😠 This is a joke of a hospital. I wouldn’t wish this place on anyone. The doctors, RNs, etc. are a joke and do not care about patients. I was left screaming in pain while the RNs on L&D giggled in the huddle. IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, GO ANYWHERE ELSE. People often mention baby, nurse, pain, hospital, care, UTMB, asked, time,

The surgeon, doctor's, nurse's, transport for testing, food and even the cleaning crew all made my Mom's 6 night stay better than we could have imagined under the circumstances! Thanks to Dr. Cho for going above and beyond his call of duty on the floor and to Dr. Fumka for doing such an amazing job with my Mom during surgery and explaining everything to us on our level. Oh and the cafeteria food you order as a guest tray is amazing food! Our view of the Gulf was also beautiful and the room was spacious! Thank you UTMB!

Make sure you validate your ticket. It would have been nice to know what was wrong with my leg. No one could tell me that. My primary care doctor helped me a lot. I got a shot to help with the pain and he gave me a muscle relaxer which really helped my leg stretch out more so I was finally able to wear shoes again. He even referred me to Ortho and Ortho was able to fit me in their schedule the next day. Ortho was useless though. The overall energy was very socialable, moreso amongst themselves than with us the actual patients. Overall, it was like I was at a... You'll never guess it... a university. Lol. I would recommend this place. They seem very efficient. They try their best to get you out with quality care so you can get your medicine and go back to work.

BLACK WOMEN, don’t have your baby at this hospital. I had an awful experience with this hospital and even UTMB clinic. First let me start off by saying I was pre diabetic and nothing was done for me I did not find out until after I had my baby, I developed eczema my last trimester nothing was done. Had my baby all the way in gavelston because UTMB made it seem like I could only deliver here. I was definitely treated unfair and unfortunately so was my baby, the nurse who did the iv did it wrong, I tried telling them I was in so much pain, my arm was swelling and something wasn’t right at that moment I begin to cry , I was scared I would die if they were being this careless. The Indian nurse or doctor said I was overreacting and laughed in my face. The nurse on the next shift came and corrected it, she also confirmed that it was indeed done wrong. My baby was stuck for the same procedure twice ( unorganized ), but this time this old white doctor did it and was very rough with her, literally trying to cause pain to her and made her cry, stuck her at least 5 times , the first lady who did it was gentle , stuck her once or twice and she didn’t not cry at all. At the time I couldn’t intervene bc I had gotten news that my dad had a bad accident and I was on the phone trying to get info. Also you have no privacy , and you’re basically a guinea pig. The lady who did my ultra sound at UTMB in Stafford was so rude!!!!! I’m sure she is rude to all black women , you can just tell. The staff there really didn’t care. My experience was a nightmare and I couldn’t wait to leave, never went back to UTMB clinic either and I hate my baby was even born there. They also tried to keep me a whole week, I was walking right after I had my baby literally 45 minutes later. Only reason they let me leave was because my dad was in a serious accident. That place sucks!! I hope I help the next black woman thinking about going there, I was lucky to get out alive you might not be.

Wound up in the ED with an upper respiratory issue. Have spent time in many hospitals for this issue over the years, some years up to 3 times a year with pneumonia. Anyway, admitted into Jennie Sealy 10th floor. I want to start with the residents, PCA's, and Respiratory Therapists. They were all wonderful and seemed happy to be serving. I was also 'assigned' to a Dr, but not a pulmonologist. I have a pulmonologist who normally handles my lung issues, but he practices in Sugar Land. Only saw the Hospitalist once, and they basically stood back while they (residents) asked me questions. They never even listened to my lungs that I recall. Can't believe I didn't see a Pulmonologist considering the lifelong lung issues I have. While waiting to be discharged, there were still issues with heart rate elevating with little to no exertion (120+bpm)and dropping O2 levels. Nurse asked if I would like to see the Doctor and speak with them. I replied I did. Doctor never talked to me. They had the PCA check my blood pressure lying down instead of sitting. BP resting had read 166/115. The nurse kept asking if I was anxious, nervous, etc. No. A few more readings in that general area... The doctor didn't talk to me...didn't ask about O2, she just told the PCA 'Perfect.' That was it. I also have serious doubts as to whether the Doctor fully reviewed my records, which reflect most of the treatment I have received over the past 10+ years. THEN, the nurse had the audacity to ask if I was going to walk down to my car. I asked if they had transport. She went ahead and called someone. When she arrived, parked outside the room and just stared at me. Rolled me down to the lobby, locked the wheels, and by the time I stood up and turned around, she was out of siteI Have a heart procedure scheduled in a month at this hospital, and I believe I will cancel it immediately. No communication whatsoever. Only way I was aware of any testing results was through the phone app.

