Visited on a Tuesday afternoon in early February with hubby and 3 year old grandson. Good value at €7 each (grandson was free). Only one other person there. Quite small with only 3 halls of exhibits. Some good exhibits but only a couple that you can actually touch and go on, so no good for small children. Reminded me of how museums used to be with all the 'no touching' signs. Very sterile environment. The few interactive things they did have, all had 'out of order' signs on them. The children's area was also shut. Good place for adult transport enthusiasts to visit but not for small children.

Perfect for kids 3-8! Amazing museum on mobility, with lots of bikes, cars, trams, racing cars and trains on exhibition. Among other things, kids get to try out a car simulator, there's a lot to do. I'd plan 2-3h for my visit. A family ticket is €17, which is fair. Easy 5/5. 💯

Great place to see sooo much of the past, old vehicles, bikes, trains, trucks... The amount of pieces is respectable. The ticket price is very affordable. The place is huge and you need minimum 3 hours if you would like to see all. It is not allowed to consume food and drinks but there is special places to rest and there you can have your food but also to buy some snacks and coffee from the machines which is surprisedly cheap. In specific time you have narrators who is explaining about some vehicles which you can enter and try like an old carriage or Sbahn simulator. Free and clean toilet. 5+ stars

Excellent transportation museum with lots of cars, bikes, trains, and trolleys. Interactive exhibits help teach how motors, steering, and brakes work. Fantastic collection of preserved and restored machines.

PLEASE NOTE that the aviation and transportation collections have museums of their own located in their own buildings that are in different neighborhoods many miles from the original museum facility. All of the 3 Deutsches Museum facilities in Munich are awesome, vast collections that are meticulously curated. As great as the other 2 are I think the ground transportation museum was my favorite. There is just something about having a large number of unusual European motorcycles, bikes and cars in one place that appeals to my American eye. In particular I enjoyed the small post war autos! This was just so much fun. Hopefully my photos will give you an idea why I enjoyed this collection so much?

Great place to spend 2-3 hours with kids. Very well organized from educational point of view, there are many interactive items. You can easy to check how is working all-wheel-drive transmission or steering wheel or other technical solution we are using daily. There is big Lego playing room for kids. Parking can be an issue.

Amazing museum and I would highly recommend to anyone and families. It’s a 20minutes walk from the main train station and has 3 halls! Each hall had so much to see and we spent 3 hours in each hall. Hall 2/3 even had a giant slide which the kids loved. The place is clean, free wifi and also the kindest most welcoming receptionist. A great place to spend an afternoon in Munich learning about the evolution of transport and the German history! For more, check out @modern_mulans on Instagram.

Wow. The museum is really nice especially if you want to learn the history of transportation. Here they told the history of transport from the horse until the current electric cars. I love that they also brought a lot of real tram and train compartments. I spent around three hours here and found the place worth a visit.

Discover the marvels of mechanical ingenuity at the Museum Verkehrszentrum—an extraordinary museum captivating adults and kids alike, while in Munich it is a must go museum. For a modest fee of 8 Euros (as of Summer 2023), immerse yourself in an awe-inspiring exhibition featuring a captivating array of bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trains, and cutting-edge modern technology mosly from Germany but some from other parts of the World. Whether you're a transportation enthusiast or simply curious about the wonders of mechanical innovation, this museum promises an enriching and enjoyable experience for all visitors. I spent 2,5 hrs in the museum and could add probably another 1.5 hrs easily.

We made a visit to the transport section of the museum. It was elaborate and informative. The entire museum could be accessed through wheel chairs with ramps and elevators. There is a small area for refreshments ie coffee, cold drinks, chips, etc from the wedding machine in Halle 2. Overall, a good place for kids and adults to be enlightened.

What an amazing museum, and a lot for only €12!! The building has three large rooms, containing an sorts of exhibits on German transport, including cars, motorcycles, bicycles, buses, trams and trains. Detailed descriptions of each item presented in German and English. Lots of different things to see, I would highly recommend. We spent about 3 hours here but if you had children it could take longer, there is a play area too.

A very interesting branch of the deutsches Museum with all kind of cars (mostly if not exclusively German) and lots of information about internal combustion engines, steering systems and others, presented in an educationsl way. You can even see a Benz prototype of the first gasoline powered automobile (which I think used to be in the central museum in the past). Although a kid should in my opinion be at least 10 to grasp all the concept, the place was full of toddlers that made it a bit annoying. It seems many parents find it a convenient playground (there is even an indoor slide). Nevertheless it is a highly revommended visit for every Munich tourist. Most information is also in English.

Just too many things to see... If you like transportation, want to see the evolution of suspension/engines/interiors (or anything automotive really) then visit! Also great train collection. Funny experience to ride the Ubahn one day and then see it in the museum the next!

Very cool space and a huge number of vehicles on exhibit. There were however several exhibits that were not signed, and there are also many that are quite dated - internet shopping from 2004 anyone?

