This hotel is wonderful. It’s so beautiful and well cared for - there is a hotel next door that is newer, but it’s just a big ol building - no character or charm and zero trees and landscaping. Some people complained that this hotel is dated, but I didn’t think so - it’s charming and well maintained. The staff was great too - very attentive and helpful. They organized cars for us and were super flexible. I read some reviews about people complaining about the food. I did not have this experience. The food was absolutely incredible. I could die for that chicken yassa and the beef domodo was excellent too. Breakfast was very good too! There are two restaurant options for food, but I only ate meals at the one by the beach. I didn’t have any of the international plates so I can’t speak to them. But if you’re in The Gambia, order Gambian food and you won’t regret it - 10/10. The rooms were very comfortable and the ACs worked well. The beach was beautiful - very clean and pretty empty during the day. The private cabanas are luxaryyyy. The sunset is to die for and it’s so nice seeing people work out and play soccer on the beach in the evenings. I’m sure the beach is more crowded in the tourist high season. Nobody was trying to sell me stuff, which was nice. And you can walk to the monkey park from the hotel along the beach. My only feedback is that the hotel should hire more female staff.

They do not wrap up any events on time and you will be awake well into the night because the music lasts until 5am. Very poor management and slow service. One of our friends had to sleep in the spa, it was so loud where they were! Just plain awful! The staff and the food were okay.

Truly one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen or been on. Hotel room is quite comfortable although not very modern amenities (TV was not very clear), however most likely that won't be your number one reason for being there. Internet speeds are OK given that generally connectivity is not great in The Gambia. Pool was great too. Staff were very warm and friendly. Room service menu was a bit limited with not too many options. That was a big disappointment for me. Also, if you are paying with your credit card they charge 3% surcharge and the connection was very unstable failing at least 5 times in my 2 week stay. In check out had to resort to paying in cash.

One of the best resorts in Gambia. Price above average, but excellent services, rooms and more. This has it all. Often used for important foreigners to stay, exclusive weddings for the happy few, but you can also stay here of course.

Pros: amazing staff, super friendly and attentive and very patient, the guest relations person, Mohammed, was so kind and warm to me and my mother. The spa was amazing and incredibly relaxing, the staff here was also so nice. Rooms itself are great, everything was clean when we arrived. Cons: horrific mosquito problem, I woke up each day with at least five new bites in my sleep, and a lot of them on my face which was disgusting. The suites don’t have mosquito nets and even spraying every day and almost killing my lungs did little to prevent getting eaten alive while in my room. Wi-Fi is so touch and go you mind as well not have it, rarely ever had a stable connection the entire time no matter where I was in the resort.

Lonely location right on beach. Relaxing venue. Welcoming & friendly staff. Food very good but expensive versus local restaurants. Spacious rooms. Adult-only area but not enforced. Spa lovely with wide range of treatments. Yea Site needs a bit of TLC - starting to fade & Lose splendour. Room fabulous but needed several maintenance visits Bit of investment needed but still well worth a visit!

Beautiful the best in Gambia:::Had a great time for my birthday, place was clean and the employees were great, issues with Wi-Fi and water was out on two days we had to wait on repairs that should not happen at a high end hotel.. not many breakfast choices.. not a lot of info or brochures on tours and places to eat etc. I will visit next birthday to see the upgrades and changes made. I wish the restaurant had tasty meals as well.

This resort is paradise. Beach was beautiful. We had lunch out on the deck near the beach. Food and atmosphere was delicious. I definitely would love to go back to this little bit of heaven.

The Room was beautiful the staff working working on the ground and catering fantastic, reception staff needs training in welcoming and hospitality, especially the assistant manager not the manager who book the room. I was badly insulted and spent the night crying in my room feeling anger that if I was white i would not of being insulted by this bold head black man letting me know that that the cost of my room was not right as it was a complementary discount, as I had my wedding book, and pair for 50 people 24 of whom fly from 🇬🇧 and I paid good money fro the beach wedding also the hall and this man made me feel worthless I had horse and carriage fir my usher and bridesmaids &usher can u imagine this man shouting at me and my Gambian Husband telling is there is a mistake, I ask him three time if he is trying to embarrass me and he looked into space as if I was not there, when I told my friend John Barnes he agreed that he would of never speak to a white woman like that. But apart from that Me. Borrows and his fantastic staff gave me a beautiful wedding day absolutely fabulous food and service. I am requesting that man be removed from dealing with customer, he’s giving the hotel a bad reputation. Wedding day was my birthday 26. February 2020

High standard spa with a lovely team, that offers services such as 1 hour hammam and 1 hour Swedish massage for very reasonable prices (package at 45 euros). Beautiful natural space among palm trees and some monkeys. Restaurant in front of the sea. Nice hair saloon, where I could have a shampoo, brushing and straightening of my long hair for the equivalent of 12,50 euros only. A hotel that I highly recommend, where you feel welcome and peaceful :) Thanks for your quality services!

