One of the easiest hikes, with gorgeous views. If you're visiting by public transport, timing is the key. There's a bus from Gampola CTB bus stand named, Doragala bus. It'll leave sharp at 9.40 AM. So be there by at least 9.30. Ask the driver or conductor about returning bus. Get off at the last stop (Doragala tea factory), the hike starts from there on. Take enough water, or you can buy here, as there are no water resources on the top. Takes within 1 hr to reach the summit of the mountain. You'll be passing houses, so you can confirm your route on your way. There on you'll have to hike through woods, won't take more than 40 minutes. On the peak you can view the beautiful Kotmale Dam. There's also a small hut before you reach the peak, you can rest and eat there. There are 2 buses at 2.10 and 3.20 PM to return to Gampola. If you get 3.20 bus you can see the Kotmale Dam on your way (it's a different route to the morning bus). Enjoy, and keep the environment clean.

It is like a little world end. Have to claim the hill. Way to the top is not much difficult when compare with world end. Good view point from the top, can see the full coverage of kandy district. Safe place. During the claim, there is no facilities to water and food. So have to bring with us.

A really nice place to visit in Kotmale. You can visit there within 30 to 45 mins from Kotmale Dam's Museum. ⚠️️ It's better to have a vehicle with good ground clearance since the road condition is not good (see the dash cam footage below). We went by a Vitz with 3 people, and touched the ground a couple of times, needing very careful driving. You can follow the Google map, you should put 'Peacock Hill Hiking Trail Start Location' as the destination to show the correct road. Vehicles can go upto the trail start point. The trail is easy and about 1km, took about 30 mins to go to the top. 🌟 You can see a breathtaking view from up there. It's really beautiful, calm and peaceful. For best views, try to be there early in the morning or evening. ⚠️️ Be careful on the rock. Enjoy the view and take some pics. Be nice to mother nature and don't pollute her.

Ideal one day hiking location for beginners. We reached their via Doragala road. It takes around one hour If you started the hike from Doragala town. It's worth to walk through these smalI village if you have much time. You can see some upcountry agricultural activities. Also you can reach to the Pinus forest starting point by a small vehicle like motorcycle. It takes around 30 minutes if you started from there. Actually, the route isn't much tough. Easy to access the peak. However, The peak view is amazing. Picture perfect view point. Be careful on edges and please leave only your footprints( because we saw too many trash)...

Peacock hill is a mountain situated in the Central highlands of Sri Lanka. The easiest way to reach the mountain is from Mahaweli Seya- Kotmale road. The road is not in a good condition. However you can go with a Car. Low parking space. After reaching the end of the road, it is only 500-600m to reach the top of the hill. An easy hike and it will take aroud 10-15 minutes. The view from the top is heavenly.

One of the best view points in Sri Lanka. Hiking takes about 20 minutes from the road. You can get a good view of Ramboda, Kotmale from the top. But during the rainy seasons the view may not be visible due to the mist.

One of the picturesque places in Kothmale area. However getting there is a bit tricky due to the bad road conditions. Only the first few kilometers from the Kothmale Saya is in good condition. Other half of the leg is challenging. You have to drive over a stone exposed road. The road like that up to Doragala town and from there road is kinda okay for another few kilometers. If you are traveling in a vehicle with low ground clearance, make sure that you park your vehicle at Aramaya and walk the rest. From there you have to walk like 2.5 kilometers to the hike starting location. From the hike stating location to the top, there is another one kilometer. Which is not that hard to climb and can get there in like 30 mins. You can also visit peacock hills by public transport. In order to do that, you have to take Doragala bus from either Atabage or Pussallawa. The walk towards right from Doragala junction toward the tea factory. After around 4 km walk from there, you’ll meet the same hike starting point.

Peacock rock is a separate feeling | ⁇ Peacock rock is a great place to get a special feeling in Pussellawa. Ambuluwawa from the top of the peacock rock 1513 meters above sea level, Dolosbage Mountain Range, Nawalapitiya Town, Nuwara Eliya Town, You can see the beauty of a large area like Pidurutalagala mountains, Kotmale and Bible rock. From Pussellawa you come about 6 km along a winding narrow road and from there you have to climb this Peacock hill on foot. The journey is not as difficult as climbing other mountains. However, it is one of the most beautiful destinations in Sri Lanka.

Monara Gala Mountain is the highest peak in the Pussellawa area. It is also the most scenic spot in Kotmale, with stunning views of Ambulawa, Dolosbage Range, Nawalapitiya Town, and Nuwara Eliya. The mountain is named after its peacock-like shape. There is a section of rock at the top of the hill that protrudes from the main ridge and looks like a peacock's head and neck. Visitors can go further along the rock and descend slightly to reach the most beautiful spot on the top of the hill. However, it is important to be careful as there are slopes on all three sides. In addition to its natural beauty, Monara Gala Mountain has a rich history. It is said that Prince Dutugemunu lived in a village at the foot of the mountain for many years while farming in the Kotmale area. Legend has it that he had a discussion with the Suranimala giant who brought information to Prince Gemunu through a rock from Mount Monaragala.

Peacock hill is situated near Kothmale. If you are hoping to visit by bus here is the directions. You can take a bus from Gampola to Doragala. Usually you can take 9.30AM bus and it takes about 1.30 Hours to reach doragala. And there is a road to start point of Peacock hills. You won't miss the start point if you ask from villlagers. Hiking part takes less time. (30Min)

Reaching to the peak is not a hard hike . Its about 1.5 kilometers. There is no any hash conditions. We have to go among a Pinus tree yard. But water is not available on the peak. Sunset is not too much visible due to the misty conditions. There are two ways to reach to the peak of the Peacock Hill. But one way is temporarily closed. Another way is not easy because the road is mostly damaged. Reaching 4 wheel vehicles like Cars , Vans are little bit difficult.

Peacock Hills mountain is 1518m in height, located in Pussellawa town in Kandy district. Local people called this as "Monaragala". Peacock Hill mountain got its name "Monaragala" because it is shaped like a peacock. When looking at the hill from a distance, it isn't easy to imagine such a shape. A section of rock outwards from the main ridge at the top of the mountain. That part brings to mind a peacock's head and neck at the top of a mountain. To get there, you must travel further along the rock and descend slightly. On the top of the hill, that is the most beautiful spot. While travelling to this place, you can visit Kotmale Dam also. Enjoy the beauty of nature.

This is very easy hike to go. You have to go through pine tree 🌲 forest. It's very beautiful. View of the top is very beautiful. Highly recommend to go. If it possible go by a a private vehicle since not much public transportation services available in this area. There's small shop on the top of the hill also. It takes less than one hour to go to the top.
