This hotel should not advertise itself as. 4 star hotel, large rooms but a bit dirty. The bathroom is also not very clean. The hotel advertises itself as a family-friendly hotel, unfortunately the pool is 1.20m deep and more, so it is not for small children. Hotel staff very friendly, they have good breakfasts. If the management were more concerned with cleanliness, I would give 4 stars.

Stayed here for a weekend. Arrived around 7 and checked in. Got some dinner at the restaurant, which was nice. I got a Caesar salad and some curry chips. Service was pretty average and the staff were friendly. Had a family room, the room was very nice and had lots of space. The room we stayed in had two double beds and a single. The next day I went downstairs for breakfast which I quite enjoyed. First dayโ€™s breakfast was better because it had more availability because we went earlier. Lots of selection; nice cooked food, smoothies, yogurts, toast, fruit, meat and cheese. The star of the show for me was the banana bread it was amazing. The next day had less available because we went later but it was still nice. It was in a good location, not too far from Galway city so we visited the Christmas markets. The pool there was probably the best hotel pool Iโ€™ve ever been in, it was perfectly heated and even the changing rooms had shampoo and shower gel. The hairdryer didnโ€™t do anything because it was cold air so a bit useless. The service was pretty poor overall, there simply not enough staff. The cafe was left in a mess after the morning rush. The cleaners came in to do a light clean and it looked like nothing had been done, the glasses werenโ€™t cleaned, paper was left on the floor. Overall, I think it was an alright hotel cheap enough for a family of 5 if I was to come back to Galway I might stay again.

Room was perfect. The channel's selections were great. The room was clean and very warm. The temperature controls were easy to use and worked great. The shower was so nice. Probably the biggest shower I've used in a hotel and so was the bathtub, what more could you want.. The staff were super friendly and took care of all our needs. The hotel is a little outside of Galway city but the 401 bus takes you right outside the hotel from Eyre Square. The included breakfast was super good with lots of choices. Overall the best hotel I've stayed at in Galway so far !

Stayed 3 nights Room was very good overall. Housekeeping didn't finish making beds and left throw on table and floor in error. Didn't refill teabags only milk messages no shampoo or shower caps available either. Mattress topper and protective cover fitted incorrectly to make for a lumpy uncomfortable bed. And to adjust each night to make bearable as not pulled over and fitted properly Breakfast staff on floor amazing 5 ๐ŸŒŸ and food choice and quality excellent. Lorraine gets special mention. Booked for cookies and milk and payed extra as child's birthday on arrival. Never happened asked why next morning no sincere apologies received. They done on night two but honestly rather my money back as they had destroyed the magic of the birthday stay acknowledged to late. Kids welcome back was never received either that was included in the booking, asked twice again front staff only interested taking your money no interest in doing anything outside of this and never at desk always in room behind desk. Always walking into empty front desk and lobby unwelcoming. Bar food was okay.only ate once as very limited choice menu. Location good, as shops, bus stop across from entrance. Lots of parking available.

My husband and I came to Ireland on our honeymoon. Our flight from the US was incredibly long, and we showed up to the hotel several hours too early. Richard at the front desk was extremely helpful and kind to us in accommodating our early arrival. He managed to work with housecleaning staff to find us a lovely room that was ready for our stay! Richard is the best. Get this man on Love Island UK. #LoveIslandUK

Not a really good experience. Our room was not cleaned until the last day and we did have to ask for it twice. We even had to wait outside our room after been away for 6 hours (morning time). Within the room, shower water pressure was too loose and the toilet itself was not properly clean. Overall, the hotel was not clean enough: gym was really dirty and not properly maintained, the pool has not been cleaned for a while either: steps and walls seemed dirty and water had too much chlorine. At the pub/restaurant, food was fairly good to be honest, but in our second visit (it was crowded) I noticed a couple of the waitresses were not able to manage the service. Even so, I must say all the staff was kind and nice. Summarizing, this hotel is not a 4 star hotel and does meet the quality-prize relationship.

The bed was quite comfortable and the room adequately furnished. The indoor pool was nicely maintained and warm enough to swim. The hotel staff, including at the Leisure Center, were all VERY friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit of a problem. We ate dinner at the hotel and were less than impressed with the chef, although the service was good. We were glad there were no events at the racetrack, which kept things quiet and uncrowded.