We visited Gambia for the very first time and stayed at Coco Ocean! We've had an amazing experience and the hotel was first class. All staff were attentive, friendly and happy to assist with all our requests. The management team speak to all guests on a daily basis ensuring that everything is OK and that there are no issues. Exceptionally clean, lovely food, great selection of drinks, an all round fabulous hotel. We don't normally leave reviews but felt the hotel and staff warranted a great review. Will definitely be booking again. Wayne & Julie

We booked a spa visit prior arriving in The Gambia after seeing finding it online. You will not be disappointed. The place is beautiful. A calm and relaxing reception and main area with soft music playing, seating and pool. My wife booked us in for a Full body aromatherapy massage which did not disappoint. Felt absolutely amazing after and could of fell asleep. Will be re booking next year.

I have actually never stayed at the hotel but have used the Spa, Pool and restaurants several times. A very nice and welcoming place with one of the best customer service in The Gambia which is hard to come by whether you visiting or live in the country. Food prices are a bit on the high side but comparable to other leading hotels in the area. Coco Ocean is also a very family friendly hotel for those traveling with young children.

Have been having our breakfast at Saffran(the fine dining restaurant) great fruit and salad buffet. Freshly baked bread rolls and danish pastries. Followed by a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice and tea or coffee. Fresh fruit jucies, yoghurt and muesli also available. Try the local baobab juice which is also very good. Told by local friends that Sunday buffet usually great. Other eateries nearby so looking forward to trying these.

We stayed 2 nights while on our Senegal and The Gambia holiday excursion. From the ferry at Banjul to the hotel was about an hour in traffic. Resort is right on beach and is a large resort. It has 4 pools and was decorated nicely for Xmas. Staff was helpful and very friendly. We ate breakfast and dinner at the resort, thoroughly enjoying each and every meal. Next time we spend more time on-site instead of going on tour.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel which is immaculate throughout. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The food and service is second to none. The staff were so welcoming and friendly I have met some wonderful people and made some life long friends Nothing is too much effort for the staff. Thank you to Pierre Gordon and my beautiful friend Madeline I would highly recommend coco ovran to anyone who wants a luxury holiday in Gambia See you in 2023 guys 🙏🏼❤

Majestic. A truly beautiful place. How the reviews on many sites are in the 7s or lower are confounding to me. I moved hotels twice around Kololi until I found this place. The rooms are gloriously large and the private pool is cleaned every day, the food each meal time was excellent and the private beach is a lovely place to while away the hours with minimal harassment. This is where dignitaries stay when they visit the area, and it’s easy to see why.

Enjoyed my stay. Lovely staff. If you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing I'd recommend here. I do like being in the hustle and bustle so I would choose somewhere else next time but it's a great hotel!

People make the place, with hotels. The staff at Coco Ocean is unmatched! I've stayed here many times (and even brought groups) and each time I am more impressed by how well they cater to guest's needs. Several other establishments (and their loyal customers) have tried to woo me away, but I cannot bear the thought of visiting The Gambia without the "Coco Experience". ". not having the Coco Experience

The resort is simply outdated. Maintenance is way behind. The grandeur of earlier days is still there but everything is simply old now, furniture, wallpainting, restaurants...no longer worth the price. Staff is very friendly but not classified in any way.

This place has huge potential but so neglected. I put beautiful photos but beware of details in the rooms: smelly pillows had to ask for new ones that were still smelly, restaurant service almost inexisting , you better bring cash, the PoS doesn't work, the kitchen viewed from outside looks so dirty, they should invest in towels, what they give you is just so used and smelly. Yet, the view is amazing and the building impressive with an amazing garden.

The location is perfect. You will get the best views and i love the black and white stairs especially for taking pictures. This is actually my 2nd horrible experience in a row. I love the location so I kept giving it another chance just thinking well maybe this time they will get it right. The BRUNCH FOOD SUCKS. Let’s start with the Salad;it wasn’t cut then the chicken was dry no flavor. The lamb was extra dry. I just end up eating humus, some potatoes and fish. Most of the staffs were rude acting like the food was free. Desert was good and the waiter was nice but given the rudeness and time challenges we will just go somewhere else next time. Brunch for 1 person is D1500.

