Having read the reviews we chanced our arms and dropped into the Galleon to see if we could grab a quick bite and were delighted to get a table. Perhaps it was because of the stormy conditions outside but we didn't care we were hungry. The staff were quick, very friendly & more than happy to help with any queries. As we didn't have alot of time we only ordered mains. I had the scampi & chips & my mum had the fish, chips & mushy peas. Both were delicious. We can't wait to visit again & spend more time to really enjoy our food.

Best service in Salthill! Oslo couldn't seat us at 7:15pm with 8pm closure due to covid restrictions so we decided to try Galleon. Not only were the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating but the service was quick and both the starters and the mains exceeded expectations.

!!DONT EAT HERE!! Some of the worst food I have ever eaten. Myself and my wife went for breakfast. Both had full Irish. Everything tasted gone off and cold. The fried egg was so under cooked the white was running all over the plate. We both got food poisoning and we're sick for 3 days. To top it off the restaurant was freezing cold. Will absolutely never return again

We went there two times with my partner, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Very good value for money!!! The restaurant's personnel is very professional, nice and caring - they make sure your experience is pleasant and you don't miss anything. The restaurant's atmosphere is absolutely fantastic, great choice of music. We had fish and chips - it was the best one I've ever had! I can also recommend their special dish called "Number 2" . The full Irish breakfast was not missing anything, it was just perfect! Looking forward to go there again!

All in my party enjoyed their food: Mac n cheese bites, brie squares, goat cheese beetroot salad, seafood mornay, seafood platter, sea bass, lamb shank. Service was very good, prices were very good for high quality food nicely plated.

Anytime in Salthill we always eat here. But this time dissappointed in Chicken Maryland I ordered. Not a chicken breast which I expected but flat processed like piece of chicken. My starter & dessert were fine. Waitress was very nice, but seemed to be the only lady serving all other staff seem to just be standing around 🤷‍♀️

I keep coming back to this place because the food is so good💗! I really enjoy the bacon and cabbage (a bit salty, but that's what makes it good), and the chowder soup is super creamyyy (lots of toppings too). The prices are affordable but the ambiance is still perfect for a nice dinner or brunch😊

So we ate in The Galleon three times during April. The first was when we arrived at Salthill after 23 hours of travel. Jetlagged and hungry and just before closing I think. They fed us something. So we went back again. Food was fabulous. Fries were perfectly fried with no residual grease. Plating was decorative and the restaurant was punching above our expectations. So a few days later we went back again. Sadly, the chef was a different one. I have to be honest that the food was still good but the fries were just a little tired. The plating looked liked standard diner...if they had not hit a high note on the second visit I would have been thrilled with the third. It is tough being in the restaurant business even in the good times but recent times have been hard. Will give the place a fourth visit to determine whether the second or third was the norm.

Came here for my daughters birthday, very busy. Our starters were nice but I got the roast chicken for main and it was very dry, vegetables were plain and over salty. Other people seemed to enjoy their food. Staff were polite and friendly

A must stop in place for food when you are wandering in the beautiful streets of lovely town - Westport. Being a vegetarian I hardly find any options but the veg pizza I ordered was amazing and a full treat for my son and wife too including me. After ages I tasted the most crispy and freshly filled vegetables spring roll. It made our day while stopping from our way back from Achill Island to Midlands.

The food was quite nice. The chicken dishes were lightly breaded and very moist. The lamb shank practically melted in your mouth. They seemed a little short staffed which prompted my rating of 4 instead of 5. The Atmosphere was nothing special. But still, all put together our group of 5 adults and 1 infant had an enjoyable experience. Thank you.

Myself and mum had dinner there and it was delicious! Chicken wings were out of this world and catch of the day was flawless plus my fish and chips were great. We had dinner there again few weeks later and it wasnt the same. Chicken wings felt bit overcooked and fish also. My burger was great, kids beef had a big chunk of fat sticking out and it was very chewy so i asked for chicken instead and staff were so nice about it and lovely and food was perfect for her. Maybe a different chef was on or something i dont know but staff is so lovely there and place doesnt need a booking which is great as with kids its hard to keep track of time with so much to see and do in salthill.

