Ordered delivery and it arrived cold. Even still, very overpriced for what you get. Should have been half the price. Food was basic, portions were small.

If you haven't been ... just GO! You will not be dissapointed! Be sure to try their beer. I do recommend reserving table ahead of time, the place gets busy after 6pm. Don't be afraid of big portions, I made linguini pasta the next day and paired with all the seafood and lobster sauce. And OMG what a great care taken with TO GO packages! Amazing! We will be back and soon!

I randomly found this place while using Google to find an oyster bar with happy hour. Oyster were fresh and delicious and for the happy hour it was a buck a shuck. While we were there we ordered a pot of mussels - they were also very delicious. Fries that came out with the dish were also very good. Overall really good food and great service. Very nice ambience as well. I ordered a Pinot grigio off the happy hour menu and they really fill up your glass! Definitely would go back and highly recommend.

We had reservations and were told to wait until the everyone had arrived. Part of our party were little children because it was a family dinner and I noticed we kept getting “looks” by the hosts at the podium. Kind of like the oh great they have kids with them looks. This isn’t a bar or a nightclub. It’s a family restaurant at normal dinner time hours. Aside from that initial unfriendly greeting the servers were excellent and the drinks and food were very good.

Waterzooi, a Belgian restaurant in Long Island, NY, exceeded our expectations. My wife, being Belgian, was eager to try the mussels, and they were absolutely perfect. The cozy atmosphere and attentive staff added to the overall experience. We highly recommend Waterzooi for an authentic taste of Belgium, sorry, we forgot to take a picture of the dish

Great Belgian spot in Garden City with delicious seafood and beer selection. The Waterzooi seafood main was amazing and the mussels are a must try! Portions were hearty and we were stuffed! Great spot for seafood lovers.

I brought my son for his 18th Birthday and I ordered the Fra Diavlo. My mom and I ate the pasta and the mussels. The mussels has sands in them. It was hard to eat. The mussels were not clean at all. Well, I wont be back for awhile.

We really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. Everything we ordered was nicely prepared and the selection of beer and oysters were great. I took a star off because we had early dinner reservation (4pm) - we were getting ready to leave but was “being “nudged” by the manager to leave because other people were waiting for table. I told the manager we were waiting for our dining mates to return from the restroom and leaving upon their return. I guess after spending $125 per person w/o tip, we found it a little rude being nudged out especially when it was clear we were getting ready to leave.

Food was great! We ordered the bone marrow, mac and cheese, mussel pots, scallops, and the steak! It was tasty to say the least. We arrived early because when we called to make the reservations, we asked about happy hour and the lady said kids can stay but when we arrived, the host said "kids aren't allowed at the bar, but we can bring the food to your table." So as we proceed to the table to order some happy hour oysters, the waiter says we cant do that unless the manager said so. And then the same host comes over and said "sorry for the misunderstanding. happy hour is only at the bar" Which is fine, he misspoke. The issue was when my friend and I went to the bar to grab some quick drinks and oysters while we were waiting, the same host comes up to us with the most condescending demeanor and as if I was a child... "you can't do this" blah blah blah. Other than that, service was fine. The younger servers were all friendly but never got a refill on my water and seems like they kept rushing to get us out...

Extremely pricey for the quality of food. Had high expectations with the ratings and price in mind. Only good things I've eaten here were the escargot and ribeye. Lump crab salad is too bland, definitely needs a citrus kick (even though stated dressing is citrus vinaigrette). Sole platter HUGE disappointment as the fish was NOT fresh, just a battered frozen filet slapped on top of mashed potatoes and spinach. Surf and turf - two filet mignon steaks overcooked (ordered medium) and lobster dry. Special ribeye steak was good but is NOT Cajun style as advertised. I realize the signature dishes are French bistro such as mussels, roasted chicken, etc. But this place is pricey and should have quality dishes if they exist on the menu! Decor was also lacking, not a white cloth establishment. I was served a cracked water glass which I didn't realize until later in the meal. Would NOT return or recommend, certainly not amazing as the rating suggests. Better off going to the Capital Grille (consistently good at numerous locations).

