Cappagh
stores
has
been
my
local
shop
since
1996.
Brian
and
his
family
always
go
above
and
beyond
for
their
customers.
There
is
a
superb
selection
of
wine,
and
if
you
need
help
choosing
wines
for
various
occasions,
gifts
or
similar
you
will
never
go
wrong
with
one
of
Brians's
recommendations.
The
local
shop
became
a
much-needed
resource
for
many
of
us
when
Covid
hit
in
2020.
Again,
thanks
to
Brian
and
the
team,
we
were
safely
looked
after
with;
new
and
extended
services,
including
options
such
as;
the
ability
to
pre-order
various
meats,
or
designated
hours
for
an
outdoor
shop
for
example.
For
the
last
26/27
years
of
my
life,
since
living
in
Ireland,
the
retail
landscape
has
gone
through
continuous
changes.
In
terms
of
groceries,
we
have
witnessed
smaller/independent
supermarkets
such
as;
Quinnsworth,
Superquinn,
and
Joyces
merge
with
larger
chains
or
distributors,
including;
Tescos
&
Supervalu,
for
example.
We
have
had
smaller
independent
stores
absorb
into
larger
franchises/distributors/suppliers
including;
Centra,
Londis,
Spar,
Tesco
Express
and
many
more.
In
the
last
20-odd
years,
Aldi
and
Lidl
have
infiltrated
every
county,
every
town,
and
bit
by
bit
they
are
coming
into
every
village
in
Ireland.
Throughout
all
of
this,
Cappagh
Stores
has
been
the
one
constant
across
huge
shifts
in
the
market.
For
many
of
us,
the
independent
convenience
store
is
a
thing
of
the
past.
It
wasn't
until
Covid
occurred
in
early
2020
that
I
personally
realised
how
much
we
can
take
our
local
corner
shop
such
as
Cappagh
Stores
for
granted.
Between;
the
safety
measures
put
in
place,
the
extended
range
of
groceries
and
the
exemplary
efforts
from
all
the
staff
throughout
the
pandemic,
the
local
shop
was
one
of
the
only
services
that
stood
the
test
of
time.