From the moment we arrived in the door we were met with great service and treatment. We stayed for 3 nights. Room was big and nice and cosy, especially considering the cold weather. Breakfast very fresh and hot. Service in the bar was brilliant too. Couldn't fault it, and will definitely return in the near future.

My family and I loved the hotel. The food in bar was excellent and the breakfast was lovely too. The room was so clean and very spacious. The only thing I would prefer is if there were 2 single beds foe our children as they found sharing the double quite awkward. The swimming pool was great. Would highly recommend to anyone.

A great choice for race week, nice rooms and busy with folks and entertainment during the festival. A little out of town for the full Galway experience as itโ€™s a taxi ride back to the hotel. But good if you prefer a quieter location, though it hosts big weddings most weekends. Like a lot of hospitality thy seem to be struggling with keeping enough staff to maintain service levels particularly during the day.

Myself and my partner really enjoyed our stay here. The girl on the reception was so lovely when we were checking in she gave us an upgrade to a suite as we told her we were celebrating our engagement, a really nice start to our trip! The room itself was huge with big windows and it was so clean. I could have stayed in the bed all day it was so so comfy! Breakfast was nice with loads of options to choose from. Really glad we chose the clayton we will definitely be back again!

This hotel was fantastic. The best part as a traveling American was the bar staff. Michael. Aaron. And Rebecca seemed to be there every day. They hustled!!!! So quick. So attentive. So fun to talk to and โ€œhang outโ€ with. We hate we checked out and miss them already. Michael told me he works for his teammates next to him. He wants to come in and be there for his staff. What a lad. Great stuff. Whenever we come back to Ireland I will make it a point to stay here literally for the staff. Amazing people!

From start to finish the staff were excellent and the room was spotless every day. The only problem with the room was that the balcony door would not lock shut and the bathroom door was catching on the floor making it difficult to close. Only other comment is that staff need to be more helpful regarding the E V chargers for cars as they can be difficult to set up. When I asked at reception I was told that they are run independently but as a hotel guest I would have liked more assistance than I was given. After moving to our next location with the same procedure the staff went above and beyond to sort it for me.

My daughter and I stayed 2 nights in a family room a lovely big room with double and single bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the outskirts of the Galway city about 15 mins in a taxi and there's a bus stop outside the hotel. Would stay again.

I was here with my sister and had a comfortable stay. The room was clean and looked good. We ate in the cosy bar. The first time I had the house burger which was very good with an amazing sauce. French fries are home-cooked and delicious. Breakfast was outstanding. The hot selection was great, as well as cold meats were very tasty as well. Nice yoghurt. Banana bread was quite surprising. The puddings are delicious. The sausages were really good. The second morning we had poached eggs which were super tasty too. We spent the second night at the bar. The waitress was very pleasant. Had a lovely meal. I enjoyed my starter, for mains, I had the chicken supreme which was really good. Again, the sauce was a delight. For dessert, we had the salted caramel ice cream which was glorious. For sure I'll come back for the ice cream. The food was delicious here. Everything tasted so good. Very good food presentation. Check-in and check-out was quick and the staff was very nice staff. Enjoyed our stay, especially the food!

We had a wonderful stay at the Clayton for our friendsโ€™ wedding. The staff were so helpful and facilitatory. Wheelchair accessibility is excellent. Thanks in particular to all the restaurant staff and to managers Sarah and Elaine for their hard work.

