Underrated historical place..there are lots of story hidden and overlapped beneath. Kaldighi-DhalDighi to baNghar fort to usharani kolamonch-narayanpur-keshabpur-chakrapanipur-ushaharan-bnshihari-tapan.. Must visit place and revisit the history of the place with serene unaltered village rhythm. Less explored and less cultured as well managed. History of chandras varmans and senas are mixed together Muslims culture and life.

This place is at Gangarampur Sub division. Historical importance due to archeological remaining are present of the King Ban. Ancient names of KOTIBARSHA and DEBIKOT is related to this place. Presently almost all of the excavated stuffs were shifted to the District Museum, Balurghat for preservation.

Ruins of an ancient Palace. Some discrete structure, with bricks, not at all well preserved. Any one can take out bricks and made this historical place a waste. Otherwise, a very nice and large open space with ruins. Must visit.

Administrative centre of Kotivarsha Vishaya, part of the Pundravardhan Bhukti. Mahasthangarh as its capital in the period of Chandras, Varmans & Sens. After the Sens were defeated by the Turks in 1204, Devkot was established as their capital where Bakhtiar Khilji died in 1206.

Great Place to visit as a historical Place. If You are planning to go somewhere related to history then you can visit it. Bangarh was the ancient city that served as the administrative centre of Kotivarsha Vishaya (territorial division), which was part of the larger administrative unit of Pundravardhana Bhukti, which had Mahasthangarh as its capital[1] during the Chandra, Varman, and Sena periods. Following the defeat of the Senas by the Muslims led by Bakhtiar Khilji, Devkot was established as their capital, where Bakhtiar died.

Bangarh is an ancient archaeological site situated in Gangarampur town. the place now consists of few brick structures spread around large area. the place should be properly maintained and preserved as it is a open space. local peoples use to cultivate inside the site which should be stopped. the bricks can easily be stolen from the structures as there no one to look after this historical spot.

The place is to be considered as historical and cultural landmark of ancient Bengal. It is now situated at Gangarampur area of Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal, India. Excavation of this place by archaeological survey of India (ASI) reveals newer facts. This place is nowadays maintained by ASI.

Bangarh was the ancient city. Bangarh was the capital of Koti Barsha district. During the Gupta period, the whole of North Bengal was known as Pundra Vardhana Bhukti (Pradesh). It was again sub-divided into a number of Vishayas (District). Koti Barsha was one of the districts. Its old name was Debkot/Debikot. In a radius of 8 kms of this area, different ancient archaeological remnants have been found. Under the leadership of Prof Kunja Gobinda Goswami, the excavation work was done between 1938-1941. After excavation, so many historical objects and archeological ruins of the Mauryan era to the Muslim period have been found.
