Heidi's home - now known as Serendipity Lake Artistic Bungalow by Heidi's Home - is a homestay that makes one feel like living in a fairytale. Owner Heidi is also like a fairy, with a wonderful soul. A beautifully hand-painted, family run property with rooms having their own personalities and themes, this truly gives a fairytale vibe. Creepers covering the walls and birds chirping throughout the day complete the picture, not to mention the cool breeze and the chilling climate of Nuwara Eliya. The service is top notch and one really does feel at home. The host Heidi and her family are very accommodative, supportive and understanding. The property is super clean and neat, despite not being luxurious. However, it is furnished with some high quality antique furniture. The food we had was quite delicious and prepared with love. Some consumables are purposely sourced from individual smallholder suppliers to support them. The location is roughly 3km away from the city centre and at the edge of the Gregory Lake. The area is more of a peaceful and calm residential area with a few rest houses and boutique hotels. For anyone who is looking for a getaway in Nuwara Eliya with calming vibes for the soul, this is certainly the place to be, run by a qualified, philosophical Yoga instructor.

Heidi’s Home (Serendipity Lake Artistic Bungalow) is absolutely incredible. The effort that has gone into the aesthetic is nothing short of stupendous, every little detail has created a fantasy out of this gorgeous cottage. Heidi herself is the most thoughtful and kind host, she helped us arrange drivers for both Horton Plains & Adam’s Peak and left breakfast packs out both mornings. Lastly the bed is the most comfortable we have slept-in in Sri Lanka including the bed at a 5 star resort also in Nuwara Eliya. Thank you so much Heidi.

Very warm welcome from Heidi and her team who are keen for you to enjoy your stay. Some might stay at the Grand Hotel, others in a hostel, but for us this was a perfect place. Artistically quirky and very comfortable! Don’t miss Lover’s Leap, it’s a beautiful waterfall spot, suggest you get a tuktuk driver/guide for this. High tea at the Grand Hotel is also fun. Not many places to eat so recommend the Italian down the road (Salmiya, basic setting but delicious food). The weather was chilly and drizzling when we arrived but when it’s sunny the scenery (but not the town!) is beautiful.

The house was so nicely decorated! I felt in a fairytale! The rooms are really big and cosy and have all facilities. In nuwara eliya it can get cold sometimes but the shower has hot water and its very amazing. The hotel owner Heidi is such a lovely and friendly woman who really takes care of you! We had dinner at the hotel and it was honestly one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka so far. The same could be said for the breakfast! We also went one day to horton plains very early and heidi made us a take away breakfast!

Actually unable to add more stars for this place - I would if I could. This is not just a place to stay but an experience. Heidi is amazing. She makes you feel at home and the house is cozy!! Easily the most comfortable bed in Sri Lanka that we experienced. We only had breakfast and this was one of the best we had on our trip. If you can choose to stay more than one night and use this place to unwind and relax.

Heidi’s home/Serendipity is a great place to stay in Nuwara Eliya. Perfectly located with a nice view of the lake. Guest house is beautifully decorated. Rooms were comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was generous and very tasty. When we were picked up from the train station, the taxi driver made us an offer to take us to Horton Plains and then on to our next guest house the following day. We discussed with Heidi, who explained that this was an unrealistic expectation to do in 1 day and the price we’d been quoted was expensive. She said “you’re at the highest point in Sri Lanka surrounded by beautiful country, why don’t you go out and enjoy it” so we did! Heidi arranged for a tuk tuk to take us round the tea plantations and waterfalls which was a lovely, more relaxing way to spend the morning. We then got a much cheaper taxi to our next guest house in Uda Walawe, which again she arranged for us. Really felt like she was looking out for us and it was very much appreciated.

The whole house has been beautifully decorated by the owner, which gives us a positive vibe as we enter the place. The owner is a very nice person who is so kind and helpful. Each rooms has different designs given by the owner. Perfectly maintained vintage home with great view and food. Highly recommended.

I have to give Heidi’s home a 5 star as it’s one of the most memorable, whimsical, special fairy home you can find. Heidi’s super caring, helpful, knowledgeable, she will take care of you like family. Location is a short Tutut drive away from town & walking distance from scenic lake. I’d stay there again in a heart beat!

The most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in! The rooms were gorgeous and so unique, with a super comfy bed and lovely bathroom. Staff were wonderful, Heidi and her small team are so friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely location above the lake, but still very close to the town. Definitely recommend!!

Imagine stepping into a storybook setting for your stay - that's exactly what Heidi's house in Nuwara Eliya offers. This enchanting abode, with its hand-painted details and peacock feather decorations, transports you straight into a magical realm. Heidi, our gracious host, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not just comfortable, but truly memorable. She made every effort to help us explore and appreciate the beauty of Nuwara Eliya to its fullest. Each morning, we were greeted with a hearty breakfast, lovingly prepared by Heidi herself, providing the perfect start to our day. We loved our stay in Heidi’s and would recommend it without hesitation.

What a lovely place to stay, the owner and her staff made us so welcome in their beautiful home. The rooms were all individually decorated with stunning hand painted flowers on the walls. Great location on the lake and easy to get into town. The owner is a very special lady. Thank you to all your team. We will definitely stay with you again ❤️

This place was a tad hard to find but well worth searching for. We were immediately impressed with the colourful garden and the greeting from our host. Our room was to die for. It was very colourful and quite sumptuous. The walls and ceilings are hand painted and very unusual. Tea and biscuits were available in our room. There were lots of blankets in what can sometimes be a quite cold place. Breakfast the next morning was probably the best/largest one we had in the whole of Sri Lanka. We were sorry to leave this place and wished we were able to stay longer. Really wonderful hospitality at Heidi's Home.

Stayed here in a family group (several rooms). We all loved our three-day stay. The rooms and grounds are decorated very eccentrically which we loved. Our host was lovely too and very helpful - arranging transit to and from Horton Plains along with a pack breakfast (I didn't particularly rate the breakfast though). Bedroom was big and spacious with a comfortable bed; bathroom worked well too. One thing which could be improved on is getting some airflow in the rooms. The dehumidifier needs to be going 24/7 and room did feel a bit damp after three days. Easy to put up with though..

We had a fabulous stay at Heidi's. The house is unique- very colorful as shown in the pictures and the garden is beautiful! The place was made with so much love and care for the guests. Well thought of. Breakfast also was delicious- fresh juice, tea, French toast, banana pancake and eggs on toast. Wish we could have stayed longer. Easily a 10/10! Highly recommend. The family who owns the place is lovely.

Heidi's home is now my new favorite place! This guesthouse is gorgeous but feels very luxurious at the same time. The bed is the most cozy and comfortable bed I've slept in, the decoration is mesmerizing and the hosts are very friendly. You'll reach the city quickly by tuk tuk (max 200 rupees) but you will not want to leave your room. Don't hesitate!
