We visited this La Quinta Inn before boarding a cruise vacation. I would highly recommend that if you are staying in Galveston, give this location a try, we did and are very glad of it. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. Due to staffing and safety issues, they are not entering the room while you are there. If you need new towels, simply leave them outside your door and they will be replaced. This is a very nice arrangement for both guests and staff. I really hope more hotels run with this idea. The front staff and managers were always there to answer any questions and assist with anything we needed. This is where we will be staying on our next vacation to Galveston.

Had reservations already paid for. One night. Drove 2 hours to this location. Older man at the front desk started to check me in. Had my 3 Teen boys next to me. As he charged my card, I asked questions about my reservation (basic questions just trying to confirm what I paid online is what will be charged). He repeated his response 4 times regarding a $10 incident charge, I stopped him and said, I do understand what you’re saying and I’m not questioning the $10, but rather the entire charge for my stay. Then He said…I don’t have to check you in and cancelled my reservation without me agreeing to it. He started talking over me and basically left us there with no room. I asked to speak with someone else and he responded rudely Why? Then I said I’d like to speak with a mgr. He said he WAS the manager. He also did not give me his name and I asked multiple times. Scrambled and an hour later, found another hotel. If this is the type of managers that run this establishment, I’m surprised they’re still in business. It could also be discrimination against my age? My race? Not sure, but from the first word out of his mouth, he was rude. I have filed a complaint, I have a case number and I will chase this down until it reaches corporate. This man doesn’t not need to work directly with customers. How can you cancel someone’s reservation because you have the power behind the computer screen? Or because YOU decided you don’t like them? I wasn’t rude, and I asked legitimate questions regarding my credit card charges.

We had a great experience with this hotel. The building was gorgeous and it only got more breathtaking when you walked in. It was very clean and smelt amazing. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The amenities were great too! The room was extremely huge and clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. It has been one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Very quiet and in a great location just write by the seawall.

The bed was freshly made & breakfast was decent. However, Our room and bathroom was very dusty and could tell hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a while. The tv stand/dresser was full of ants. All of our bags and luggage we sat there was also full of ants by morning. When we called the front desk to let her know she sent someone up to take a look. The guy said it was definitely ants and the previous guests must’ve left food that caused ants. The lady at the front desk responded “It’s just a few ants.” We weren’t compensated at all. Didn’t want to go back and forth with the lady. Won’t stay here ever again and won’t advise any of my friends and family too stay here either.

Don't get me wrong. This is a well kept hotel. My only complaint is as follows. We checked in Saturday late..It might have actually been a bit past midnight as we traveled from Arkansas. On Monday I arrived back with my service dog at around 5:30 pm. The man at the desk told me no pets were allowed on the property. I explained that I checked in with my service dog on Saturday and had no problems. He asked for me to give my full name and room number. I told him again that I checked in Saturday and showed him my card. He ignored my response and asked for my name and room number again. I was hesitant to give it out because he was speaking to me loudly across the lobby where other guests could hear. I didn't want to give my information out with a bunch of guests in the lobby, especially my room number. However, to avoid conflict I did so. He plugged me into the computer and said that the original desk clerk didn't check me in with a service dog. I told him well that is not my problem. Can I go on my way now. He didn't answer so I just proceeded to my room. I think this La Quinta Inn needs to do a better job addressing how this particular employee deals with guests with service animals. I found the entire incident embarrassing and harassing...

My family and I spent 3 nights here and our stay was wonderful! Great staff, very clean and quiet. Free breakfast is a plus! (Which is also very good). The pool is nice and clean as well. This hotel is literally walking distance from everything! Loved it so much, we will be back again!

