VERY good museum! Show/tell everything you ever wanted to know about offshore drilling! And it all takes place on an actual former drilling rig! Plan on at least between 1-2 hours. Well worth your time.

This museum was very interesting and educational, especially as relates to the crucial importance petroleum products play in our daily lives. It’s not really a mock-up of a working rig with all of the actual interior spaces (as I was expecting) but I did learn a lot about the geology and drilling techniques. The admission fees are very reasonable. For those who care (for some inexplicable reason) it is not CHL friendly. Texas has a convoluted set of enforced signage laws so know before you go.

Very informative museum. We took our 13-year old twin girls. One enjoyed it, one did not. They completed the children’s information scavenger hunt book and learned more than they would have just waking through. It’s three floors full of information and models. We spent about an hour and a half meandering through. Good field trip if you're in Galveston.

It is a super interesting place. I had no idea of the technis and technology that the oil and gas industry came up with. I liked all the miniature models. The only thing is that the place actually smells like oil; by the end of the tour I was starting to feel kind of dizzy. Overall very interesting and informative.

Pretty decent museum, could use some updates to technical information and photos of current rig operations. Hourly parking nearby would be nice. You definitely need more than an hour to read everything. Will be back

The good: Very informative . Good info on oil offshore business. Loved all the videos and miniatures. If you are disabled there is a working elevator so that was definitely a plus. The bad: Unfortunately the birds had gotten to the outside of the facility and very gross. Muggy on the inside and stinks.

An excellent place to learn about oil extraction and offshore research, as well as its tools for drilling, it has an audiovisual room, the museum is three stories high and outside there was no access to go up to the helipad.

Fantastic stop Very well priced at 10$ Very educational, I come from the oil field and learned a lot about off shore drilling Definitely one of my favorite stops in Galveston it’s great for the whole family And the gift shop has unique items for the oilfield that you do not see in many places A lot of history and cut-aways with extensive explanations of how things work.

A fun and educational place for adults and kids. You'll be surprised that crude oil isn't just sitting. It's being manufactured by nature over 100's of years. Some of the rigs out at sea are standing on platforms as tall as the empire state building. The museum could use some updating (and a little marketing and programming would bring up attendance) but we enjoyed.

For those in the industry, a great educational tool to show your kids the biz. Surprisingly has a good amount of visitors. There’s 3 levels and a 15 minute video. Two outdoor levels to visit. Parking is $16 in adjacent lot. $2.25/hour on the street.

This is a great way to learn about the oil & gas industry and how we get dril for oil and gas off shore. It explains a lot of the process and how it gets to shore. It shows you products that are made from oil & gas that we would not have without industry.

Wow, I had no idea that offshore oil drilling was so incredibly complex! The engineering required to drill at the bottom of the ocean is mind-blowing!! This museum will teach more than you ever wanted to know about offshore drilling. Now that I have at least a partial understanding of how difficult it is to bring oil to the surface, I guess I can't complain about gas prices anymore :-)

Wow, such amazing information, especially for someone that knows about nothing when it comes to how oil is brought up. Loved it.

A small, interesting and educational museum, which provides insight into the oil drilling rigs. It has some mock-ups , video tutorials and charts to explain equipment , machinery used in the real world drilling and oil mining. It is a quick tour museum which is nice to experience place for people interested in oceans, mining and huge machinery. This place provides information about the past, evolution of the process, time and complexity involved in it. Don’t expect too much, rather a quick exposure to the above mentioned.

A really educational and interesting museum! Three floors of information, a 15 minute video available to describe all procedures on oil and petroleum production and mainly the drilling, interactive features, real equipment to touch, audio descriptions of the museum, pictures of the real plant when in use years ago, self pace tour, highly recommended!

This decommissioned jack up rig is a converted museum offering a replete look at the world of offshore drilling. If you may try to read every bit of information allow for several hours, but even a few minutes spent there and you will come away having learned something. All the displays are quite informative and detailed. Speaking of info... the nearby parking is not cheap if you use the adjacent lots.

Cool museum, you go at your own pace, so when you get bored you can move along and not wait for your guide. This museum really does a good job at explaining and illustrating the way oil rigs work. There are many large scale models of modern day rigs. They explain the history, science and way of life on the rigs. Prices are very cheap, $10 for adults, $6 for under 18. The place can use a bit of updating, it looks a bit used. Staff was very kind.

We had a good time exploring the museum. It has 3 air conditioned levels with many educational exhibits, and some interesting outside exhibits. You can also see the Battleship Texas in drydock from the rig.

An unexpected museum trip turned into a fun and educational day. Tons to look at, not just the rig but the history behind it, the tools, the designs, the people and the experience. It’s amazingly clean and there are a lot of different things to learn about and see which ended up being way more interesting than I was hoping for even. The staff was amazing and super helpful, always with a smile. It was a wonderful time