Arrived Thursday evening 14/09/23, and honestly, my first impression was "stinking".The place looked like it badly needs cleaned. As we walked into reception to check in, there was puke all over the pathway leading to it. For the record, this puke was still scattered over the pathway the next morning. After a busy day travelling we were looking forward to relaxing with a drink in the bar. It's the first time in my 50+ years of a bar in Ireland where they had no Guinness, not even bottles. A bar in Ireland with no Guinness!!! We got a drink each and sat down in the bar, and my initial feeling of stinking proved true. The upholstery in the bar is badly stained, felt smelly, and needs completely redone. I honestly felt like I was sitting in a dirty environment. We had one drink and went to bed. The broken buttons in the lift enforced my feeling of dirty and a place that badly needs upgrading. The carpets in the corridor from the lift to the room were stained and dirty looking which gave me a bad musky smell. To my surprise, the room was very nice looking and looked better than anything up to this point in the hotel. Unfortunately, though, the air conditioning unit in the room would not switch off. Even though we switched it off, the air conditioning system kept making the noise throughout the night off a unit switching on which at various times through the night woke us all up. On complaining about this the next morning, we were more or less met with a shrug of the shoulders as if to say "well what do you want me to do about it?" We had an early start, and the coffee shop in reception, which was meant to open at 8am, didn't so a no coffee morning start for us. Considering the price it costs to stay in these way over priced hotels, I can honestly say that I'll be forever avoiding this one. I hope the hotel manager reads this so that he/she can step up to the mark and do the simple things of their job right, which might make this establishment a place considered worth staying in, but definitely not by me again.

Family room was perfect, pool ideal for us. Breakfast was the only disappointment with no trays to help bring across breakfast for 2 children so a lot of trips to buffet were made.

Had lunch in the Tribes Restaurant. The food was really tasty and the service was excellent. Especially our waiter Jo. Our group had several babies with us and we had plenty of space for buggies and the changing facilities are spacious and clean.

We called for food coming out of Galway city on Sunday evening. We ordered food in the bar and the service and the quality of the food was fantastic. Menu had loads of variety and the food was delivered with minimal wait time. We had a 1 year old with us and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Special mention to Rebecca who was serving us, she's was excellent.

I really liked this hotel. Beautiful entrance and very helpful and nice staff. The room was massive! It has a relax area to one side and the bedroom to the other. Also the bathroom was impressive. The restaurant serves quite good food. It has also a nice swimming pool.

Modern and clean. We'll situated. Comfortable rooms, although tea/coffee making lacked anything to stir coffee with and for 4* could have been better supplied! Restaurant food was nice and adequate for 4* hotel. Would recommend for short break

We had an excellent stay here at the Clayton Hotel in Galway. My partner and I stayed for 2 nights. The food was amazing for both breakfast and Dinner. The Tribes restaurant is amazing, It was the best food we have ever had. The staff are so lovely and the customer service skills were excellent. A big thank you to Jo who served us at breakfast, made sure we were happy with everything and was really accommodating with our orders. The bistro had a lovely dinner option and the food was also incredible for dinner. Would definitely recommend my friends return even to try brunch or for dinner and drinks. The rooms are fabulous and really comfortable. The front desk were brilliant with Laurence greeting us on entry to the hotel. Over from the UK for the week and had driven from Dublin to Galway and had booked the week before. (also stayed at a Clayton Hotel in Dublin) Arrived early and Leonie was fantastic in getting me a room quickly. Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was really good. Waited on by Jo who looked after me and is a credit to the hotel. I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit. I'd always chose Clayton hotels given the choice. Always a good experience.

To begin this review, I arrived at 5 pm after checking in online, stating I would be arriving after 4 pm. I was informed upon arrival that 1 of my 2 rooms would not be ready. We were advised to wait in the 1st room and I would be contacted when the 2nd room was ready. Upon receiving a call at 6 pm saying the 2nd room was ready, I went down to reception to collect the keys. I was shocked to learn that the 2nd room would be on a completely different floor despite having made clear over the phone and in reception that I needed both rooms to be on the same floor. This led to another hour and a half of waiting until 8 pm. This was a huge inconvenience as we had booked dinner in the hotel restaurant for 8:30 pm earlier in the day. This meant we had to rush ourselves to get ready for dinner. The receptionist apologized and gave me my keys to the 2nd room. I was extremely disappointed and this put a dampner on the evening and ultimately the start to our weekend. Upon returning to the 2nd room, I discovered that the bathroom door does not lock, as the lock joint does not align. There were also tomato sauce stains on the carpet beside the beds. The pillowcases were dirty with crayon and black smudges. Despite asking at reception for them to be changed, they were not. Instead we received an extra pillow and the dirty pillowcases remained. There was also a decent amount of dirt underneath the beds along with hair bobbins, and Bobby pins. With covid still present, one would expect the rooms to be cleaned and sanitised to a very high standard to avoid the spread of covid-19. Ultimately this whole experience was not satisfactory for me and my party. We were extremely disappointed with this as we have frequented many of the Clayton hotel franchise and this one is by far the worst we have stayed in. This experience has definitely made me reconsider my loyalty to the Clayton hotel brand for future stays around Ireland.