Unfriendly staff and unclean rooms. When we first arrived we were given a key to our room and were greeted warmly. After going to our room things changed. Room was filthy, tables dirty, stained sheets, trash like a half empty water bottle and sandwich wrapper laying around. Obviously not touched by cleaning staff. Staff offered a new room but the other two they showed us were even dirtier. We ended up having to clean our room ourselves and ask for new sheets TWICE! After that, hotel staff seemed to have it out for us. Every time I would ask for new towels or some other request we were harassed. “How many people do you even have staying up in your room? 6?” It was me, my wife, baby and daughter. It seemed like they were trying to get us in trouble. Even “why do you want your room cleaned? We don’t offer that for people staying only 2 nights” (we were staying for 3). We even invited some of our family who were staying in another hotel across the street to come sit in our room and use the pool while we got ready to go out with them. They were stopped and threatened with removal and our reservation being revoked. Didn’t realize we weren’t allowed to have guest come visit. Even when my wife and I and our infant son and our daughter walked in and went to the pool, we were followed by the front desk staff as soon as we passed. We were then accused of propping open the pool door for whatever reason and told not to be wet when we came back into the hotel. My daughter felt very nervous even walking by the front desk anymore because she felt like they were “stalking us” (her words not mine). Immediate hostile environment from the staff. Nice pool and breakfast though.

I was coming to Galveston for business and wanted to be able to sleep and work. Upon arrival, I was booked on the top floor and unfortunately a room that was next to the elevators. When I went to let them know that this would not work for me, the owner, Sam, took over, filled a goody bag for me, and made sure that I was moved to a room at the end of the hall with a beautiful view of the bay. He walked me up to my room, checked it for me and told me to get some rest and take care of myself. He was extremely nice and accommodating. The hotel has easy access to the highway and away from the heavy traffic of the seawall. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Best of all, the black out screens in the room allow for sleeping during the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

If I could give a negative zero I would. The front desk clerk an older gentleman had no customer service skills. He was rude even calling a member of my party retarded. We asked to speak to the supervisor he asked why and then proceeded to threaten to call the cops on me even though he is the one that did the name calling. He then threatened to cancel my reservation. Another man showed up who never identified himself he was advised what was said he did not seem to be bothered at all that this employee was so disrespectful. Not only disrespectful employee but the hall carpet smelled moldy. They need to fire their desk clerks and management and hire people with better customer service skills.

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. One of the hotel employees was extremely disrespectful and rude towards me during my stay. I was shocked by the level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic customer service skills displayed by this individual. Not only did they fail to address my concerns and requests, but they also made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was clear to me that this employee had no interest in providing a positive experience for guests. Furthermore, the room I was given was not clean and had a strong smell of mold. The amenities were outdated and in poor condition. Overall, my stay was a disappointing and unsatisfactory one. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The disrespectful behavior of the employee I encountered is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the hotel's management and staff.

The room we stayed in was so nice! Big walk-in shower and big TV. Loved the chaise lounge with side table. Having the computer and printer in the lobby was very convenient for travel documents. They also offer ice cream and other snacks which I thought was neat. Would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous, clean hotel in a very nice area, within walking distance of the seawall. Everything was perfect --- spacious, clean room, comfortable bed, pretty good continental breakfast. Pool looked tempting too but didn't have time. The only complaint I have is that it is very baffling to try to figure out how to get to the hotel, as it's in the middle of a bunch of buildings with private drives. Our Lyft driver had to spend twenty minutes driving around the block trying to figure it out. Need better signs!

Disappointed. We have stayed at the property many times because of the service and quality of the hotel. This trip was not up to par. Hallways and common areas were scattered with debris and trash, the staff had attitude and a care less attitude. The AC in the room was not adequate and did not keep the room cool only humid and warm. Asked for a room near the elevator, was told that it would be and was given a room furthest from the elevator. The TV did not work, the remote was wet inside, took it to the front desk (couldn't call because the phone also did not work). The gentleman at the desk just had the attitude if what do you expect, but he did give us a new remote. The hallway on the 3rd floor had a stale/wet odor. Just not the clean, friendly atmosphere we have experienced in the past. For the price we paid, honestly expected better service.

This place is wonderful. The staff was all amazing. We checked into another hotel that was less than a dump. We came to the La Quinta and they were able to get us a room at discount price for two nights. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. The pool was perfect.

Bed bugs. Bed bugs. Bed bugs. I am a seasoned traveler and have never at any time slept in a bed with bugs. Until now. Just checked out of this hotel yesterday and started to head back home after a wonderful mini vacation in Galveston. Within an hour the skin on my upper chest was itching and burning. I thought I had broken out in hives until I looked in the mirror and saw groups of multiple red bumps. I had to look up bed bugs because I have never been bitten by them before and yep. Bed bugs. We stayed in room 317 on the dates of 4/30-5/2/2023. This is a public service announcement for anyone who may end up in that room and in that bed. You'll have unwelcome company. Aside from that, the hotel seemed to be clean with a nice and welcoming contemporary style. The guy at the front desk was pretty lacking in social skills but hey, whatever. But it's the bed bugs. That was absolutely inexcusable and horrible.