I used to love this place ! Service was horrible!! As I am ordering the waitress walked away!!! And does not take the order this happened multiple times... of course she was there to multiple times check if we were ready to pay and leave! I've been coming to waterzoii for over a decade this kind of trash service will make me stay away for a bit :(

Very nice place. The kumamotos oyster is not bad, but I don't feel much sweet favor of it. The waterzooi is amazing, soup and seafood are both good. This is my recommended dish if coming for the first time. It has little of everything you might want. The octupus a la plancha is good but just not too much of my favor. The service here is amazing. You get to talk to the chef who handles your food later when placing your order. These are people who in white shirt. People who in black shirt will serve you dishes or water, etc... The cheesecake is very sweet with the caramel on top. Very friendly and very nice. Well done.

This was absolutely the best seafood I have ever eaten. Every dish was exceptional. Server abalonia was pleasant and attentive. While it is pricey the quantity and quality of the food and service is worth the price! Would give it 10 stars if I could!

Absolutely outstanding dishes that aim to impress. Waterzooi has many great options, I highly recommend the KIP chicken, the flavors came together in fantastic roasted chicken. The Fruti de mer is worth considering for groups of 3-4, as everything included is so fresh and well made. Waterzooi features a great beer selection to choose from as well.

Had provencal mussel pot. Had no taste. Sauce like dishwater and very expensive for lunch. Had a glass of wine, shared an appy of sweet potato gnocchi which was very good, and mussels. Came to $64 with tip.

I’d give this place 6 stars if I could. The beer selection is absolutely amazing. Mussel pots in different types of soups/stews, burrata appetizers incredible. Eating here pleases all the senses somehow. Makes my mouth water just writing this review.

3.5, but I'm rounding up for COVID. Came here for dinner with some work colleagues last night. The restaurant does a great job with social distancing. They have small bubbles outside for people and the bar seating is separated by individual dividers. The service was okay. The young man was super nice but a little less polished and informed about the alcohol at the bar than I would have expected given the price point. And it was our fault for eating inside, but it's really loud in here and that's with a limited capacity. I'm not sure if that makes it worse or better, honestly. Had the tuna tartare which was good. Nice wontons, Wish there was a little more tuna as opposed to avocado. Also there was a weird mayo thing on top, and that wasn't needed. Also got the steak frites, which were good. Steak cooked to temp (medium rare) but the meat seemed tough for some reason. Came with mayo and ketchup, but I would have liked maybe a bernaise, though not sure if that's belgian. My friend got the smoked salmon salad and said the salmon was incredibly mushy and so he just picked around it and ate more bread. So underwhelming, but I'm giving them a COVID bump in the ratings because I can't be sure.

We have visited for brunch few times. Never disappoints. So many great options on the menu. Of course, the mussels. Nice salads. Varieties of quintessential Eggs Benedict. Great place.

Update....have been back several times and sat at the bar. Always enjoy John the bartender's service and company. He is consistently a great guy. Went again last night with my dad and wife and ate at the bar. It was packed! However the service was great. Our main bartender was Max. He was outstanding! Super friendly, great at his job and made sure we were taken care of. This guy really makes sure he connects with all his customers. Definitely a rock star. The other bartender Mike was super friendly and helpful as well. Another great night. Btw....get the Chocolate Cake! It is amazing! Ate at the bar with my dad. Great bartender....John was awesome. Personable, knowledgeable and all around good guy. Elevated the entire dining experience. Mussels Oreganato were fantastic. Great beer and wine selection. French fries were to die for... Love this place. Will be back for sure!

. If you've ever played Sims you know how hard it is to make upscale food, on time, and make it taste good. I'm not a restaurant owner but the person whom owns this place is doing all the right things. My dad eats the octopus from there and I kid you not it's just like the one in the Sims. Quite amazing looking. It's his favorite too. Anyway, the food was great, the vibes were chill with a nice aesthetic, the service was amazing. The drinks were on point. And don't even get me started on the dessert, phenomenal.