I understand the frustration with this facility. I’ve NEVER a had this many problems with a place before. Trying to get someone on the phone and questions answered is like pulling teeth. They transfer you around till you just give up and hang up. And the people here are so disrespectful, they will not even let you finish your sentence they just talk over you and transfer you, just to get you off the phone. I was transferred to a facility that wasn’t even near me ? So I had to call back and wait another 30 minutes to get someone on the phone. Please and thank you, even a smile goes along way. I’ve been in the healthcare field along time, and it’s really sad to see how they treat people. I do not recommend this place at all, there are plenty of places to go where you will be taken care of where they actually care. And this review is not based on just one encounter this is years of dealing with this facility.

The DCLS program has been very disappointing. Senior level students having to repeat classes & curriculum multiple times in order to meet research needs of this facility versus receiving the education/guidance to complete required courses they are seeking by in enrolling in said program to obtain PhD.

If sanctioning Professor Joy Alonzo for criticism of the ineffective state policies regarding opioids tells us anything about the UTMB, it is the fact that the spineless leaders of this institution have no concept of academic freedom, freedom of speech or even basic understanding of opioid crisis in U.S. As a retired physician, I would not advise a colleague to work with this fraternity of good old politicians trapped in the body of the healthcare leaders.

The nursing program here sucks! It used to be a great school to attend for nurses but this school has now become a money grabbing scheme. All the want is students to fail so that they have to retake classes and pay again! Nursing school is thought but you have so many students failing that should definitely be a red flag! UTMB is no longer the dream school people want to attend!

Went in for a back surgery, first issue was when they put in my IV it started spurting a large amount of blood which caused my nurse to panic, not only that, they wound up moving my IV to another vein anyway. From there everything about the surgery was fine. The treatment after my surgery however was deplorable. The doctor gave the ok to release me shortly after I woke up, but the hospital FORGOT I was there for several hours. When my mom asked the nurse if we could leave the nurse was shocked we were still there and said they'd get someone to wheel me out in a minute. Another hour later I gave up and walked myself across the hospital in crippling pain with not a single staff member showing any concern. Overall I'm glad to have made it out, there's no telling how many mistakes may have been made while I was unconscious, and I hope I never know.

Literally just left . I came in due to severe pain in my side (the ambulance believed it to be kidney stones) they Literally took me in the lobby and made me sit in a recliner chair saying they had no beds . I'm like I can't sit . I was in there crying tears running down my eyes and they just put me in the lobby like I wasn't nothing. Then I Literally watched 3 people go to the back . Yet they said there was no beds . The people that they took dint come in the ambulance and wasn't screaming in pain , but I was . Yet I was nade to sit in the lobby .needless to say I came home atleast at home I can be comfortable while I'm in pain and once my appendix burst or these stones get to bad and im screaming in their hospital at the top of my lungs then they will possibly want to F help me . Sad I Literally have to come home and be in pain because UTMB would not help me.....also according to them a lady was having a baby that's why there wasn't any beds 😕 huh!? Made no mfkn sense none....

Wife has rare "conditions", probably over diagnosed, however we were told medical science doesn't have an answer for her. Very unprofessional and forces her to suffer longer and risk her life due to incompetent and inconsiderate staff. If your loaded, you can afford good healthcare and treatment anywhere, but you have medicaid/medicare, then they do the bare minimum to keep you ill. We unfortunately can't escape this anymore due to advanced neuropathy and gastroparesis...over diagnosed, misdiagnosed, mistreated, and disrespected...she most assuredly has a case and will persue in the near future.

You guys suck seriously. Greedy and unprofessional - you put my sister's health at risk and demended money from her when she had none. Shame on you. Your motto should be greed over patients care. Y'all are disgusting!

The absolutely worst! Wait times are hours! You would think we live in a third world country. Staff is very unprofessional (ones we came in contact with) for the most part. If you want to get things done quickly you have to cause a scene. Without that you’ll be in the lobby for 2-3hrs at a time. If you can avoid this and go somewhere else please do it’s not worth the stress.

Came to the emergency room for a check on our infant. We specifically asked for an MD and they sent in a NP. When the NP came in we asked for an MD and the NP was extremely offended we were asking to see someone with an actual medical degree to treat our infant in an emergency room.
