Delicious restaurant. Went for breakfast and I ordered the skillet with sausage, biscuit, over easy eggs and cheese. Wife went with the apple cinnamon waffles. Delicious. Beautiful ambiance and great service!

Lemon ricotta pancakes for the win. Coffee was great. Service was too. The owner was running with the workers doing all the things. He was telling everyone about the stuff hanging on the walls and how he acquired them. Even said if his parents hadn't got married in the 40s they wouldn't have made the cut. The nostalgic toasters were my favorite! I will be back!!!

I knew I would love this breakfast diner when we could smell bacon from a block away! The food was delicious. We had the morning after skillet and a side of biscuits and gravy. Pastries are house-made, and I think we’re gonna try their homemade donuts next time. I was told the restaurant opened only 35 years ago, but you feel like you’ve stepped into a real 50s diner complete with a shelf of old toasters and newspapers and print ads from the 40s and 50s. It’s charming.

Lucky Day! Zoomed into a rare parking spot out front and a hearty breakfast was only a few minutes away. Cozy, vintage diner atmosphere serves up great breakfast comfort foods and lots of healthy choices. Since I usually eat healthy, I went LARGE for a WAFFLE! YUMMM!

Amazing breakfast place! The service is stellar and upbeat, the food is pricey but well worth it, and the quality is great as well. Picked this place for the great variety of options available. The food came out hot and quick, even when traffic picked up. Lovely spot.

Talk about fresh! They make everything in the restaurant but the salsa is by far the best salsa I have ever had. Guacamole is also top 2 (but it’s not 2). We at here, family of 4 : Husband, Wife, 12 yr old daughter and 1 year old kid and we all are enough to get filled and look forward to coming back. If you are staying in the area this is a must. Small, retro decor and classic feel with great tasting food. Not to mention they have a toy bin for free toys for the kids.

Aside from the fact that my wife and I have been patrons of Ocean Diner ever since I met her in 2000, I've been eating at Ocean Diner since the 1980's! I've known Rick, the owner of the diner ever since my sister started managing Rick's two businesses ... Ocean Diner and Java Man Coffee House, both of which are located in the wonderful little beach side town of Hermosa Beach, California. Ocean Diner is literally the epitome of the 50s California diner. It's not a New York diner, it's a California diner. The food is definitely ALL American, but with that wonderful and amazing California twist. What's a "California twist", you ask? Well, you have choices! Lots and LOTS of choices! You can get biscuits and gravy with eggs, crumbled bacon, AND sausage, I mean, what's more American than that? Or, you can get scrambled egg whites with green onions and mushrooms served with brown rice and a side of homemade pico de gallo salsa. Their menu goes on and on! Not only that, but Ocean Diner has daily specials which are posted on a marker board up, behind the cash register listing even MORE amazingly delicious dishes. If you live in the L.A. area, and you and your loved ones (or some friends) have been talking about getting down to the beach area for a weekend, you really ought to consider stopping by Ocean Diner and order yourselves a meal. I suspect that Ocean Diner will most likely become one of your regular haunts. A word of advice though. Get there early if you're going for breakfast on the weekend. If you show up anywhere after eight-thirty, expect to wait for up to thirty-five or even forty-five minutes to get seated. Also, make sure that someone in your party goes inside to the register and gets one of your names on the list, otherwise, you could be there a long time. Tell them that Blaise recommended Ocean Diner.

This place is the real deal! I target restaurants primarily for ambiance, and this one is a prize. A forties atmosphere right down to the music and the artifacts and newspaper pages which appear to actually have been here since then. The kind of place my parents might have hung out .....and met at. (love and miss you both). ....and the food, portions, service, and prices are swell too!

We went here for the first time for brunch, and we loved everything! We ordered the Morning After Skillet 🍳 , the Crunchy French Toast 🍞, and a waffle 🧇 Service was friendly and fast, and it was cozy inside as well. :) One of our new favorites in Redondo Beach for breakfast!

Homey diner atmosphere with good coffee & food. There are many healthy choices which is great. But I eat well anyway, so I get a big, BAD waffle here and it's mighty GOOD! ??