This is BY FAR my favorite place to stay when I visit Galveston. I've stay here multiples times and plan to stay many more. Cristos ALWAYS takes really good car of us and is very kind. I love how the pool is not on the seawall, but a bit secluded. I love how easy it is to walk to the beach. I LOVE the price! This is definitely a go-to spot for anytime I stay in Galveston. The only con is the breakfast isn't the best. But it's not a problem because I prefer eating breakfast at Sunflower Cafe anyway! I highly recommend this hotel.

I booked this hotel for a one night stay and could not regret my decision anymore (so much I never even stayed in the reserved room). Upon walking in, the hotel smelled of cigarette smoke and wet clothes. Weren’t greeted by the lady working, walked up and asked if we could check in early by any chance (not an odd thing to ask) and was told no. We asked if we could use the pool until our room was ready (told no because a room key is needed, no one was at the pool so it would have been nice to just allow us to lounge there). The “bar” had a hand written note saying the bar wasn’t going to be open. Bathroom was disgusting in lobby area so after these red flags we left and went and got another room in a MUCH better location and much friendlier hotel staff. Update 9/20 - called to see about getting any of my money back and the hotel claimed I checked in, with a DOG when we did not have a dog with us at all nor did we stay. Highly disappointed and will never book with Wyndham property again.

I would love to leave a great review as my family's go-to is this LaQuinta on 63rd street. But this time, I am uncertain as to why the older gentleman, Christoph, whom I have seen there many times was belligerent at me. When I arrived, I asked if there was a top floor due to my child's disability with noise. But he could only offer us 3rd floor, which was fine, I only thought to ask as I have on many occasions. But our beds were grinding with metallic, loud squeaking as soon as I sat on it. So I ask him for another room and then he looked annoyed and said he will get maintenance. I thought about it and went back downstairs wanting another room, for I have not even settled my luggage down in the room. I was firm about just changing rooms as I know it is something a customer can ask if done early. Then he yelled and said that I am requesting to change rooms too many times, talked over me and called me crazy and said I was pointing at him (I was showing him my room cards to change out). He said to get out and as far as my child with disability, "we all have problems, not dealing with yours" when I tried to ask him lets figure something out because this hotel is where she is used to going. Plus, I just drove 7 hours, exhausted, and did not know where to go and still needed to plan out my evening. Fortunately we got another hotel, but I felt aggressively attacked for asking for a better room to resolve my issue. The look on his angry face, it was absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. He said he spoke to the owner and refunded me and told me to leave. It was a horrendous experience to be treated like that. I never knew a person could be that cruel, let alone a front person for this hotel. But it looked like he was in charge and threw his weight around.

Extremely disappointing. But let’s start with the good shall we? We went for my wife’s birthday (the week of August 14th) so kids were in school, and it was quiet. We had a great view, we could see the sea wall from our window. We were walking distance, I’d say about a 2-3 minute walk from the sea wall, as well as places for dining and refreshments. Breakfast was surprisingly good, and the breakfast changes with each day, so there was a great variety of food. We went to a La Quinta in San Antonio once and loved it so much we decided to stay with La Quinta each time, but I’d avoid this one. The guy up front was nonchalant, and quite frankly could care less about being there based on his body language. If you look at the pictures, when we went into our room, room service hadn’t done a thing seemed like. There was dirt, hair, and bugs in our sheets. The complimentary coffee cups had obviously been used. The faucet, just by lifting the handle to turn the water on, it was if the entire faucet was going to fall off! I went down to the front desk to talk to the guy about how dirty the room was, and he went and got me more sheets, and pillowcases. When I asked about the team who cleans, he quickly told me “they’ve went home for the day”. And when my wife asked for more towels he rolled his eyes, sighed, and went to get us some. Even when my wife wiped down the door knobs, and nightstand they were filthy. Luckily we had wipes. Housekeeping will avoid your room if you haven’t checked out. You’re on your own till it’s time to check out if the trash needs to be changed or any other help you may need. If you decide to stay here, CHECK YOUR ROOM BEFORE YOU SETTLE IN. I wish I had read more reviews on this place. And avoid the heavy set guy up front with the glasses. He’s a professional in rudeness. :)

Check in was very smooth and nice. The room smelled like mold when we walked in. The air conditioner fan would bang and rattle all night long when it turned off and on. Tried to address it at the front desk but HE would not give their attention for me to tell them about it. He was to focused on his computer. It was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone if you like to get good sleep.