Such an amazing restaurant! The Kumamoto oysters were the best oysters I’ve ever had! The escargot was awesome as well! I have had many fra diavolo dishes and while this one was very good it definitely wasn’t in my top 5. One thing is There we’re no squid tentacles, just the “rings” as some may call them, which is why I am only giving 4 stars. Great atmosphere, great waiter, great food!

Today was our first time at the WZ. We came in today for their brunch. The choices on the menu were numerous with much variety. We started with the Homard mussels. This was a generous pot of mussels cooked in a creamy lobster sauce. These mussels were all juicy and tender with a nice portion that we split among the 3 of us in a party of 4. The best thing was that the lobster sauce was so delicious that it was like an added bonus, getting about 5 bowls of the lobster "bisque type" sauce out of the pot. Combine that with the bread, and what a messy but yummy soup we had!!! We also had an order if spinach dip with their homemade potato chips! For the main course we ordered 2 salmon Benedict dishes. This was anice dish of 2 Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict with a generous portion of fries. We also got a Lobster and asparagus omelet, which was delicious as well. Another dish that we ordered was the Lobster Frites. Both the frites and the omelet were nice portions with a generous amount of fries. For drinks, we ordered 6 beers which do add up, about $80. Our overall bill for 4 was $280 not including a 20% tip. The service was very good. Our waiter took great care of us, all did came out in a timely fashion, no overlapping or rushing and the staff made sure that the dishes were not left on the table.

We had a tasty meal here on a Saturday night. I recommend sitting outdoors while the weather is nice because the smell of the seafood can be rather stifling indoors, and they have an ample setup outside with large marble tables, umbrellas to shade you from the sun and practical yet beautiful lighting. Our waitress was very sweet and earnest. I knew the menu would be a bit limited for me as a vegetarian but was happy to find some daily specials on the menu which I could also have, which was unexpected. I took advantage of one such option and got the watermelon salad with arugula, baby tomatoes, arugula and goat cheese and toasted marcona almonds. My only gripe was that it came heavily dressed, but perhaps I should have specified I wanted dressing on the side. They also have a lovely cheese fondue which I recommend trying--it was better than one I had at a fondue restaurant chain. However, the tea light candle they had underneath to keep the cheese warm and bubbly was insufficiently large and kept blowing out with a gentle breeze. Dessert was a delicious Belgian waffle with whipped cream that had a perfectly thick and fluffy consistency--not overly sweet--paired with fresh strawberries, along with creme brûlée. I was originally going to order the brûlée to take home to have later but there was a $10 surcharge for the ramekin, despite the sign on the dessert menu indicating every dessert was available for convenient take away. Some of the crispy sugar crust atop the custard was a bit over torched for my liking but other than that it was delicious. The Belgian chocolate mousse that I ordered for home which was 70% whipped cream and had a very ordinary chocolate sauce

We had the fra diavlo with black pasta and it was delicious! It's also good amount for 2 people. Ambiance and serve was very nice. Definitely worth another visit.

Slow and random service, plain and average food with tons of fry. And wrong order when there are only 6 tables around. You spend double the price for the food and service one could get almost every where.

  • 4/5 Theresa L. 1 year ago on Google
Came here with a friend for brunch. Prices are on the higher end but the food was pretty good. The restaurant wasn't packed or overly loud and we didn't feel rushed. I got the Oregenato Mussel Pot which comes with a side of fries ($32) and crab cocktail ($34). The cognac dijonnaise that comes with the crab cocktail is really good. Oregenato mussel pot was also good, could be shared with 2 people. Since we each got an entree, I couldn't finish the whole mussel pot by myself. Took the other half to go and they packed it really nice in a tray and plastic wrap to prevent leaking. I was actually surprised on how well they packed it. Only thing was that when we got our receipt, they charged us for a dish that another table had ordered so make sure you check the receipt.

One of my favorite spots. The atmosphere is always top notch, friendly service and delicious food and beverages. Come have a cocktail and share a mussel pot. The bouillabaisse is a favorite and their lobster bisque is one of the best I've had!