Must visit in Munich. One of the oldest museums founded in 1926 with original automotive innovations from across the world. Any automobile enthusiast will get lost in the countless show pieces. One can also bring their kids to show practical explanations for many of automotive applications.

A great museum showing various artifacts of Germany's past regarding transportation. Also interesting that the entire collection is stored in a refurbished train shed.

the museum is awesome for all ages interested in the history of transportation. much larger than anticipated, we spent three hours browsing through two hundred years of trains, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, children's vehicles and more. I would say it was a perfect time if it wasn't for quite literally every single digital device being broken/ out of order. not because of covid, but because no one fixes it. and the model railway wasn't even plugged in. furthermore, there's barely anything in the museum about the future of mobility and transportation. electric cars and bicycles are everywhere right now, alternatives to gas, oil and coal are discussed at large, yet there's only about three vehicles on site that don't have traditional combustion engines!

This is such a great place to take your child, or vehicle enthusiast, especially on a rainy day! There's so much space for movement and the displays are amazing. There's also a lovely children's center with blocks, coloring, and a slide.

I was amazed at the collection if different modes of transportation from different era in Munich. Whethere be it bicycle, motorcycle, automobile, train, or skis, you will find them here. There are also interactive areas where you can simulate different scenarios in the tunnel, or drive an automobile. You can also step inside a train wagon. This is kid friendly as there are different activities where children can draw, color or create. There's even a slide where children can enjoy. Not only that, you can also learn the environmental aspects of the transportation industry. Overall, highly recommend this to those with kids and to those who love automobiles.

If you are interested in history of commuting this is for you! And even if you don't, they have plenty of old/odd/funny looking machines on wheels to gawp at. Three big halls of all kinds of vehicles to see. A museum guide took the time to explain a car's history to us in English too which was very nice! You can easily spend 2-3 hours even if you are not a fan of the topic.

Great museum! If you like retro cars - that's place for you!) Best time to visit (to avoid crowd) - first 2h after opening or in the evening. Allow 1,5-2h for the full exploration. The staff is friendly and ready to help. This exhibition is worth every penny you spend!

Entertaining, informative, spacious and good for kids. Not crowded at all, which is always a plus. Not very interactive, mostly just vehicles on display. It looks like you used to be able to enter some trains, but it was corded off when I visited

We were out at a nearby playground with our little one when the rain started. We visited this museum as a way to escape the weather and it turned out to be an amazing turn of events. Our preschooler loved the various and diverse vehicles, especially the ones she could interact with, and as someone who has a strong interest in cars and motorcycles I easily enjoyed the museum just as much. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in the history of transportation - bicycles, cars, motorcycles, trains, ice skates, etc - and especially those with little ones looking for something fun and educational while in Munich.

We went to the Transport Museum with #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet. It was quite crowded, but got lost in the three halls. There were lots of small children and older people. We had a look at all three halls. Impressive exhibits in the motorbikes, cars or the railway. Three aspects that we found a little strange: 1. the exhibits and their stories mostly describe the past - but what about the mobility of the future? 2. of course #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet wanted to get behind the wheel of the truck and eventually did when it was their turn. But not only is the cab getting a bit long in the tooth, the cushions and seat covers are also broken and filthy with stains. Why doesn't anyone take care of that? 3. We had an online family ticket (17€) and still had to stand in the normal long row. Why is there no "fast lane" with scanner? All in all, it's a big museum with good transport links and good infrastructure in terms of restaurants and parks around it. The entrance fee is worth it because the children are delighted and get wide-eyed. There is also a children's area in hall three. We are happy to recommend the museum, although it could improve on some points.

Amazing museum on transportation: bikes, motorcycles, cars, trains, street cars, carriages, buses, trams. Amazing history and artifacts in this museum. They also have a hall specifically for children. I really enjoyed my visit and highly recommend this when visiting Munich. So much to see and enjoy.

Interesting, especially if you like cars and trains. Huge space has a variety of old cars, motorcycles, trams, and train cars. You can step into many of them. A few hands-on exhibits like and engine making the wheels turn and a transmission. The model train display was running while I was there, entrancing both kids and adults. Many of the signs have English translations.

A brilliant collection of vehicles, many of which I had never seen before - both new and old! Kept in pristine condition and with lots of information about each one. Definitely worth a visit for €8.

  • 3/5 Valeria P. 2 years ago on Google
It is an interesting museum, but not really child friendly. People cannot get on any vehicle, and there are only a few interactive areas. Really an old style museum, with “do not touch” signs almost everywhere.

One of the best Munich museums. One needs a whole day for a thorough visit.

A transport museum covering many forms of transport from historic man to modern day. Some rare car examples, many commuter trains, horse buggies/carriages, dugout canoe, motorcycles, bicycles, and a out of date now but still revealing display on the growth of oil use for transport by sector and regions

  • 5/5 David A. 2 years ago on Google
Spacious, informative and well maintained. An excellent museum.