Coco Ocean is located in the Senegambia Area of Gambia - 30 minutes drive from Banjul/ 20 mins from the International Airport. One of the best hotels in The Gambia- lovely white Moroccan riad style structures, lovely Deco very classic hotel just by the beach. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Absolutely love the Spa Area - the Hammam Bath is really great and affordable. The only disappointment for me was the food, it appears that there has been a change in management and chefs- quality of the food is poor, advisable to go to the many restaurants in the Senegambia area... The WiFi was surprisingly good.. All in All, coco Ocean remains one of my best hotels in West Africa, I love the quiet serene environment and the attention from the staff, Beware of the monkeys and mosquitos tho 😁 Also make sure your keep your valuables safe, DO NOT LEAVE MONEY IN YOUR ROOM....

Best place for a Sunday buffet time! Fresh seafood on the grills, salad, side dishes, seasonal fruit, and selections of dessert. Great service and friendly staff.

Worst dinner experience by far! I ordered lamb tagine. I got this instead: beef over cooked until it was dry! The apricots and cashew nuts were not cooked at all (they’re supposed to be stewed with the meat). The manager says they’re just supposed to be garnish. I was utterly dissatisfied and completely disappointed. So anticlimactic, especially after the stunning sunset view.

The best experience I've had visiting an African country. The service staff were incredible. The front office manager, Mohamed, is beyond awesome. He was attentive to our every need to ensure a pleasurable stay. He made our stay brighter.

We came in late one night after driving from Guinea Bissau. I was exhausted, and we stumbled across this hotel. When I was asking to find out where to park, I was rushed into a VIP area, and because I was so tired, I just said OK, I will pay whatever they charge. This place truly is amazing. The staff, the food, the atmosphere, everything is top-notch. One negative thing that occurred during my stay was that there was an Indian concert that had thunderous music through the night, but that was not the fault of the hotel. The hotel staff was attentive and professional, and the food in the Thai restaurant was terrific. Due to the cost, I don’t know if I would return and spend time here, but the one night I went there was exquisite. The Wi-Fi, as others have stated in the reviews, is not good, but the rooms and everything else are stunning

I didn't stay at this hotel, but only went for the spa facility, as I'd heard really good things about it. It's very impressive when you arrive, but if you have mobility issues, it's probably not great for you. I would check with the hotel to see if they have options for this. We had spa treatments booked, and the spa pool wasn't working, but they wanted us to pay 1000 dalassi to use the pool area, which we didn't. There are 3 pools, which are tiered, and actually not very appealing. The sun beds are either leather looking or fabric. The fabric ones were not very clean, and the beach towels were not great. We ordered drinks and food, and the service was very slow, and we had to send a couple of our drinks back as they were not made right. The spa, I had a basic Hamman, it was OK but I have had much, much better. Their basic doesn't include the soap wash, which should be standard. It has been for every other Hamman I have had elsewhere. If in Gambia again, I would have a spa treatment there again, but just not the Hamman, as friends I was with enjoyed the treatments they had.

We stayed at the Coco ocean for a week. The Hotel is located on a very nice location and the exterior grounds are well maintained and very clean. We booked a royal suite with private terrace and private swimming pool, the suite was very large offering a small kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a very large living room with dining table and a nice bedroom. Overall the whole room and terrace / swimming pool really are in desperate need of a renovation / makeover (may other buildings as well) for this daily rate I expect a way better room condition. -Many window locks are broken so the windows can be opened from the outside with ease -The small hotel safe was not bolted to anything so it could be carried away. -There are many cracks under the kitchen door, around the main door etc. a perfect entry for mosquitoes ( and we had many of them in the rooms) -The bed provides a mosquito-net but its not mosquito proof until we sprayed the whole thing with insect repellent. - Tiles on terrace are broken and have sharp edges , beware ! - Sharp edges on the chairs , used down furniture. Privacy: We did book the suit for the private pool and terrace but during the whole day gardeners, cleaner and other staff are literally climbing around and over the building reducing privacy and rest to almost zero - and all want to help you - ( for a tip) Is it not possible to clean the pool and water the plants etc. within one or 2 hours a day ? The rooms cleaning staff was excellent ! Friendly and helpful when needed! Good service in the restaurant at the beach , great food but very often the white wine and beers are served warm, they will provide an ice-bucket on request but this is just a fix, it seems to happen a lot as aothers complained about warm beer as wel. Service at the breakfast was horrible , waiting a long time for service, twice the coffee was not available and we waited 45 mins for our egg dishes , the waiter apologized 3 times and it was not even a busy day, tables , glasses and plates are not really clean, mediocre buffet, cheese and meat options often not available and not refilled. NOT what i am used to at a 5 star hotel this must be improved ! Very nice guest relations lady really made my birthday a success, however the reception lady never smilled at all and did not give you a welcome feeling. Car service provided is very chaotic. The cars where NEVER on time as booked and they made us share the car twice while still charging the full rate to both parties. So the hotel is certainly nice but a lot of work needs to be done to here to reach a 5 star standard again.
