👍👍 The Devil’s Garden was just one of the many amazing things to see in the area surrounding us while staying in Escalante, Utah. It is not the easiest place to get to, but well worth it if you don’t mind the seemingly long traverse across the washboard road that branches off of Highway 12 to get you... People often mention road,

The Devil’s Garden was just one of the many amazing things to see in the area surrounding us while staying in Escalante, Utah. It is not the easiest place to get to, but well worth it if you don’t mind the seemingly long traverse across the washboard road that branches off of Highway 12 to get you there. (By the way, I think your car will be fine, the washboard is just annoying.) The drive alone is worth it with all the beautiful landscapes you will see. The Garden is quite a unique stop along the drive because of how unique the rock formations are in contrast to the hills and flat areas surrounding them. This would be a great place to stop for some amazing photos and to get out and explore for a bit. You can even top it off with a picnic lunch or dinner thanks to the benches, tables, and park-style charcoal grills. I am guessing that the sunsets here would have to be amazing so I would love to come back here and have dinner with some friends or family while admiring the sunset light changing the colors of the rocks. The parking seems large enough to accommodate everybody coming through here and yes, there is a bathroom.

I accidently found out about this site while researching the slot canyons down the road. Personally I liked this area more and I'm surprised it is not more popular (mostly Utahans visit). There is a good variety of rock formations (arches, goblins, bridges, peekaboo's, toadstools) that you can walk among or view from an observation point (rock outcrop to the north).

Wow, what a cool place. The reviews talking about the washboard, and rutted road were no joke. Be careful. There are actually speed limit signs saying 35 miles an hour on this road but there are sections that will mess up most vehicles if you hit them at that speed. the park itself is definitely worth seeing, so many cool formations. It was 97° the day we saw it so be prepared in the summer for extreme heat, bring lots of water.

Large parking lot located closely to the fascinating area with so many hoodoos and arches. What a great place to visit.

This place was an absolute blast. It is a playground for big kids (adults). Lots of fun formations to climb and explore. We had the good fortune to get there in the evening and enjoy the sunset. We warned, the road can be terrible. It took me 35 min to go the 10 miles on the dirt road.

To find this are you drive from Escalante US 12 for 5 miles east to Hole in the Road Road. There is a sign, but it can easily be missed so watch carefully. It is a dirt road and as long as it hasn't rained recently it is accessible even to low clearance vehicles for this hike. You drive 12.7 miles down Hole in the Rock Road to a marked road on your right that will take you to Devil's Garden. The road is a little worse here, but still ok for you only need to drive 0.3 miles down it to parking area. This area is fun, for there is no this is the only path here. There are lots of paths, just take one and see what treasures you find. There are picnic tables here so you can pull out the lunches. There is also a restroom. If you get disoriented, just walk west and then then walk North and you will be back at the parking lot. There are cool mazes to wander through and arches, and even some shorter.ones you can get up on top and see from a birds eye view.