Lovely place with very good meals at good prices. Soup of the day - vegetable soup -, beef burger, chips were outstanding! the fish and chips and catch of the day (salmon) with amazing white wine sauce are creating in you a desire to come back again and again. For the desert - banana split is amazing. the waitresses were so polite and careful with us. The order came in no time. For sure we will com back.

Lovely little spot with great prices. Top tier garlic mushrooms & cheesy garlic bread. Super super nice staff who tried their best to get us into some shade on the very hot day. One complaint the Pitta Bread in the Superfood Salad was not fresh & warm, but overall still a lovely meal.

Had lunch here few weeks ago. I understand it is under new management. We were seated quickly. It was my folks first time to eat out since March 2020. This restaurant has always been my dad's favourite. Food was nice. Service was efficient, but I found the old ambiance was gone. I felt it was the end of an era. But with Covid hitting I suppose we can't have everything back to the way it used to be.

We return to the Galleon every year. The menu is wide and varied, the food is delicious, some of the best meals that we have ever eaten have been eaten there. The food is delivered in great time and the staff are excellent. Lots of locals eat there, not just holidaymakers, which is always a good sign

When we think about celebrations, The Galleon Restaurant is always our first option and it never disappoints. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was amazing. And the best recommendation is that my son eats most of his 2 dishes meal (he is usually not good eater) Service was delightful and very professional

Delicious food but service ladies felt too occupied with thoughts. Atmosphere is alright but very small toilets. But these things don't matter much as they offer delicious food.

We fancied a Sunday roast and this was great; simple but lovingly done. The lamb shank was tender and delicious. They don't do roast spuds sadly, but the mash was buttery and excellent. The gravy was unstoppable. Downsides: desserts could benefit from a bit more love, and the wine on tap was a little thuggish.

Ate in this restaurant last Sunday with my family! Despite their manic rush hour their really lovely staff and tasty food did not fail to disappoint. We don’t get to Salthill regularly but when we do we The Galleon Restaurant is a must visit. Our overall experience was great from the young man at the door, that helped me with my buggy, the waiting staff and lady that I presume is a manager chatting to everyone , my children were kept occupied by the crayons and colouring sheets. The galleon restaurant is one of our favourites.

The Galleon is our go to spot to eat in Salthill. Staff are always so friendly and the food is top notch. Great quality ingredients and you can tell the staff care about what they do. They always have great specials on offer and there’s convenient parking just around the corner. Would highly recommend to anyone for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

We were in there on Bank Holiday Sunday so you know how busy it is. The wait for a table was not long, the service was amazing, our food came out so fast that we were taken aback. The portions and taste were satisfying. All positive!!

Honouring your guests is the best kind of hospitality. We reached here just about 10 minutes before it was about to shut and there were already a good few people. The staff let us in without even once mentioning that they needed to close down, took our orders and ensured to keep the space open until we were done. Not even once were we rushed. We had a wholesome meal followed by excellent desserts and tea. It was just us in there eventually and every staff showed up to their full potential. That day, I did not just leave with a delicious dinner but also with a kind and warm experience. You know how they say — you don’t need to do something extraordinarily huge to show impact and kindness, it can be done in the simplest of ways and all that matters is your intent. That’s what I experienced here. Thank you for being so kind ✨ This has been a long pending review, so honestly, I don’t remember everything we ordered. But I have been there twice again after and I like their mixed grill plate, fish/catch of the day and the brownie.

Seated immediately, seemed busy. Very fast and pleasant service. Fantastic food. Had chicken burger and hubby had beef burger. Absolutely amazing all in all experience. Next time we're in Galway this is where I shall eat.