Strong mildew odor in both rooms we were assigned. Thermostat didn’t work in one room. They must have had a flood. Good location one block off the Seawall so no traffic noise. Beds weren’t great, squeaky base. Spills not wiped off of side tables. Parking lot well lit at night. Walking distance to Seawall and restaurant.

Spacious room with nice bathroom. Facility is new and clean. Standard breakfast they had breads, bagels and 2 waffle makers. Hot food included sausages and eggs. My daughters loved the waffles and I loved the French roast coffee. There was a minor issue with bed frames, they made squeaky sound when tossing and turning, kind of scared my daughters a little. Also the position of the fridge is not easily accessible, it’s right by the bathroom door. This was our 2nd time staying here, overall it was a good experience.

Our AC was broken for most of our stay. We called the hotel because it was freezing in the room and they said they could not do anything and did not offer a change of room or anything helpful. The concierge who checked us out told us he would get us a refund. A few days later, we followed up with them and they denied that they offered this refund. Do not stay here!

It was a very nice looking hotel. A few minute walk to the beach. It just has a few problems. The person that check us in was a little rude, he rushed me through everything. I had no idea what he had said. Then went to the room. Nice till you had to use the restroom. The toilet wasn't even bolted to the floor correctly I guess. When my 12 yr old went to use it, she alsmost fell over with the toilet. Then no towels and the shower had a film on it. There were child that ran all night upstairs from us. So, no sleep. The problem o have it when I said something about the toilet they made it out to be nothing and just wrote it in a book. Ma'am, if my child would have been hurt or anyone of us. It would have been good. That's a toilet.

I would give it less than 10 stars, we went to spend the long weekend for labor day and we had to be bitten by bugs in our children's beds and ours. It has been the worst experience in hotel stays. It needs more cleaning and maintenance I do not recommend it.

  • 1/5 Jamie M. 1 year ago on Google
This place is horrible. The smell is disgusting all throughout the hotel. Restrooms are gross. Floor is not mopped or swept. Sheets were dirty. And front desk person responded with “this is not a 5 star hotel this is a regular hotel” Guy in the daytime was super rude as well. He did not let us check in a bit early even though we had a major conference to get ready for. Complete heartless people do not give them your money. TRUST the reviews ! If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

Very clean. Hotel sheets were obviously in great condition. The shower didn't have the greatest pressure and could have been better. Shower head wasn't that great either but other than that a great room. As for the noise, we did have a lot of problems the last night there with noises from other rooms around us as well as being right near the elevator. So we were woken up multiple times by people hollering in the hallway. So be aware of that. Breakfast was absolutely great. They had different flavored waffles that you could choose from as well as your classic hotel breakfast items such as eggs, biscuits and toast. I wish they would have had some tea though there was no tea available for purchase or to have with the complimentary breakfast in the morning. But other than that I highly recommend this hotel. The location is great. Easy walk to the sea wall. There's a bar nearby as well and you're near Golden corrales. You're one of those people that actually like Golden corral 🤣

Almost everything about my stay was great. The bed was beyond comfortable. My room was enormous. The breakfast was good. Nice waffles. The bad, I was in room 201 and I believe they were bowling all night above me. I could hear every step. It was awful. Other than that I'd give it a 5th star.

The room where we stayed was not clean and it stinks. The smell is not only in our room but the whole 4th floor smells like dirty socks, it’s gross. Our room is dusty, the floors doesn’t look it’s been mop, sweep nor vacuum. We stayed for 2 nights and we don’t have the do not disturb sign on our door and no housekeeping come to clean our room. I had to wipe the tables with disinfecting wipes because I feel grossed out. There were lots of ants also and when we first check in there’s hair by the vanity in the bathroom also. The pool is clean and they offer good choices for breakfast!
