Well
suited
for
a
scenic
day
trip.
Joy
interesting
for
young
and
old.
Rarely
have
I
had
so
much
fun
with
public
transport.
Can
be
easily
used
with
regular
tickets.
What
makes
sense
here
(I
think)
is
a
day
ticket
for
flexible
travel
back
and
forth
in
Wuppertal
and,
if
necessary,
travel
by
train
to
one
of
the
two
final
stations
(or
one
in
between).
But
of
course
it
also
works
with
a
shorter
ticket.
The
Germany
or
semester
ticket
should
also
be
exchanged
(and
if
you
have
a
subscription
anyway
it
makes
even
more
sense).
We
drove
completely
around
once.
We
also
took
this
opportunity
to
make
a
stop
in
the
Luisenviertel
(well-preserved,
beautiful
old
houses)
or
the
botanical
garden
(beautiful
view
from
the
free-to-enter
tower
and
nice
green
spaces).
Background:
The
railway
is
interesting
historically
and
from
an
engineering
perspective.
The
railway
was
built
at
the
beginning
of
the
last
century,
among
other
things
because
the
bedrock
was
very
hard
and
a
subway
would
therefore
be
too
complex
and
expensive.
In
addition,
Wuppertal
is
a
long
city
on
the
Wupper
and
increasing
traffic
volumes
and
space
were
already
an
issue
over
100
years
ago.
The
idea
of
“simply”
building
the
railway
across
the
river
was
of
course
an
extremely
clever
design
that
solved
several
problems
at
the
same
time.
The
city
became
very
prosperous
and
grew
early
on,
among
other
things,
thanks
to
the
textile
industry,
so
of
course
a
good
solution
was
needed
for
the
increasing
traffic.
The
former
prosperity
can
still
be
seen
today
when
you
look
at
the
classicist
buildings
in
the
streets
that
have
been
preserved
(Luisenviertel)
or
take
the
train
past
many
villas,
town
houses
or
factory
buildings.
The
view
through
a
large
window
at
the
back
is
particularly
good.
I've
never
found
Wuppertal
itself
to
be
a
particularly
beautiful
city,
but
the
ride
on
the
suspension
railway
taught
me
otherwise.
Wuppertal
has
its
own
charm.
Especially
when
you
delve
into
history.
The
train
is
a
really
practical
solution
today.
It
runs
approximately
every
5-10
minutes
and
takes
passengers
to
their
destination
in
one
of
the
two
directions
along
the
Wupper
without
any
traffic
jams,
on
time
and
with
a
nice
view.
At
the
terminus
you
have
to
get
off
once,
but
you
can
get
back
on
at
the
other
side
after
the
train
makes
a
quick
turn.
Worth
seeing.
If
only
public
transport
were
always
this
cool.
If
you're
here
it's
definitely
worth
a
visit.