Plenty of parking available. Staff very friendly and efficient. Nice big room with a comfy bed, everything spotlessly clean. Decent size bathroom with a good shower. Couldn't fault the room in any way. Headed into the bar for something to eat. I wasn't especially hungry so opted for the chicken wings as a main. I went for the hot sauce which was honey based and was hoping it wouldn't be too sweet. There were plenty of wings smothered in a delicious, not at all sweet but well balanced super hot sauce. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I didn't notice a TV anywhere so maybe not great if you are looking to watch a match. Breakfast next morning was good with a very good selection of hot and cold options as well as delicious pastries. Would recommend this hotel anytime

It was great. My husband is in a wheelchair and it's wheelchair accessible for the most part. We were delighted to be upgraded to a bigger room to accommodate my husband's needs. The only thing I'd say is that with the thick carpeting, it can be hard for one to propel a wheelchair without assistance, also I was disappointed that the room had no refreshments, no tea station or even drinking water. But otherwise it was great. Lived the food from the bar.

After a long day, with many miles travelled, all my Wife and I wanted was a relaxing environment to recharge. We arrived late, after 11pm, and the warm welcome given by the staff, was appreciated. Tommy, in the bar particularly stood out. Great customer service.

I've stayed here a few times and my July trip was best of all good experiences. There is a very welcoming vibe from the staff team, clearly a happy team wanting to provide a great service. May be a bit out of city and near a busy junction but is easily accessed. Food was excellent and rooms comfortable.

Beware, over priced beaten about hotel. We had a room with a broken double glass pane the full length. Broken glass on the bedroom floor we had to pick up ourselves. Was a smashed beer glass then walked into the carpet. Dirty carpet. Upstairs water leak, stain on the ceiling. TV tuned in with Spanish text you couldn't get the EPG to English. Front desk staff confused had not got our correct booking of inclusive meal deal. Had to sort that out myself. Way over priced for the the beaten up room. Very poorly run hotel.

The minute we walked in we felt a warmth from the staff. Absolutely amazing service! I had a wonderful vegan pizza and my husband had a big chunk of beef to get through. Wish we were staying longer. Iva who served us in the restaurant was absolutely charming and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this Hotel!

Booking of meeting rooms via e mail is professional, timely and usually get dates required, and equipment. Alan is is good guy to deal with, reception are in control at check in and payment, it is good to see the Covid screens removed. Martin manages our meeting & catering needs very well in meeting rooms. Lunch service is usually on track and timely. Emma in reception is good to deal with and in control. Guest rooms are as expected, but can be warm at times. Dining room staff and food are very good. Plenty of parking on site and ease of access off motorway to the venue.

We stayed for 2 nights 3 days. The hotel was really lovely and the rooms were perfect. Staff are really friendly and helpful, including the bistro staff. We had dinner in the bistro one night, and the food was lovely and well priced. Se stayed in an executive room, which was huge with a balcony. I was a bit nervous, but the photos on the website really do not do this hotel any justice.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights recently. The hotel was clean, check in was prompt, room was clean and good size. Food was enjoyable as was The Whiskey Sour. Recommend. Good selection of pastries. Lemon Cake Recommend. Breakfast was really good as were the poached eggs. Perfectly cooked. My wife really enjoyed the bacon and white pudding which he wouldn't usually eat (White Pudding).Service for dinner both nights was efficient and the food very good. Steak Recommended. Celery was tasty and the raspberry dessert was served with a really nice sauce and the ice cream was delicious. All in all, we really enjoyed the experience at The Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit and we will definitely stay here again. Well done all. Thank you

Nice and comfy hotel. My only gripes are that the shower is of the type that rains on you from above with no other option, not a deal breaker but I struggle to reach everywhere at my age, and the air con changes status by itself periodically. Breakfast is good, bar food is good, good choice of beers and parking is easy.
