a treat. It is also a very rustic cabana design and I loved hearing the sounds of the waves as I fell asleep. A special thank you and mention to the staff as well, who are absolutely lovely and take wonderful care of the nature around them, ensuring the turtles are enjoyed in an animal-friendly way. Also a big thanks to the chef who made us several delicious feasts! The only thing I can say that’s not 100% positive is the noise from the train at some points, however it passes very infrequently and seems like a small price to pay for staying in such a wonderful places!

Amazing place, literally on the beach. You can see the turtles from your bungalow. I loved sleeping listening to the waves. The place also seems very private, not too many guests. So it feels like your own beach place. You can also have the breakfast at your own terrace. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The downside is that they don’t have AC (only fan) and because they don’t have windows, you get some undesired guests 😅 (bugs, spiders, ants or mosquitoes). But even like that, it was an unforgettable experience!

Amazing place at an amazing location, on one of the most beautiful beaches of Unawatuna. Beautiful sea view from the rooms. The staff was very friendly and kind. Recommend.

After spending two weeks in Sri Lanka I can easily say this was the best place we have been! The location is amazing, right in front of the beach. The stuff was even better! Everyone smiling and helping ☺️ Also I recommend to try the food there! We should have stayed there more! Bye bye Lalitha!

Location is incredible, right on the beach and has a great spot for swimming (next best is quite a walk away at Unawatuna, which is a busy and noisy tourist hub). We had breakfast on our balcony overlooking the beach every morning, and slept to the sound of waves. Best in the area if you ask me - and we walked a good few kilometers both ways. These are very rustic beach cabanas though. Suited the Sri Linkan experience!

Great beach restaurant with friendly staff, a hammock and good breakfast options 👌 From the restaurant, you have a secluded view of the beach and can easily hop down to see the sea turtles.

😠 If you read any of this review, please know that I'd highly recommend AVOIDING this venue at all costs. The main reason we went here was to try the rope swing. Note that there are several places nearby and along the coast that have rope swings -- so you have options. The place is a bit hard to fin...