Great cafe for breakfast! Lots of choices for egg dishes, pancakes & French toast and healthy alternatives. Their bakery case is really good too! Weekends are VERY CROWDED. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes.

I've only been to this place twice. First time I had the grilled mac and cheese sandwich wonderful. But I truly believe what would make this sandwich even better is a nice slice of ham. Second time I went I had their chicken fried steak. The gravy is on point the steak on the outside was great but when I got towards the center and it was completely Raw. Even though that sounds bad I loved the way the waiter handled the situation he brought me a brand new plate my daughter had finished her food so I took it to go. Here's the best part instead of just replacing the steak he replaced everything so it was all the same temperature. Now I call that some great customer service. I would definitely come back.

So good we went back the next day. Generous and great quality. Awesome coffee and 'impossible-to-choose' menu. But whatever you choose would be incredible. Beautiful biscuits, the best waffles, creative combinations... We loved it!

Love the vintage vibe of this place! The staff was friendly and attentive. The turkey sausage was delicious! Also of note was how they handled mistakes from the kitchen; my eggs were perfect on the second try. I think it's just as important how you handle mistakes as well as when you deliver perfection, and the Ocean Diner rose to the occasion. The bakery looked good; I barely escaped without buying a cinnamon roll, but no worries, I'll be back!

My buddy and I came here on Saturday around 10:30am well knowing that the wait could be insane. As luck would have it, we got there just before the next rush. We were seated and sipping coffee within a manner of minutes. Upon our arrival we were greeted with friendly staff and what can be described as a family feel environment. Our waiter was friendly and joyful, and really made our dining experience that much better. Both my friend and I got the basic 2 eggs, 2 sausages, and 2 pancakes. Even though basic and simple, the food was delicious. Nice fluffy pancakes were just what we needed for some carb loading. Ha Parking could be tricky I’m guessing. We got lucky and grabbed one of the few spots behind the restaurant. Street parking looked a bit tighter. But walking a few blocks would be well worth it to dine here. Enjoy, I know we’ll be back.

Best Beach Town breakfast in the South Bay! Variety, flavor, freshness, groovy 1950's decor and Very talented and friendly team. Parking can take patience but worth it! Excellent coffee for a diner as they are also Java Man Coffee.

This is my 4th time to Los Angeles, and the Ocean Diner is one of my favorites in town. From its friendly and knowledgeable staff, to it’s finger licking food selections, this place tops the list for breakfast joints. For about 40 years in operation, the venue is meticulously decorated with 1940’s memorabilia, a nice taste of nostalgia away from the jam packed city center!

  • 5/5 Jerret R. 4 years ago on Google
What a great breakfast spot. Diner feel is a real throwback from news clippings on the walls to the swivel counter chairs. Hot skillet options make for a very hardy meal. The coffee is Java Man and the staff keeps the cup topped off. The fresh muffins and cake options are amazing. They have real icecream shakes and a shake of the day. Staff is very friendly. Food is very consistent. Definitely a great place.

Nice place. Good service. But the food was not that great. I ordered the Sweet Lorraine Omelette, it came with home fries and a side of toast. The Omelette was ok , not that great.

Food was yummy and it came out quickly even with a full restaurant. Service was not perfect but will definitely come back. Recommend going before 745am to get a table. We got the country skillet and sullivan scramble

Good consistently made food. Recommended for a good breakfast or lunch. This diner is closed for dinner. Staff are nice and generally long wait times the mornings of the weekend. Try the Crunchy French toast... not the healthiest option on the menu but really good.

While on holiday, we stumbled on this amazing place. I had the strawberry waffle and my wife had the morning after(it’s called that). Haven’t given a breakfast diner 5 stars since I was in Santa Cruz at the walnut with their fresh squeezed OJ. I will definitely be back.

Solid 3.75 stars. Food and service are good however, I generally opt for the many comparable spots on the beach that are equally good. Out of respect for this nice establishment, I won't name the others, but my friends Scotty & Martha might have something to say about breakfast. I like Ocean Diner. 3.75 stars.
