Great fishing. Rented decent poles and bought shrimp bait. Prices were very reasonable and locals were great company. Peir is open 24 hours which was awesome! Spent all day and night here and caught a BIG Bull Red!

My family of 5 had a great experience here. We purchased our entrance tickets off of Groupon. You park on the side of the road and walk to the pier !! They have rental fishing poles and plenty of bait. The lady at the register was very helpful !! We saw a few dolphins really close to shore. We caught a few fish… we released them back into the water though.

Had a great time with the family and my bff. First time the boys fish off a pier and it was great! I don't fish but I sure was waiting on the Game Warden to get a picture of her but she didn't go check for licenses that day..big fan of Lone Star Law...lol The pier is family friendly and the wristband is good for 24hours of fishing!!

First off this is not “just” a fishing pier. Theirs is the single best place in Galveston to play hooky on a Friday. The proprietors are awesome. Friendly people with an obvious love for the sea. Yeah, it’s a fishing pier and a bait shop but buy a couple local beers and some koozies and gain access to the upstairs level. They have a full bar with great service. The best selection of music for us over-40 folks. The cleanest bathrooms on the entire island. This is all on a large crows nest style balcony that overlooks the pier and the beach. Grab some cold adult beverages and sit next to the outer wrap-Around bar and watch the fisherman pull up their catches while seagulls and pelicans fly around and dive for their meals. You can even sea all the fishing boats, ships, and sailboats right off the coast. I’m told they have some great live music on the weekends but for us, this is our little hidden away hooky day location.

I'm not a fisherman by any means, so who would've thought that I would fall in love with this fishing pier. Lol The view from the observation deck is FABULOUS! Sunrise and sunset visits are an absolute must! Before the observation deck bar ope s, you do have to either pay $2 per person to go up or buy a minimum of $2 per person. I recommend getting a coffee, and going up to view the sunrise in the morning. The staff is amazingly friendly. The little shop is fabulous. We wondered through 3 different times and saw different thi gs each time. They have some of the best options and prices for beach essentials and souvenirs on the seawall. Check them out!

Good selection of drinks and snacks. Employees were polite and the observation deck is a relaxing place to sit and watch the waves.

I usually go in the morning on weekends. Seawall parking is free until 10 am. You can go up on the observation deck for the cost of a beverage at the entry. The ladies working at that time are very friendly and keep the place tidy. No obvious fishy smell inside that you would expect on a pier. The bathrooms upstairs are clean and air conditioned. It's nice to enjoy a morning watching the fisherman. Something of some type is usually being caught and you may see an occasional dolphin. The lower level is expensive to just watch but worth it if you fish.

Fun experience! Cdawg was kind and helpful. No big catches but even the little ones kept our kids' attention. It was hot but the ocean breeze was fantastic.

Went to hotel for 2 day robotics comp, Was locked out the hotel, and I didn't want to wake up our team mates, so we walked around so we didn't fall aleep, around 1. We walked in, and the service was amazing here, talker for over an hour about robot dancing humans. And his art, it looks amazing. He trusted us to take the art and pay back later. We were able to go to an ATM and get the money. When we came back with the money, he gave us dock access and let us fish, also thought about fishing. Later, around 5, he brought us a pizza and some water, when we got inside we gave him the money we had left because we felt bad eating for free.

I don't fish, but this has been my service dog's favorite place in the world for years. We sit up on the upper deck while I enjoy a few beers. Great view of the ocean and watching some great catches from those who do fish...

I've been here many years when I say it's changed for the better. Everyone is helpful and for 12 bucks for an adult, 12 and up, and 6 bucks for kids' 24-hour pass. Best bang for your buck if you want a place that has everything you need to fish and then some. They have bait, snack, and then some. Parts on the pier are shaded most of the day and they have wooden benches to sit down and relax. Come spend a day here, we loved it.

What a great place to fish. Being an out of Towner, we were not sure what to expect. The fishing was fantastic. We caught a lot of little catfish, which was fun. Make sure to keep an eye on your bait, the birds are relentless.

Beautiful place to stop and see the sunset on Galveston Island. Had a lot of people fishing off the docks but still plenty of parking room and places to stand on the pier. Felt safe and well lit. Scenic area with lots to do nearby. Highly recommend!

Lots of fun, constant bites. Got our tickets on groupon, $23 for 2 people plus 1lb of bait. The Employees are awesome. We caught a stingray, croaker, 2 different kinds of catfish. Also watched a 24in blacktip shark and a 34in redfish get reeled in.

We are visiting from Michigan and all my boys want to do is fish. Everyone here has been being amazing and incredibly friendly! If you’re into fishing at all you must come here while you’re in Galveston. Ross, Casey, Mae and C Dawg have been very helpful and patient with my boys.

I’ve been here before. Love it. Yes I agree with others, WISH THE PIER WAS BIGGER. In my photo, same one way same the other way. We’re here in the middle of the pier so yes not too big.

Always a fun affair visiting the beach. Long stretch of wave-lapped sandy beach backed by a promenade lined with restaurants & condos. It would be nicer if the water is cleaner

Fun afternoon spot. Upstairs bar looking over the fishing pier over cocktails. Watched many large fish caught by the many people fishing. Bartender upstairs was very busy and didn’t really engage but knew their way around a mix.

Great spot to fish, deeper water towards the end of the pier. You have to get there early to get the best spot. Staff who operate the pier are super friendly!

i met a gatekeeper by the name of SeaDog, the Sea has gates too ya know, much more peaceful to be turned around at the Sea, by the Sea you see? Bright beacon in a glowing green sea, rhythmic oscillation, this light does hum; 61st pier, where SeaDog Stands Near, to keep the gate safe as it may appear, this old SeaDog did not even smell, not even of the expected rum. we will see about this sunrise, and perhaps, see it from here, maybe not tho, "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"

Pretty chill fishing spot …they practically got everything you need to fish …only thing is that it is crowded lines kept getting tangled with others … saw some big fish come out and lots of crabs …my son enjoyed himself tho

  • 5/5 Melissa M. 1 year ago on Google
My boys and I fish 61st every time we come home to visit. After years of asking, my son finally convinced me to go out overnight and they had to drag me off the pier in the wee hours of the morning. Thanks to staff, Chris T., for the wonderful hospitality! I can hardly wait for next time.