Honestly, this came recommended from a Facebook food group and I couldn't have been more pleased!!! just an absolute GEM of a place. Make sure to ask for the server Scott (if he's there) as he was amazing. the food was undeniably worth the trip from Ronkonkoma, and i look forward to more afternoons at this establishment. Additionally, their procedures for handling the current state of affairs is some of the best I've seen. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Even during a pandemic, this restaurant communicates delicious food, customer service and safety. Even as a walk in, they were able to seat us quite quickly. I also want to give a shout-out to Skye the waitress who provided nothing less than excellent service and attention to detail. She always checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The decor of Waterzooi Belgian Bistro & Oyster Bar is outmoded but elegant and cozy. The outdoor and indoor dining are both currently available. We did a reservation via OpenTable and the process went smoothly. The waitress is friendly, attentive and introduced all her recommendation in details. We had their daily special Hudson Valley Foie Gras and Crispy Duck Confit with Arugula as appetizers. The cheese stuffed fig was amazingly delicious, soft inside with caramelized crispy layer and the taste was between sweet and salty. The sliced duck confit in the salad was not our type, too hard to chew and dry. For entree, we tried the Waterzooi, their signature Belgian style seafood platter, to share. The portion was great with various ingredients, shrimp, lobster, clam and mussel. The seafood was cooked properly and the broth was super flavorful. All their desserts look so attractive and we had a hard time making our decisions. We ended up ordering Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée and Warm Nutella Beignets even though we were full already. The creme brûlée was the best, creamy and not too sweet. The beignet was decent but did not meet our expectation. Overall, we had a lovely and satisfying dinner there and definitely recommend people to try.

The 2 stars are for service. My friend and I ordered food from here tonight. My friend said her crab salad was bland and the crab was definitely not fresh. Super dry probably frozen. Her dressing wasn’t great either. I ordered the truffle lobster macncheese which sounded really good but the sauce barely had flavor, the lobster was not fresh, tasted dry chewy and bland. I didn’t even taste the truffle in it. Super disappointed. We spend over 20 dollars each and it was NOT worth it. We’d rather go eat at Macdonald’s.

Loved it. Been there before. I just love their choice of mussels. They have a large menu. Their service is a 5 star. Very very safe with outside seating that is actually in a clear plastic booth. Every one is in their own section. The new air filtration is located in the restaurant. The safest place I have eaten in since last February.

Went to waterzooi for birthday date night. I really wanted to sit in their bubble tent and they were nice enough to accommodate. Their ambience and food was impeccable. The seafood tower (fruits de mer) was so fresh and very generous with the crab meat. Not only that, but large portion all around. We ordered the waterzooi entree and paella moules pot (paella mussels pot) let's just say, we took leftovers home and had it for dinner for 2 days. Seafood was cooked perfectly, not too dry. Will definitely return and try other items on the menu.

For Christmas eve my wife placed a order for Muscles oreganata on Monday the 21st. We were supposed to pick them up at 5pm. When I arrived to pick them up the there was a line down the parking lot. I went to the hostess desk and said I was here to pick up my 5pm order for muscles and I was told the order wasn't ready yet and that it would be approximately 2 hrs to wait to get them. Being Very upset I asked the manager if they could call me when my order comes out and I will come and pick them up. He said they were too busy and wouldn't have the time to do that. With this type of customer service I will never be back there again. Just not a professional place what so ever and totally inconsiderate.

Waterzooi did not disappoint and kept up their standards. Always came here before the pandemic, like a few times a year.alqays good food, always great service. I'm really glad they kept it up during the pandemic and took extra measures to make sure everyone is safe. The outdoor dining setup is really good.an igloo INSIDE a tent 😂😂😂😂 they no longer have the weeknight specials. That was a bummer but still worth 5 stars!

My dining experience at Waterzooi was the most comfortable one since the pandemic began. We ate in one of the personal bubbles situated inside an outdoor tent. It was warm and comfortable regardless of it being a cold and rainy evening. I did not eat indoors but I did see the dining area and they seemed to have plenty of partitions set up and the tables nicely spaced out. The quality of the food has not changed whatsoever from pre-pandemic either! I was glad I decided to come. I strongly recommend coming here if you are looking for a safe and comfortable dining experience and great food!
